    My Baclofen Journey

    Hi Fickle,
Just wondering, why do you take those small doses at 6 and 9 am?
I'm on 70mg/ day, which I take in two 35mg doses at midday and 6 pm. I find this more effective than 3 doses of 25 mg, even though it adds up to 5 mg less per day.

Did you try shifting to dosages around, to at least give you some "drug-free" work time?
    Just a thought.

        My Baclofen Journey

        Thanks Seethepony,
I might try that out - very attractive idea to have a clear head for the morning. Will shift today to 10am - 20mg, 12pm 20mg, 3pm 30mg, 6pm 40mg (110) and see how I go.

Thanks for the link to the Baclofen Doctors thread Ig, I've read that with interest and subscribed to the thread https://www.mywayout.org/community/f2...per-45334.html so will follow that with interest.

I certainly don't want to be on a high dose forever due to cost as well as struggling with brain fog at work. I had to weigh up how much anxiety feeling forgetful was generating. I have found that being at a lower dose is easier on my brain and although I think about drinking, I can resist that on my current dosage.

I also need the anti anxiety effect - and think it's the number ONE greatest benefit of baclofen and the reason I was able to go AF without the troubles I used to experience.

          Vitamin regime?

          Hello Fickle:

My brother is taking bac - he's quite serious now about quitting. He's in the middle of a binge so drinking alot AND titrating up on bac.

I'd like to tell him about the vitamin regime- could you share that with me?

          TQ,
          Susanna

            My Baclofen Journey

            Hi Susanna,

I did email Saph to see if she minded my sharing the vitamin advice, and even though she didn't reply yet, I'm sure she wouldn't mind.

The supplements that Sapph and now I take daily are:

gaba 750MG - 1X MORNING and 1 hour before bed
            VItamin B3 - 500mg 1x morning and 1 hour before bed.
(you can take extra when feeling more anxious - up to 4x day I Get these from Golden Glow in 250 tab bottles, only costs about $23.00 a bottle.)
            VItamin B Complex - 2x daily
            Vitamin C - 500mg x 6 daily
Magnesium - 2x daily (The best one is Dr. Sandra Cabots as it is much more bio-available. You can take up to 4x daily.)
            Flaxseed Oil Caps. 6x daily
            ZInc 1x daily
Lecithin Capsules 1x before each meal
            VItamin B12 1x daily
            Tyrosine 500mg 1x daily

I found all of these online at Vitamins, Minerals and Dietary Supplements | Buy Online at Golden Glow except for the Tyrosine and the gaba. I take the MWO gaba and I'm still looking for B12 and Tyrosine. Its a bit annoying at first searching on golden glow as a heap of random stuff comes up on the first few pages so you need to scroll through. Have a look and see how you go with finding what you want. It seems a bit expensive but if you break it down to daily doses and if you truly feel better then it's worth it.

I did have problems sleeping before with bac but have found with this regime that I dont have trouble any more. Mind you I have cut down on the bac from 180 to 120 since getting AF.

Today I tried not taking any bac until 10am and then only 20mg and 20mg at 12pm, 30 at 3pm and 30mg at 6pm. Thats only 100mg. I find I am thinking far too much about Al. Only 12 days AF really so it's too soon to slip up. Tomorrow I think I'll go back to my 120mg dose and stay there till I make 30 days. 14 days was always a danger point for me to get past so I'm not taking any risks for the rest of this week!

Thanks Reggie for that great advice... maybe you should say that on the other thread...the hot topic at the moment seems to be over there: https://www.mywayout.org/community/f2...tml#post982116

It's fine for those that are comforably AF to taper down and a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to them! As for me, I'm still in a vulnerable state and I should also add... I recently had got some good AF time under my belt and then had a full-on emergency at work and forgot to take my bac... the stress and the panic alltogether led me to have a full blown relapse. Just for one night but I really stuffed up big time.

I'm back on my 130/day dose and stablising with small doses of Al, modding etc. Will patiently mod towards sobriety i hope. I personally should not RUSH towards AFdom as I tend to hit the ground Extremely hard when I fail.

So! Back to the daily dose and discipline for moi.

Just so, my biggest problem while I'm on bac: MY BRAIN: REMEMBERING WHEN to take the dose and REMEMBERING WHETHER OR NOT I TOOK IT half an hour after!!!

THIS SERIOUSLY FREAKS ME OUT!! Especially because of the risks.

              Ok, enough RANT from me

If that's the biggest problem I've got a solution.

Take 1/2 your daily dose in the morning when you get up. The other half put in a small bag in your pocket. If you find it there and its after 2 o'clock take it. Just remember to check your pockets before you go to bed.

One good thing about bac is that it is quite quick in onset less than an hour actually. so i agree with ig that it could be used on an as needed basis once one were consistently abstinent. It is a case by case situation I am sure. It won't cause the extinction of pleasure tho so should be used in lieu of drinking rather than to stop the fun of drinking.

I find that bursts of intense exercise even when I am knackered kicks cravings onto the curb......put some energetic music on and jump around the loungeroom....literally burn the bastard out of your head!! For example, I felt a sneaky uneasiness this morning......I hadnt a class to do or go to....so I ramped up the music REALLY LOUD, did 30 mins of high energy exercise and like magic...no craving...maybe you can think about dancing the craving away. Single mummas have a lot on their plate, but its important to actively think of ways to get some me time everyday
I'm reading through this whole thread, thinking OMG there's so much to THINK about. But, this made total sense to me.
I have lots of other comments and questions, and will post again, after I get up-to-date. But, I had to let you know, though I'm no longer a single "mum" I so don't do the best for me when I get home from a frazzling day at work.
                      Thank you for posting.

                          Hi, hopless,

I just saw your post and only have a sec. Read all you can here. Someone may come along and post the pages of the studies. There's a French study you should read. Each of us titrate up on baclofen our own ways. I started at 30 mgs and went up 10 mgs every fourth day. I didn't drink much going up and I think that helps. I was lucky and hit my switch at 80 mgs. I maintain at 60 mgs. Welcome!
