    Calling all non-successful BAC takers

Hanging. Judging by your response to my comment, I believe you took it in the spirit in which it was given. I was also heartened that someone could appreciate my style which I know can be misinterpreted and has often got me into trouble particularly when drunk.

Seethepony I shall modify my comments about cats in the future.................maybe.

Houtx I am a dick, wanker, bastard. Many other other names would also be accurate descriptions at times. This is one of the reasons I find myself at MWO trying a relatively untested, untried, mind neurotransmitter altering drug, Which I might be required to take at daily high doses for the rest of my life.

The term "pussy" was lightly used and not apparently misconstrued. I'm sorry that your sensibilities have been offended but that appears to be your problem not mine.

Please call me Ig not IGNO (Ignoramus) as this offends my sensibilities. However the choice is yours. About this speaking volumes, I presume that is the internal dialogue in your head.

For clarification sake I think this is a very valid and useful thread.

BTW I'm also in many many ways a kitten.

Wort - I really like your statistics on your signature, it gives me hope.
Ig - You make me laugh, and I am praying you and I stay the course.

So, you all think the amounts you take during the day make a difference. Meaning, increasing the dose towards afternoon. But, Wort, your amounts in the evening would make me not sleep at all. Bac makes me stay awake if I take it too late, though it puts me to sleep during the day. Sigh. Thinking this through of course.

        Much thanks

Where are you at now? I know you've probably posted somewhere but I tend to be self centered when reading posts.

I'm at 160mg, about 1 month in but I think I'm going to hover here for a bit until I get used to it. I want the results as quickly as pos. but I don't want to have to have to go backwards.

          Dosage

Our doctor, who treats liver patients, is using Baclofen successfully. He says to use doses of up to 30 mg and to space them at regular intervals like clockwork to keep the Baclofen in the system. Keeping a lower dose of 30 mg or less helps keep the side effects down. If you want to increase, then take the dose more frequently, don't increase the dose. Take an extra dose before bed and take a dose if you wake up in the night and first thing in the morning. We are only a week in and it works when you use it properly. If you come off Baclofen, go back on it at the dose you came off at. If it makes you sick, keep taking it. Some people are taking 30 mg an hour without side effects although you shouldn't operate heavy machinery while asleep.

          Olivier Ameisen

In addiction, suppression of symptoms should suppress the disease altogether since addiction is, as he observed, a "symptom-driven disease". Of all "anticraving medications used in animals, only one - baclofen - has the unique property of suppressing the motivation to consume cocaine, heroin, alcohol, nicotine and d-amphetamine"

I agree that taking BAC as frequently as possible is ideal for keeping the level of BAC in our system constant, but I don't think I would ever be able to keep up with a regimen like that, having to take it every hour or so once I got up to the higher dosage. I know I would be accidentally skipping doses constantly.

And that is *exactly* what happened to me when I tried it that way. I still take my largest dose 1 hour before my witching hour. Seems to work for me. And, that way, if it makes me sleepy I am home so it all works out.

Hangin,' I take trazadone for sleep and it works wonderfully. Took it when I was on bac, too. It's not freaky like ambien (the whole sleepwalking/sleepdriving thing). It's an anti-depressant, so that may help you as well.

Ig - I knew you had asked me a question on one of these threads. Took me awhile to find it. I just went up to 85 from 75. I have titrated extremely slowly due to ambivalence about stopping drinking. If I want to drink I conveniently forget to take bac.

Plus operating that heavy machinery while asleep is challenging.

Yo..................... I forgot what was the question. Oh yeah.......... and why are you ambivalent about stopping drink?

I like wine a lot, I like to relax, my husband and I enjoy our evening hour before dinner, however he quits at 6:30 and I don't. I'm getting more determined however, because I don't' want health issues and my 22 year old son has started drinking, just a couple, but it rattled me that he could end up like me drinking 1-2 bottles a night. Plus, on 50 mg, my unit intake comes down to 25 a week, as opposed to 48 a week and I feel better about that. BUT, I really would like to not have ANYTHING have mastery over me, and wine does. So that is making me more determined lately. A self revelation.

turn smilies on in your profile and use post reply instead of quick reply...:H just showing off:H

Yeah me too. I like the calm after the storm so to speak. I have a frantic (in my head)2 hour work window and after I like to let the al wash over me however it also drags me out with the undertow too often!
                          Thanks for the smilies.
