Hi I have high blood pressure

It raises it. Combined with a lot of booze, it's HORRIBLE.

    But worth it.

Hi I have high blood pressure

I've been meaning to post a thread about baclofen and my hypertension for a while. I take Atenolol (a beta blocker) 50mg/day, Losartan (an angiotensin II receptor blocker) 100mg/day, and just stopped taking Amlodipine (a calcium channel blocker) 10mg/day. It has been my experience that baclofen raises systolic blood pressure and slightly lowers diastolic blood pressure. I'm a 39y/o male in pretty decent shape with a few extra pounds. Before medicine controlled my hypertension, I saw my bp at 210/110 more than once and bested out at 155/100. With bp meds I was a good 140/90 maybe 139/89. At times baclofen has made my bp skyrocket as bad as 174/96 and 169/115 around 125mg/day. MOSTLY THOUGH, AFTER 6 MONTHS IT HAS LEVELED OUT AND LOWERED MY BP TO AROUND 120/77 at 280/mg day!!!! Baclofen has provoked bouts of edema in my legs and the Amlodipine was already swelling my legs something fierce, so I dropped it to 5mg and then 0mg, and now I don't need it at all. I can't find a rhyme or reason to it, but sometimes I have cycles of bad side effects like bp explosion and edema (and a whole lot worse). Right now I'm at 139/77, a little high for me lately, but I'm having a whole lot of other SE flares as well. -tk

Hi I have high blood pressure

Thankyou for all the replies . My blood pressure is 140 /100 whatever that means?
I think it is my drinking thats making it high. Im 8 or 9 days AF , loosing count now. so im not doing bad, so i think i will hold off from taking baclofen until my blood pressure goes down.

Hi I have high blood pressure

Drinking raises my blood pressure significantly. I routinely run 160/110 while drinking, and I usually drink a lot of caffeine to compensate for the lack of sleep/hangover, which raises it further.

I am now on 225mg/day of baclofen, significantly overweight (260lbs at 5'10") and I just read my BP at 139/80, which is high side of normal, but just fine for me.

Lots of people seem to have the high blood pressure reaction to bac, but the reduction in alcohol and caffeine seems to help the BP more than bac raises it for me.
