    Drug testing for Baclofen?

Hey Everybody, I have researched this forum and found limited info on baclofen and drug testing. I have random drug testing, basic panel for illegal drugs at work. Does baclofen at high dosage show up on this type of test? Baclofen appears to have some of the make up of barbiturates. Also does anyone know does Dr. Levin write prescriptions for baclofen over the phone with a consultation? Or do I need to travel to his office in Chicago? Any response to these questions would be greatly appreciated. I just want to say many of you AF folks have inspired me and I appreciate all you do. Thank you.:thanks::new:

    JD,

I cannot say definitively that Baclofen won't show up on a drug panel, but it is not one of the drugs they are looking for.

If you get a prescription, you are covered anyway.

Dr. Levin gave me my script over the phone. He is an amazing man.

    Good luck and :welcome:,

If you have a prescription, you're covered as Cinders says. This is the stuff employers typically look for -

Edit: a 5 panel test is the minimum and usual test according to my research (the "street" drugs"). IMO, the 5 panel is plenty for an office job; operating some sort of machinery, working up 15 stories on a construction job, driving a bus, etc., then I could see testing for drugs that could even be acquired through a prescription.

      MARIJUANA (5 panel)
      COCAINE (5 panel)
      PCP (5 panel)
      AMPHETAMINE/METHAMPHETAMINE (5 panel)
OPIATES (morphine, heroin, codeine) (5 Panel)
      METHADONE
      BARBITURATES (phenobarbital, etc.)
      BENZODIAZEPINES (Valium, Xanax, Ativan, etc.)
      OXYCODONE (narcotic pain relievers)
      MDMA (ecstasy)
      PROPOXYPHENE (Darvon, Darvocet)

      Oh, and welcome :welcome:

Baclofen is not chemically related to barbiturates in any way. It is most similar to GABA - gamma-aminobutyric acid, a naturally occuring neurotransmitter in the human body. In fact, chemically, it is *IS* GABA with an added phenol ring (which may make it more potent by enabling it to cross the blood brain barrier-some thing I read somewhere).

It's the most un-fun drug in the world, so taking it can't be illegal
