How long before Baclofen kicks in?

I started Baclofen yesterday. I took 12.5 in the morning and felt nothing so I went ahead and took a full 25mg pill mid day and still felt nothing. I took another 25mg at night yesterday and still really did not feel anyting. Today I have so far taken 50mg and still don't feel anything... How long before you are supposed to notice the anti-anxiety benefits of Baclofen? I haven't noticed any adverse side effects or anything at all. I got mine from Goldpharma- It says Mylan dura GmbH. darmstadt 25mg on the packets.

Everybody is different. Most people would be floored if they took 50 mgs their first day.

I took 150 my first day and 250 on my second and third. On the third day I drank 2 1/2 units instead of 11 or 17. I can't recommend anything like that to anybody because it may be dangerous. Everybody is different though. I just waited for it to take it's full effect and took more when I didn't feel anything.

Excellent. Thanks Lo0p. I usually have a much higher tolerance to drugs than most people do so I suspect it will be no different with Baclofen. I will continue to increase the dosage and just see how I feel. BTW your graph is very inspiring. Good Job!

I also experienced almost zero SEs at lower doses. I was under the impression the the BacMax from 4RX I had started out on was fake or dud.

I took a much more cautious approach compared to Lo0p, but could still titrate at a much faster rate than what I've generally observed here.

It was only when I got to around 180mg that I started experiencing mild somnolence. At 240 - 270, insomnia became terrible, and only abated once I started titrating down 2 weeks after hitting the switch.

Hi, Tip. I am @ 90 and will go up to 100 today. Main problem is sleeping. Still craving and drinking, but much less than before. No psychological effects yet. Keep up the good fight. I will, too.

I have done some experiments with low doses. I feel nothing at all except maybe a slight anxiety reduction if I take a 25-50 mg dose. I found that insomnia did become a problem if trying 50 or 75 mg before bed. Mine is GenRx Baclofen bought from a pharmacy.

The first time I took Baclofen I took a 25 mg pill and it knocked me out for three hours. I guess everybody is different but if you feel nothing after taking 25mg I would be wondering about the validity of those pills.

I was wondering the same thing actually... Today I have taken 150mg in 3 separate doses of 50mg and will take 50mg more this evening for a total of 200mg. This is only my 3rd day on Baclofen. I suppose I am a bit more tired today and my mood does seem to be a bit better than usual but I am not sure that can be attributed to the Bac. As for alcohol cravings I am not sure about that either as I have been sober for about a month and I tend to be all over the place when it comes to cravings and drinking. I can go for weeks and even a few months in a row and then all the sudden go on a 3 or 4 day bender. I will continue to increase the dosage throughout the next week or so until I get up to 300 and then re-assess where I am at.

Holy crap, I can't believe you're up to 150 mg on your 3rd day!!! I know Lo0p did it but I thought it had to be an anomoly. Wow. At this rate, you may hit the switch by the end of the week!!! I've been on bac for 2 months and I'm only up to 100mg.

I took a 10mg pill last night before bed and I still feel "Loopy" from it. Haven't taken any today because of the constant Dizzy feeling and tired feeling. I guess some people just have a really high tolerance to muscle relaxants. I have a very high tolerance to pain pills but muscle relaxants kick my butt. Maybe it is because I am still drinking. I'm not sure. If you got yours pills from Goldpharma they are most likely legit. You just have a very high tolerance. Anyhow, goodluck and keep us posted on your prgress.

houtx, if you're messed up on the 80mg that you're taking stay on it until the SE go away and they will. When I had to stay at 90mg for 3 weeks because of my surgery by the time I had the surgery I didn't have any SE at all which was not the case when I first hit 90mg. Just go slow.

Today I upped my dose to 100 mgs and just felt drunk w/o the loss of intelligence all day. Light-headed, dizzy, like if I didn't stand up I would fall asleep...but I had to sit down and input stuff for several hours on the computer so it was grueling...hated hated hated the feeling of wooziness!! Thought all day about how if this is the price I must pay, is it worth it??!! Took 30 mgs when I got home and cleaned house to keep busy...sitting puts me to sleep. I went out of town this weekend w/ my 2 teenagers. Hoped they would drive, but of course, they fell asleep almost immediately! LOL I struggled staying awake bigtime - I am NEVER that way -

But UGH - I am sleepy & groggy ALL the time & hate it. Hoping it would just go away & thought I need to just keep upping the dose anyway... Getting on here and reading the mssgs helps - thinking I will stay at 80 mgs for another week. Thanks, Corkit! I also plan to call Dr. Fred before I report to my own Dr in the next week or so. Thinking it will help me "plead my case" to him. Will keep it posted -

Corkit is right. If you are feeling SE's, then hold and wait for them to go away. I think I recall that you are tiny, so 20mg/week might be too much for you.

I have been all over the place: up to 140, back to 50, up to 140, back to 80. I am finally back to 140 with managable SE's. If I had it to do over, I would not have titrated back as much, but instead would hold steady as Corkit says.

Hang in there. Being fuzzy and woozy is no fun, but the alternative is worse.

I have been on Bac about two weeks and am up to to 110 mg. Will go up to 120 tomorrow. Have felt no ill effects except sleeping still seems a problem. I have had insomnia for many years so I didn't really expect anything else. Have been upping the dose every two days rather than three. Still drinking, but much reduced, and when I do drink, I don't pass out, which is a wonderful thing. :yay:
