Need Answers about Nal and Minor Surgery

Hi everyone, I am having Lasik eye surgery this week and I am concerned about taking NAL before/after. They will give me a Valium the day of surgery, sleeping pills for after and Percocet if I have pain after. From what I understand, I can not mix the NAL and Percocet. Do I stop taking NAL for days before and after the surgery? Is there another pain med I could take that is not an opiate? I know many of you know way more about the interactions than I do. I have never been someone who takes any meds so I don't know what Valiums, sleeping pills and Percocets really do. What do I do? What happens when/if I dont take the NAL and still drink? Will one week of not taking it give me a huge setback?

This does not need to be a setback. Just look up the life time of the Nal 50mg in the bloodstream. I do believe it is 48 hours. But don't take my word 4 that. Look it up. Or go and ask a pharmacist if you can. I think you may be fine. One dose of drugs does not usually impact too greatly if you just go back to your routine as soon as you can after. Best of luck.

Hi Potato, thanks for the response. I had the surgery yesterday and everything went great. I stopped the NAL on Sunday just in case but did not need any pain medicine. I told the nurse I did not want the percocets because of the NAL and she said I would be fine taking it because I stopped it on Sunday. But I did not want to take it and then have to wait to start taking the NAL again. No pain from the surgery anyway so all is good and I am back on NAL today. This has really been working well - on 9 weeks now-and I really believe this is going to work for me.

An another note, are you the Potato from the TSM forum? I follow the posts over there but have not posted yet. I believe you did NAL too - can't remember after reading so many posts. Did it work for you? How long did it take?

Thanks again! The posts give me so much hope and between that and following TSM I know I am going to be free of this addiction, no matter how long it takes I am going to do it!!!!!!!!!
