    NAL for Abstinence?

    2 weeks later...

Well, I have been on 50 mg. Naltrexone for about 2 weeks now. And on Celexa 20 mg/daily for almost a month. I have finished the Valium detox which took about 3 weeks on the taper off method. Started with like 10 mg 3xday down to 5 mg daily, then off it. So far I am feeling overall GREAT.

Also found a good AA sponsor and working the program as instructed. Nearly to 30 days. I think Naltrexone is good as I haven't been experiencing nearly the craving levels I used to, but also the anti-depressant keeps me from experiencing crazy mood swings so its hard to tell which is most effective or if the combo of both plus AA but whatever it is its working! I really feel the best I've felt in awhile and my energy is picking up as well although I was concerned first 3 weeks about being very sleepy think it was just withdrawal. Also, I added some light excercise daily and I think that's helped my energy levels.

Just wanted to check back in here! :thanks:

marriedgirl, I applaud your implementation of your own custom plan using a variety of tools. You've obviously found a combination that is working well for you - that is fabulous! Many in the AA camp can poo poo anything else, and I also see people in the meds camp dissing AA. I'm glad you have kept an open mind and are using both to your own benefit and sobriety.

Good post Doggygirl. Also Married Girl. I agree with both. I have been in both camps and have found people are people and we have to find our own way. I used to be sensitive about all of it but have aged and am wiser now. Finding my own way out too! Best of luck!

Hmm. I have never tried bac but my doc says it is hard on the system and bad for you. I am still wondering about it Rudolf.

              4 weeks later...

              Hello all,

I am still sober and feeling pretty good. Still on 50mg Naltrexone and 20 mg Celexa and still going to AA every day and working wtih my sponsor. I did have a pretty serious anxiety attack yesterday, culminating in me having to literally sit down in the shower I was freaking out so bad. I had the horrible anxiety the whole time I was running then got in the shower when I got home and it really wasn't going away. Today I feel better I just try to keep calm and stick it out. I kind of felt like going to the hospital but insurance, or lack thereof, kept me from going and sure enough it passed.

Still, I have something like 35 days sober. Just have to remember to take the medicine every day that's the hardest part!
