    Newsweek Article on Alcoholism

    Hi all,

I came across this article this morning:

    Deconstructing Alcoholism - Newsweek

It focuses mostly on The Sinclair Method and naltrexone, but also mentions antabuse, campral and topamax. I kept hoping that I would see baclofen mentioned, as it's been so helpful to so many of us here, but there was nothing. I read through all the comments, and no one mentioned it. I went ahead and posted a comment mentioning Dr. Ameisen's book and the basis of it. I haven't received my baclofen from 4RX yet, but I have high hopes for it, especially after continuing to see more and more success stories here, so I felt it my duty to put the word out there and hopefully Bac can help more people!

Just wanted to share. At least things are going in the right direction, I think. I don't think we would've seen Topamax mentioned in an article like that a few years ago.
    Better Living Through Chemistry

Switched at 180mgs of Baclofen on 1/31/11, and again on 10/8/11 at 200mgs.

Could've been a swan on a glassy lake, could've been a gull in a clipper's wake. Could've been a ladybug on a windchime, but she was born a dragonfly.

Very interesting, thanks for sharing this. It seems, to me anyway, that more physicians are open to using drug therapy in addition to behavioral therapy as opposed to hehavioral therapy alone.

My primary MD used to head up a rehab center so he keeps up on the latest developments and prescribes NAL to me without issue and was very curious about Baclofin when I had my last appt.

The Sinclair Method - well, for me, that's another story I'll post later.

Thank you for posting the article. I'm sending it to my friend who is skeptical of my decision to do the Sinclair Method. And to my husband, who thankfully, is supportive.
