    My BAC progress thread

Not much to add to my first post, am currently at 60mg daily divided into 3 doses. Still no reduction in cravings, but only drank to excess once (last Sat night) since starting. I got a craving for bloody marys, and so off to the liquor store I went. I should know better because the few times that I've been on the wrong side of the law was due to hard alcohol, never beer.

So, I will stick to beer until I can reach the AF zone. I hope I am getting close; I am getting very impatient! (that semicolon was for you, PhoenixRising!). I will continue to titrate up, since so far I have not had any SE (which does plant a small doubt in my mind as to whether the BAC they sent me is the real thing).

    I'll keep posting!

I found a fairly big difference in Pacifen (weak) vs Lioresal (strong).
You are still at a low dose. I'd say go up in dosage if your SE's are non-existent and you've been at 60 for a few days.

I had a weekend of binge-drinking due to hard liquor as well. I seriously need to stay away from the stuff. I've done pretty week this week; I feel I am getting close to the switch.

    Thanks for the semicolon.

The BAC I ordered was from 4rx.com, brand name of Fexobac, mfg. by GenPharma, which seems to be a legitimate company. GenPharma has a pretty sophisticated website, listing all drugs they manufacture and their brand names, and it includes Fexobac. So, I will keep going to keep going under the assumption that they are the real thing, bumping up to 75 mg starting this evening.

I also use Fexobac from 4rx.com and think that it's the real deal - I use it interchangeably with 20mg baclofen (made by IVAX) that I have a US filled prescription for. I really can't tell the difference between them. -tk

Well, I just realized I screwed up my last dose (taken about 15 min ago) by accidentally taking 2 of the 25mg pills instead of 2 of the 10 mg! ops!: So, if I experience some SE in the next couple hours, which I haven't since I started taking BAC, I'll know it's the real thing.

I hope the oops causes you no discomfort! Would you mind sharing why you selected baclofen as opposed to one of the other choices, like topiramate? I'm new and trying to get it all figured out. Thanks!

Actually, it was primarily Dr. Amiesen's book that caused me to go ahead and try the BAC. I did consider the topa but the potential side effects scared me off. I can deal with being a little bit sleepy but not with being confused and having trouble concentrating which is what I have heard is common with topa (I encourage replies from anyone currently on topa that has not experienced this). My job requires me to be on top of my game mentally at all times and I didn't want to gamble on those SE.

However, if the BAC doesn't work for me, I will definitely try the topa because even that is better than continuing to drink!

Hope your SEs don't turn out bad. I'm up to doses of 37.5mg, and they hit me pretty hard - my lips go kind of numb, and I get a weird body-high. I accidentally took two doses last night (I think), and I felt really drugged/sedated, woozy, and out of it. I recovered in a couple hours of partial napping. If you don't get any SEs at all, I'd start wondering about the efficacy of your pills.. what brand did you say you ended up with? I'm on Lioresal, and anecdotal evidence here says it's "strong." One would expect 25mg to be 25mg of baclofen regardless of brand, but clearly this is not the case.

The brand is Fexobac from GenPharma, sold by 4rx.com. Its about an hour since I took the "overdose", still no SE yet. My size and body weight (6'1, 240 lbs) could be a factor in why it might take a higher dosage for me to start to feel the effects, but I should feel something soon if the pills are actually BAC.

Hoping you'll be fine, and will stay online with us to let us know. BUT, do you have a plan or someone nearby to help if SEs kick in?

Hang in there kids. :l We've been doing this for a while now on MWO and not a single person has ever reported that they've gotten fake baclofen from an online pharmacy. 4rx is used by many members here.

Actually, I don't have anyone nearby, but I'm not overly concerned about the SE being dangerous, probably just extremely uncomfortable or annoying. One of the reasons that I even started taking BAC to begin with was the fact that it appears to be a very safe drug even at high doses.

But, I do plan on staying online for at least the next few hours so I will keep you all posted as to the progression of SE, if any. But, that 5:00 hour just rolled around and I couldn't hold off the cravings any longer so I had to crack my first beer of the night. We'll see if the extra BAC at least helps me drink less tonight.

Pie, I forgot to add that I also selected BAC because one of the beneficial SE is said to be relief from anxiety, which has been a chronic problem of mine (and probably many others with alcohol problems)

                            update

Well, after a couple hours at the accidental increased dosage I did feel different - not a completely unpleasant feeling, just kind of a weird sensation. But, since the SE were not that bad, I am going to try to stay at the increased dosage for a few more days and then titrate up from there. Hope to hit my switch even sooner!
