    Some more q's about Bac

    Hi all
Forgive me if these questions are answered somewhere else, or direct me to the thread.
    Here goes:

Is it ok to take the bulk of your dose late in the day? I don't take any Bac in the morning, and take about 15mg at lunch time, but then load up around 5pm on, now, 50mg. The only reason I do this is I don't crave in the morning, and I'm taking it at lunch time just to spread it out a little, but really, like many people, my witching hour is evening, so I dose up at 5pm. Would I be better to spread it out a little? I've also read that it is short-acting.

When you hit "switch" how do you know how long to stay there for before titrating back down?

If you know you are going to drink, how many hours beforehand is ideal to take Bac so it has max effectiveness?

    thanks all for your help

    Some more q's about Bac

i have done a single dose before, but it was not effective. also that way i would take tons of ibuprofen because of neck pain. thats my bodies way of telling me 'gimme bac'

once you hit the switch stay 2 weeks up at that dose and then start to dose down to where you feel comfortable. i had my switch around 250mg - was in between dosing down to 100mg - but was feeling so tired. now i am at 160mg and i keep on dosing down sllooowwlly every 4 days by about 10mg a day. Bac has an immediate effect and a long term effect. if you take too few your body will not tell you instantly. you will find out 24-36 hours later if you crossed the border.

also this long term effect seems to work best if you take regulary bac.

    hope that helps

      Some more q's about Bac

      Hi Craving
thanks, that's very useful. It seems then, that I should be taking some smaller doses throughout the day, instead of whamming at 5pm. Also, that's an hour before I drink--would it be better if I took it earlier than that? (it still seems to have effect, but I'm wanting to be totally disinterested, not only 1/2 disinterested, if you know what I mean)
      thanks
      cheers

        Hi Mettaphorica,

The distraction from alcohol comes mainly from the high dose. You have to add up each few days, until you reach that point. You could have the switch at 1mg/kg up to 4mg/kg - really depends on the physical settings. Since you are female you will probably have the switch earlier.

If I was you I would at least spread out Baclofen over minimum 3 intakes a day. You can take sometimes more and sometimes less, that will work also I think. Never tried that though, but I am consider it later on for my fine tuning. (i.e. maybe I can reduce my supportive dose even more by distributing it differently over the day).

          Some more q's about Bac

          Hi Craving
Thanks again for your advice. I am going up by 5mg every 3 days, although specialist said take a week on each dose. Funny, when I hit 60mg, I could swear my wine tasted funny. I also have this strange ability to drink a whole glass of wine, but only 2/3 glass of beer, even though beer has around 1/2 the a/c in it, you'd think I'd be able to double that, and be at the equivalent of the wine. I mostly drink stout. I wonder why that is, why I drink less of a lesser a/c beverage?

The other odd thing is I used to be a red-wine only person. Then I went a/f free for 10 months (yay me!) I did it on a combo of bac, campral and nal, though I was on such a low dose of bac, it would've hardly made a difference. I quit the meds when I became pregnant. Sadly no longer pregnant and started drinking again within 2 months. But I haven't been able to go back to red wine, something just doesn't appeal. Maybe its the heaviness of red. Maybe the bac. Hmm...

FWIW I take my baclofen in one dose daily. 200mgs @ 2pm. It works for me. I was always a nighttime drinker.

Baclofen changes around a lot of things in our brain.
The majority of what it does is deactivating the craving - which is the main trigger for us drinking at all.

Thanks, I am very proud of my graph . Its also a little extra motivation, I do not want to screw up my graph with drinking :H

I found that with the right dose, the craving was gone - so the trigger that caused me to drink every day was gone - when drinking I felt no relieve - as i had NO CRAVING.

Then it was only a matter of time till I figured out that I do not need alcohol - there was no benefit of taking it anymore. Was still taking Nal always before drinking.

Its funny that we are able to stay AF for other people, but somehow feel we are not worth enough ourselves to just do it for yourself. I can understand that you do not want to take any medicine or alcohol meanwhile you are pregnant - a very good decision. But why don't we feel it is worth to be AF for ourselves best?

Lo0p .. you are doing body building - I noticed when I do sports I would need more Baclofen, so I think that is what happens to you. Have you reduced your dose? I can remember you took something like 300mg a day?

I don't know really. I know for a fact that it helps keep me from getting fatigued, see this thread: https://www.mywayout.org/community/f2...ght=back+squat .

Is it affecting my dose requirement? I have no idea.

I was just trying to say that I take it all at once and not in divided doses and it works great for me. No SE's, no cravings.

Lo0p, have you always taken your bac in a single dose? I am an evening drinker myself and wonder if I should try that method. I'm just starting out tho, and already tired on 3 5mg doses spread through the day.

Not always. It started because I didn't want to take any at night because it interrupted my sleep. And then I didn't want to take any that would hit me before my gym session @ 5:30 PM.

So I settled on taking it right before I went to the gym, then I found out that it didn't hinder me at the gym so I started taking it at 2pm. A single daily dose works for me. I don't even notice it anymore.

Liofen from Sun Pharmaceuticals, from All Day

I've also taken Baclan from Yoo Young Pharmaceuticals, from All Day

                      Both work great for me.

I am always comparing my experience to others here, and I learn so much from others, but my own experience is always different.

There has been some discussion about half life here, and baclofen is said to have a short half life, which is about 4 hours. But when it takes effect, and how long it lasts, is another story.

Baclofen "hits" me 1-2 hours after I take it (30mg doses), and I can feel its effects for several hours after that. If I were to be drinking, I would take smaller amounts earlier in the day, and increase them towards my drinking time-- maybe the highest dose (40mg for me) a couple hours before drinking.

So, yes, I do think it is a good idea to get it in your system from earlier on in the day, and then pump much more in at the right time. But this is just based on my own experience.
Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life... And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.
