Some questions about early bac use

I'm on my third day of 80mg of bac (20X4)... my drinking remains reduced- 3 beers instead of 9-12.

I'm doing well, anxiety is greatly reduced.... but I am also experiencing sleepiness and sometimes feel a little spacey-- not sure if spacey is the right word-- maybe it's just being extra tired and I'm not used to that.

My question is does this go away or get worse as I titrate up? Does it go away over time?

Also once you hit the switch how is it possible to stay on a much lower maintenance dose and not have the cravings return? I'm getting confused as to why we have to titrate up if a lower dose can maintain?

Some questions about early bac use

It is totally normal to have the feelings of tiredness and feeling a little spacy. I actually by 3rd day could only take 30 mg. It took be about 2 weeks to go up to 60 mg and even then I had to spread it out in 3-4 hour intervals of 10 mg each. This forum seems to suggest pushing to very high levels early on. I did not drink while starting out on the bac. I have not had a drink since mid January. The baclofen has helped a lot with even my fear of relapse. Since both alcohol and baclofen are both GABA agonists in a way you are increasing your liklihood of side effects. Plus the disinhibitory effect of the alcohol may make it harder to have good judgment about the next drink or whatever.
    good luck

Some questions about early bac use

      Thanks sunny.

I'm starting to realize a few things... for one, I like waking up without a hangover. I swear there is nothing worse than waking up with that sick feeling knowing it was self induced, not being able to deny that the behavior is so dysfunctional. It really erodes a persons self esteem not to mention physical motivation..... interesting when getting shit faced as a way of life the morning is the worse part of the day, and the only relief in sight is another booze fest.... but when not getting drunk the morning feels like the best time.... and then the evening feels like a challenge as I feel this strange sense of being really bored without my old friend alcohol.... I'm seeing that I need to change my evening habits so I don't feel bored.

Anyhow, I'm asking myself- what do those few beers I'm still reaching for really do for me? Not much really. So why am I doing it at all?

Those two realizations might seem minor to a normal person, but for me it's huge.

Something else that feels pretty good- I found a place where I feel like I can say what I just said..... to be able to have a fellowship of sorts on this journey is.... well.... priceless. Thank you to all of you.

I feel the same way about this place. I can tell the truth. We are each a case history of one. We can read what helped others and make our decisions and report our progress without censure here. It is very freeing.
Weather to drink or not is a decision you and only you can make. But many a time I decided to never drink again but I couldn't follow through with that decision until the baclofen.
all the best and keep us posted

          Hi Chi,
I had those exact same feelings at first on bac - I was tired when I didn't want to be and sleepless when I did. For the daytime tiredness and spacey feeling, I found that DMAE and PC (choline precusor) helped immensely, made me even more focsed and alert than I was before. The insomnia has gotten better since I've gone back down to 60mg, and I habn't had any bad cravings so I'm going to stick at this level for know. I never felt the need to get to a mega dose to flip the switch since my cravings almost completely disappeared by 5x20mg. Good luck and do check out supplements for the spacey feeling, they really worked for me.

          Best,
          SoFlo
