    Terrifying dreams

Has anyone has absolutely paralyzing fear from dreams associated with bac? I was up to 120mgs and had 3 really bad drinking days and well the dreams were quite terrfying. Could this be an issue of withdrawal? I'm really not sure but I am starting to feel like I should go at my non-drinking the old fashioned way.

On another note, I feel like I hit an all time low on Saturday. Got all drink up too some gravol to help me sleep and was I ever messed up. My kids must hate me. My father was an alcoholic and I hated him for never getting help and being so embarrassing and weak. Funny how time changes and what I hated about him is what mine will hate about me.

do you fight the insomnia with alcohol?

it was reported that dreams on Baclofen are crystal clear.

because of that you want to quit bac?

if all people on this forum who quit medicine of light side effects would quit alcohol for the heavy side effects it causes ......
since 23. Apr 2009 : TSM - failed to reduce units
since 08. Jan 2010 : Naltrexone + Baclofen combination therapy
reborn since 16. Jan 2010 : Alcohol Free (AF) - only taking Baclofen
    since 22. May 2010 : Baclofen against anxiety/fear
    since 14. Mar 2011 : off Baclofen - taking 25mg Topamax/day

I'm not sure what you mean by the last part.

Thevdreams were terrifying because they seemed so real! I haven't experienced anything like it before EVER!!! Scary....but like a food girl I keep plugging away. I am serious about ridding myself of this demon and get my life back.

alcohol has very serious side effects - messing up sleep and dreams. hangover, blackouts, etc..
stll those side effects are acceptable to all alcoholics, meanwhile some small side effects coming from a medicine against alcohol are unacceptable. isnt that paradox?

take 200mg l-theanine before sleeping, that will help

          Christy,

My girl, who never took Baclofen in her life, was talking about the terrifying dreams associated with alcohol withdrawal. She told me that yesterday. There is a reason she did that. I don't think it is Baclofen but trying to get off the booze.

Get off the booze. Do it with Bac or without.

I am doing it, too. It is scary. The sweats, the itchy feet (liver damage), the nightmares.

I am taking Baclofen and Neuontin through it because my doctor told me I am subject to seizures now that I am a binge drinker and I have a very bad syndrome that causes a lot of head pain.

One of the side effects to trying to quit is I went from every night to once a week, large quantities.

I hate this disease. Very much.

Let's stomp it in the stomach and get our lives back.

          Love,
          Cindi

If I drink and take Bac a few hours before sleep I have the most disturbing dreams I've ever had.

I'm still drinking, mostly just in the evenings, so I make sure I don't take my last dose of Bac a good few hours before going to bed, and it's no longer a problem.
I don't come here much anymore but you can always mail me at rotunda 2000 at hotmail dot com (no spaces). Might be able to help with Bac emergencies

The dreams made me feel like I was going crazy! I could feel, touch, like I was awake...seemed like reality. I really felt like I was losing my mind.

I'm going to my drs on Wednesday so I will speak with her about it.

Thanks for listening to me whine everyone-you guys are the only ones that understand.

                Halllucinations

The hallucinations you are experiencing can be very disturbing. Apparently they dont happen to everyone but I can tell you the are like the real thing. That and other serious side effects brought me back down to zero on Bac. Bless those for whom it works.

                  Christyacc,
Your report of your dreams made me recall that I had one very horrific nightmare on the 30th day of taking bac the first time around...I was up out of the bed in flight mode before I was fully awake!
Since starting again, 24 days ago, I have only had very clear, brightly lit dreams...
I hope your Dr has some help for you. Please share if it works!
                  hugs,

                    azuldog!!!!!

I was hoping you would have seen this and replied! It would seem as tho u&i are having similar side effects. I have been quite lucky in that I haven't had any since the weekend but I also haven't drank either. Day 5 now....I fought through a beer craving last nite.

That is a question I have for everyone...how much willpower are you using to remain AF? I noticed last nite that not much was required and once it passed it was gone.

Oh and as for the drs, she gave me a script for a 2 month supply for 300mgs. I also had bloodwork for liver and kidney function....let's hope they come back ok. Tho I did forget to mention the bad dreams.....since I haven't had anymore.

                        I dont know....

Christy, I dont know why this works for some and not others. There has been enough research. I know with anti-depressants side effects vary widely from one individual to another. Anyway dont give up, maybe titrate back a bit. At least it reduces over all consumption for many people and that cant be a bad thing.

ps dont take any shit from people who dont understand this situation.

                        best wishes, azuldog
