Bac stickies not feasible nor appropriate?

bump, in regards to Neva's message, as well as it needing to be at the top... I have several times asked for this to be stickied (as many others have requested since this was posted -- bleep being the latest, I believe).

HOWEVER, I'm guessing there are too many to be stickied, especially in the bac threads, AND to sticky these posts/threads would probably make them come at the top of the MEDS forum, not just the top of the baclofen threads -- which would, of course make more sense, considering how important and central baclofen has become -- but technically, how can you sticky something at the top of a conglomeration of threads (the bac threads)?... when there is no baclofen forum (although there clearly is a need for it)?

Unfortunately, there is no separate baclofen forum, so until there is, I can understand the moderators' reluctance to sticky these baclofen-related information threads at the top of the meds forum.

That said, it is not understandable, nor acceptable, that the monitors have not posted an explanation somewhere, in response to the overwhelming number of requests on these threads, as to why stickying these threads is not appropriate nor feasible.

Sorry, to be so long-winded -- as I have said a number of times previously, I don't have time to edit my posts anymore. (Never did have, in fact, but did it anyway.)

          Refutals, and counter-explanations are welcome.

No, you pretty much summed it up there, I fear. Although the Consolidated baclofen info thread, and the 2 from OA could be stickied without too much harm being done. The other drugs don't have vitally important threads, it seems, so there's nothing lost with just 3 stickies.

A separate baclofen forum is a good idea. I think it's going to grow enormous over time anyway. Or perhaps it won't - people get cured and drop away, unlike other methods.

necessary bump -- and sorry to you all with your personal diaries -- they are SO important too.

Just want to keep this stuff where new people will see it.

                      why not?

(I do wish Dr A would write some more. There is probably nobody in the world who better understands the whole story of baclofen: where we have come and what the next chapter is likely to be)

                            Murph,

Yes, I'm with Grat, nice avatar...

On Dr A, I'm not in on what y'all are thinking all the time, but I guess I do know that Dr A isn't always the easiest guy to read or listen to. I listened to a tape of a radio broadcast he did in Minnesota a few weeks (months?) ago...he doesn't necessarily put his best foot forward...

However. His book was magnificent. He is in the epicenter of this damn thing and there are and have been developments around the world that he must have details about. Like what physicians are saying privately, which pharma cos are looking at bac analogues, how the Amsterdam trial is going, whats going on in France with two new trials and in other European countries...

Curious minds would like to know.

In addiction, suppression of symptoms should suppress the disease altogether since addiction is, as he observed, a "symptom-driven disease". Of all "anticraving medications used in animals, only one - baclofen - has the unique property of suppressing the motivation to consume cocaine, heroin, alcohol, nicotine and d-amphetamine"
