    Topamax...

I'm curious to know if anybody here has had good results with Topamax. Plus, how many of you combined Topamax with the hypnotherapy C.D.s?

I just got my copy of "My Way Out" yesterday afternoon, and have been reading up on the author's experiences. I was surprised to discover that the author is focused on moderation rather than abstinence. She drank much the same way I did, so it got my wheels turning...maybe I can moderate, too? With the assistance of Topamax and hypnotherapy.

Also, I'll need to find a way to order this drug online, without a prescription. My reasons for not going through my doctor are manifold. I think I saw that Nora used "River" pharmacy. Does anybody else have suggestions?

    Thanks in advance...

    Hi Fennel,

I might be wrong, but I read somewhere in one of the posts that the author eventualy went abstinent. Some of us can moderate, some simply cannot...
All the best to your decision.

Good to know, jessie...I wonder why she's still promoting her "program", then? That seems a bit dishonest to me. If she ended up going that route, I won't even bother. :thanks:

        Topamax...

        Hi Fennel,

I've had some doubts too. I looked up the prescribed program against the supps available and they didn't match.

I have been told since that the doses have been updated but I'm not prepared to order on line when I have no guide lines to look at beforehand.

I can't find anything about Roberta Jewell being abstinent...are you sure you're not thinking of Audrey Kishline? She's the founder of "Moderation Management".

            Hi Fennel,

I just ordered Topamax from River Pharmacy. It's based in Canada, and I spoke with Debbie, a very helpful customer service rep. You can speak to them in person 24-7.

            Good luck,

                  Hey Fennel,

I forgot to add, Debbie recommended Topa for controlling the cravings and taking Bac at the same time if you're anxious while abstaining....I guess Bac kind of mellows you out. She said Topa has kept her abstinent for the last 5 years. I should be getting mine in about a week. I will let you know how it works once I get it.

I've heard that RJ has since decided not to drink at all. But that's only through here. I think she could do with updating the books / meds / supps /etc if that's her choice.

I'll do plenty of sleuthing before I part with any $. I'm not finished with her book, but I haven't seen any specific "dosing" suggestion yet, either. It would be nice to ditch some of the craving, but I'll do my research, first...

There are doses in the MWO on line book. I printed these out and compared them to the supps sold here and they didn't match.

I only take L-Glutamine for the cravings. I find this pretty good. I'm training anyway so it's not doing me any harm, It can be bought in a health food store which prevents handing over credit card details to a website.

Personally, I won't order from here and certainly not prescription drugs but I have found the people invaluable.

                          Hi Fennel,
The MWO program has worked for many here. For some their goal is to abstain from AL altogether and for others their goal is to drink moderately. It IS possible for some to learn how to drink moderately but this is definetly the minority.
I believe RJ decided to go AF with her husband when he was ill, there is nothing dishonest in her decision.
What ever your goal is I highly suggest using all the tools that MWO has to offer to devise your own plan.

Thanks for your input...I'm curious, where are you finding information about the author? I've been googling her and all I'm coming up with are references to her book and program, nothing about her personal life, husband's illness, etc. Can you send me a link? :thanks:

                              Topamax...

                              Hi Fennel,
I've just done a search and see that most of RJ's posts are in the "Subscriber" section which you can only gain access to if you pay a fee to join.
I don't believe you will find any personal information about RJ if you google her as RJ is not her real name which she mentions at the beginning of her book.

But all of that aside, do research the Topa further as I've had great success with it and the other med to investigate is Baclofen. There are quite a few informative threads here in this section about the different meds and the success others have had.

BTW I haven't ever ordered online as I had a heart to heart with my GP who although knew nothing about the MWO programme was willing for me to try it when I went to her armed with the book and some research I downloaded online.

                              Good luck!
