    Topamax Dosage

    For anyone taking Topamax........what dosage are you taking?
    I have a prescription for 50 mg which helped at the beginning. It seemed to stop being effective so I ended up stopping it (more likely that I just wanted to continue to drink ). I am thinking that I might start it again and just wondered what the average daily dosage is.

    Topamax Dosage

    Hi there - my doc started me on 25mg daily, for a week then upped it to 25mg twice daily - then up to 50mg and so on until I am now up to 150mg twice daily. I went to AF around 100 mg twice daily but decided to carry on up to the 150mg for reasons of my own. I started the Topa in mid Dec and went AF the 2nd week of Jan. Feel great - very minor side effects - tingling feet now and then. Hardly anyone on here seems to be on Topa - Bac seems to be the drug of choice, but Topa worked really well for me. PM me if you want to. Topa works!
    How simple it is to see that we can only be happy now and there will never be a time when it is not now....

        I just started on the Topa this week. I'm following the dosage in the MWO book - so I started on 25 mg/day & will up to 25 mg 2x day when specified. I had started on the supplements for a full week prior to the topa & tapered off during that week. The Kudzu seemed to really cut cravings, so I decided that I'd just stop drinking entirely (provided I was able) when I started on the drug. So far so good. I am starting day 6 of no drinking. I had a little achy muscle feeling the first couple of days, but that seems to have subsided, so I think this may work well for me. I understand that the key is not to up the dosage to quickly in order to minimize side effects.

        I know Mama Bear is waiting anxiously - I'm sure your topa will arrive soon!

          Thank you for the info. I will go back to my Dr. and try to get her to work with me. She just gave me 50 mg and said that she didn't think it would help with my drinking and to just stop drinking. Oh wow....why didn't I think of that. :H I actually ended up playing around with the dosage and got up to 50 mg/twice a day. But since the Dr. hadn't prescribed it, I was nervous about taking it. So, now that I have some information I will go back and talk to her again. :thanks::thanks:

            Topamax Dosage

            Did you download the My Way Out Book? You really should if you haven't - I think it's around $12. There's a dosing schedule in there for supplements & for Topamax. The Topa dosing comes directly from a scientific study that the author cited in her book. I read the book & also did additional background research, which seemed to jive closely with what was there. You can PM me if you want & I can keep you posted on my progress as I go. This was my first week & so far so good. I'm hoping it continues to go well.
