I made a mistake last night and took 70mg instead on 60mg I woke up this morning my head was really fuzzy and just the thought of drinking almost made me throw up and funny thing I didn't want to smoke either...


I don't feel indifferent to Al but I'm not craving it and I'm disgusted by it actually so I'm not sure if it's the switch because I thought the switch made u feel indifferent...

Doesnt sound like the switch, or at least not how I felt. I did become indifferent but maybe the switch feels different for everyone?

I had a similar experience around 70mg after titrating up quickly (I'm at 150 now). I think there's something like a "fake switch" where you suddenly just don't feel much like drinking, but I can pretty much guarantee you that if you decide to test yourself and have a few, you'll wind up drunk and have the worst hangover you've ever experienced. This is the time period/dosage where I started to be able to control my cravings more through willpower, and when I really started noticing the positive effects of the baclofen.

WTG FM! I've experienced that before, where I felt so crappy that I felt like I'd puke if I drank.
You ran with it, I assume, and had an AF evening?

Now, I have never experienced the bad hangover bac effect.

that would be correct and even right as I type I still feel disgusted about it and I have zero cravings it's about 2:00 here and by now I would have had atleast 3 cigs I've had 1 I not craving a smoke either. The Bac u sent me is much stronger then pacifen (sp) that is a good thing

Yes, I noticed that about Lioresal as well. Makes it a better value.

I didn't ever know I needed to look for a switch. I just assumed the loss of cravings was what I needed. It happened to me somewhere along the way and was clearly present at 60 mg. I occasionally needed 80-100 mg on a few days -don't know why, just "nervous that I might drink". But now at almost 6 months of sobriety I am tapering. I am on 40-50/day at present. Cravings have not returned so far. If they do I plan to step up one pill/day until they leave. I feel such a sense of relief that I have an option besides alcohol abuse. I know of one other person who spontaneously quilt smoking while on bac as well. It seems the reward pathway and withdrawals are similar.

Mama,
Are you AF on 40?
If not you can go up to 60/day. IMO you can safely increase slowly (20 mg more every 3 days) until you can be consistently AF. If on the way you get unacceptable side effects step back a dose and wait a few more days the go up. It is an individual case of one (you).

I would suggest 45 for 3 days then 50 for 3 days then 55 for 3 days to avoid side effects. I am very sensitive to SEs and have never attempted a 20 mg increase. I went from 235 to 250 (my biggest mg increase so far) and I was so dizzy I had to go back to bed!

Going from 40 to 60 is an increase of 50% - not for the faint of heart! If you're not working or driving, you may decide to give it a try.

Hi everyone
This is my first post.
I went on Baclofen on script from my doctor and it helped enormously not only in helping me stop daily drinking but also with carb cravings.
My doctor gave up practice and I had to withdraw from the bac and all the problems returned. I ended up putting on 14 lbs in 8 weeks and getting in a right mess.
My only option, that I am aware of anyway, has been to order from India at a very hefty price so I am working my way up and am on 75 mg a day from today.
thing is I never really figured out how to know how high to go when I first used the Bac last year and went up to 120 mg but just guesswork really.
Would be v grateful to hear from other members about how to assess when that point has been reached so I can get it right this time.
Also if there is anyone who can advise a good place to buy online that would be helpful as the pharmacy I use is v expensive and I an unemployed and finding the money is hard. I am in the UK by the way.
