    Starting Nal

    Hi everyone,
I've just come back from the doctor who has prescribed me Naltrexone.
Was just wondering how bad the side effects that people got & what time of the day is the best to take it??:thanks:

    Xavier,

I'm not sure what the best time is for taking it. I think the Sinclair method says one hour before drinking. I used naltrexone a few years back before the Sinclair method existed but it did help with cravings. I didn't tolerate naltrexone well at first, nausea being the biggest problem. I minimized that by taking it with meals and also taking some pepto bismol. After a week or so the side effects went away and I was able to take it whenever I wanted.

xavier, take 25mg for the first few times you take it and take it one hour before drinking. See how you get on with the 25mg dose and then after a few days or so if you are feeling ok on this dose up it to 50mg. best of luck

            Hi Xavier

You don't say on this thread, are you taking it for abstinence or following TSM?
I don't come here much anymore but you can always mail me at rotunda 2000 at hotmail dot com (no spaces). Might be able to help with Bac emergencies

Nal made me dizzy and nauseated. I was told to take it regularly. (Not the Sinclaire method). Stopped it as I was doing just fine on the Baclofen alone and the side effects were troublesome. I think I could have gotten used to it if I had had to but didn't.
Good Luck, Something has to work!
