While surfing the internet, I came across some data that says Topa may cause depression. This terrified me since I am taking anti depressants and DO NOT want to go into that black hole again......any comments or experiences out there?
Overall, everyone seems to like this drug and I am aware there could be side effects....

I was prescribed Topamax originally for migraine headaches and it did cause me major depression. The doctor gave me Lexapro with it and I am fine. I really like the combination of the two medicines. I hope this helps

It did make me depressed and anxious so I did go on Cymbalta for that. I just could not handle the SE's. Godo Luck to you and keep us posted.

Wow - maybe this explains why topo didn't work for me. (Or that I wouldn't let it work for me.) I started taking it late this past summer just when my oldest was getting ready to leave for college. I was a mess! I was so sad. It did occur to me that the topomax may have had something to do with falling into the abyss but I wasn't sure. And of course since I was blue, I kept drinking. I came to the conclusion that my cravings for alcohol were/are more emotional than physical so I gave up on the topo. Maybe I should have given it more of a chance.
But good luck with it. I'd love to know how it's working for you.

MB - from all the reading I have done, it seems to work pretty well for people who have experience depression when prescribed along with something that it seems to work well with. I've looked at various drug interaction charts - I'd just make sure it doesn't have any negative interactions with the anti-depressant you're taking. A lot of people take it in combination successfully. are you feeling ok on it?

Hi there I have not had any trouble with depression on Topa - I am already on Celexa though so maybe that has helped IF it does that. How are you doing on the Topa so far?

I ve been feeling good....maybe cutting back on the booze consumption is helping......???? Not AF...not sure what I want to do, but consumption WAY down....thanks for checking on me!!!!
