    Campral

    Hi guys,

How long do you have to be AF before taking campral? Can anyone give me any indication of how it worked for you?
Every day is a day to start over and remember that I am powerless over my addiction. I will no longer give the BEAST any power over me - he can go straight to hell.

I started taking Campral about 10 days ago but not much have changed...sigh! You can start right away and keep on taking it even when you slip and drink.
    Good luck.

I took Campral, but I was still drinking. It didn't do anything except give me audio hallucinations (I would hear polka music, an orchestra, etc when there was no music being played. It was so bizarre!) Maybe it works better when you are abstinate for a while, I don't know.

          Uni, Jessie, Jackie,

I also took Campral for about a week. It did nothing for me, however there are a few on this board, whom were AF first, then took it and it worked on their cravings. Uni, I know that you have some AF time under your belt...it may be the drug for you.

I am taking naltrexone, on month 4 and I am actually happy to say that I am seeing results. I am a wino, an every other day binger (1 bottle to 1/2 bottle on rare occasion). However, the Nal is actually helping.

Ladies, I know it is all so hard to figure out what to do and what is best for us. I know for Jackie, abstinence was/is the only way. And, my personal opinion, abstinece is the program we should all do. However, the path or road to get us to the point of abstinence is different for everyone. we are all different, we have different drinking patterns, pyschological issues, etc. There is no ONE SIZE FITS ALL answer. I think we all know that.

All we can do is commiserate and counsel each other. Eventually we will find the way.

Everything I need is within me!

Abs is my way - it is the only option for me. I just want something that will minimize the cravings so that I can continue an AF lifestyle. I have heard that campral can be very good that way. I am going to try it and I'll keep you posted on the results!
