    UK- Observer newspaper Dr Ameisen

I found this site through this newspaper article a couple of weeks ago, i had heard of Dr Ameisen before but never followed it up. Well i am now and very pleased to have the support of members as i try to source my Bac by the route that's best for me.

I'm surprised the site is not over run with brits by now, if any are lurking come on in, the more of us searching for our solution and supporting each other the better our chances.

I don't take Bac but this article is amazing! Baclofen is obviously slowly but surely getting out there! Like you SW, I too am amazed that more people from England haven't commented on it - I am sure they will. Have you managed to get any Bac over there?

Hi there. I'm new to this board.
I've been AF for nearly 3 weeks now.
Ive ordered some Baclofen today as I don't know how long i'll stay on the wagon.
I usually fall off after 3-4 weeks.

        Hi Londonsw16,

I am currently taking Naltrexone, self prescribed and have been on it now for 4 months with great results initially. My Al intake has crept up quite a bit but I plan on sticking with it a few more months.
I do have some baclofen that I ordered from alldaychemist and it is going to be my next plan if Naltrexone fails to do what I am hoping for.

I see you were looking for a Doctor in London to try and get a prescription from, good luck with that, I am sure you will be successful.
I am planning a private visit to see Dr Jonathan Chick in Edinburgh, it aint cheap at ?180 but he has put plenty of patients on naltrexone and I'm hoping he has started trialing baclofen, time will tell.

Best of luck on your journey.

Hi Londonsw16 I too was introduced to this site after reading the article in the Observer Magazine. Best move I have made to date. Am trying to go with out the meds for the time being, but glad to know if I should feel the need to turn to them I can get support and info. Are you going to try and get Bac through the NHS?

            Hi all

Hi Monk, three weeks and taking action is great, stay in there.

Hi Not tonight, Scott and Daisie,

I'm hoping to see a Dr in London, he has agreed in principle to prescribe Bac subject to a full diagnosis, but it is expensive ?300 per hour and that would be ongoing to supervise the meds. The idea is that he would then get my GP to take over. He has one good advantage ( as well as being respected in the field) in that he works as visiting consultant at my nearest hospital and this could help with my GP.

I have to say he sounds cautious he has not prescribed before so at this stage i can't share the details but i have the names of another couple who are said to be ok, roughly the same costs, I'm happy to PM these names,

Quite a bit to do before i can started, blood tests, medical files viewed etc.

            Kevin

Hi all you new people! :welcome:

Check out my graph (link below) and you can see what happened to me after I started taking baclofen.

I started in October, then ran out because I didn't order enough. Then I started again properly. I currently drink whenever I want to, however much I want. This amounts to a few drinks every couple of weeks or so.

To give you a sense of what it feels like I'll say this: Most of the time I never think about it at all. Sometimes I think about it and it just doesn't sound appealing. Last night I had a really bad night at work, came home and opened the liquor cabinet, looked at the bottles, got a gag reflex and ate some cereal instead.

Yes, I have a liquor cabinet in my house stocked with liquor that I almost never drink. :wow:

Sometimes, when I'm at or having a party I'll join in and have 1-6 drinks. But I don't have to at all. My birthday was on the 14th, last weekend. I had one sip of a mojito and that was it. It was all I could stomach, it was too strong...and I made it. :H

edit: I also take naltrexone 1 hour before I drink, every time I drink as per The Sinclair Method.

Very interesting and well-organized article... but with an inane conclusion.

In most of the text of the article, the author takes a fairly objective angle, and gives a voice to the differing viewpoints and experiences, but the conclusion is:

"But AA is based on surrender, on suppression of the ego and a very old-fashioned leap of faith; Ameisen found his cure through his refusal to surrender, listening to his ego, and through science. The problem is that science needs proof."

wtf? Is there anybody else who reacts to this?
Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life... And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

I got mine from Dr. Seuss. Or at least that's the name I filled in for my physician on All Day Chemist's website where I ordered it.

Kevin - 300 pounds an hour!! Hopefully you only need to see him for 10 minutes to get the Bac!!!!! Can't you see your GP for the blood work etc? What about just getting the bac on-line?

London, Daisies, Drunkmonk, Scot, Not Tonight, Gold, Loop, and Beatle,

Hey, I am on NAL through River Pharmacy and now I'm going to try Bac with it because apparently you can take the two at the same time. Yeah, Kevin, try ordering the Bac through River. It's frightening how even homeopathic docs like mine in the US had never ever heard of Bac and Nal! All I know is NAL has been a lifesaver and hopefully with Bac I can be AF! Loop, you are my encouragement. I read your graphs all the time :-)

Try All Day Chemist or Inhouse Pharmacy. Both are trusted and used by a lot of us around here and both are WAAAAAY cheaper than River.

I used River once and was impressed by their customer service. I don't have anything bad to say about my experience with them, save the fact that they are relatively pricey.
