    My progress with Baclofen

Has anyone heard of Synergy training (that's what it's called here -- I think it's resistance training).

(I know, this is the wrong thread, but it just occurred to me now reading Lo0p's post.)
Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life... And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

SMC, great news, very glad for you. Keep us posted. I'm very interested in learning how long term bac recovery works, if indeed high dose bac is required for a lifetime or not. I'm hopeful that the 'rewiring' over a year or 18 months (Dr L) would mean that in 1-2 years, most of us could get off bac and perhaps not even need it for anxiety.

Resistance training has been my life until AL took me entirely ten years ago. I always drank but I always worked out like 2 hours a day after a long day in the office. Half that time was resistance training. I have muscles under all this lard, even now, though you couldn't tell by looking.

Very interested in Lo0p's schedule, Lo0p will you post on your exercise thread?

Truth be told, I've used a few different routines over the years and gotten results on all of them.

No matter who it's for (man, woman, elephant) or the purpose of the routine (muscle gain, fat loss, tighten my tummy or whatever) it needs to be built around 3 core lifts: Squat, Deadlift and Bench.
Thanks Lo0p! Sounds awesome, can't wait!

I totally agree with the core lifts methodology. And appreciate the visual that it gave me of an elephant doing deadlifts. :H

Beatle, I think a sleep thread is a good idea! That would give all of us a central place to chime in and bandy about ideas for getting a good night's sleep on bac (at least those of us that are past the lower levels during which the bac itself gives us a great night's sleep!).

I've got to get my day started, have spent way too much time on the computer already, but if someone else wants to start it in the meantime, I will certainly post my experiences/findings. Otherwise I'll jot it down on my ever-growing to do list! :H

Back when I experienced insomnia before bac, melatonin (I also used it with valerian) helped a lot at first for giving me a good night's sleep. Then they only helped with getting me to sleep, but not for staying asleep. Like every other sleep supplement, I seemed to develop a tolerance to them very quickly

I did look at Ambien (discussed a few pages back in this thread), but decided to go with what I knew already worked wonderfully for me.

My dad's had a xanax script for a long time, and I asked him about the whole tolerance/withdrawals issue. He said he had a period of about 4 months that he took xanax nightly. He didn't develop a tolerance and had no problem discontinuing the nightly use after the 4 months. So that gives me hope.

Tim Ferriss advocates the kettleball swing out, as the best single movement lift. I wonder what size a female should start out with, I haven't worked out for a year. Guess it's time to try different weights out at the store (bullocks!).

Is, I can't find the post to quote you, but you said that 180mg's is your personal limit. From the sound of things, that should be enough, but I was wondering why you had a limit, and not even a particularly high one at that?

I know personally I would have gone stratospheric if it needed it.

Actually, no, I never had a personal limit. I did say that I bumped up to 180 last week. I was only going to stay here for about 3 days, but decided to take it out a whole week, as it seemed to be having such an good impact on me.
I would've gone as I high as I needed to go, assuming nothing catastrophic occurred!

I'd love to be able to answer that! I did sort of "fake kettlebell" swings! I had a pair of dumbbells with removable plates, and I think I did my swings with 10 pounds on it, plus the small bar was a few pounds.. so maybe about 12.5 pounds? I would just hold on to the top plate with both hands, it felt very natural, so I imagine that it probably was rather similar. I was looking into getting real kettlebells for awhile, then got lazy w/the working out, blah blah blah. I saw them on sale recently, I think it was at Marshall's. I'd probably start with about 15 pounds and work with that for awhile if I were going to get into it again.
Sorry it's not a "real" answer :H but maybe you'll find something helpful in it!

I too love kettlebell swings! Last summer I took the introductory classes for a Crossfit program. At the time, the $50/month fees were too much, so I ended up quitting (sadly). I think that I'll be able to re-join Crossfit soon! Yay! It isn't like the slow movements that beatle mentioned--it's actually the opposite: doing as many reps as possible in as short a period as you can (with trainers who watch your form). I LOVED Crossfit. I cannot WAIT to get back into it! :h

That's funny that you mention Crossfit. Moglor recommended it too, and I'd never heard about it. So I started Googling, and I couldn't really make out what it was. Something about the way that firemen and policemen train, but it's good for everyone. You can build your own gym and do the workout of the day, etc.... I didn't really understand what the Crossfit gyms were all about, if it was more geared towards men, etc. I'd love to hear more about it! Since this is my thread, feel free to go into detail! :H
It did sort of sound intriguing, but I was afraid to go try it out for some reason. How'd you even get into it?

Is--no problem! Crossfit is how the police, firemen, and military get into "fighting shape" and it's hugely how they get into shape around here! It's really for everyone, though, especially for people who aren't as concerned about their build (lo0p, etc.) and more concerned about building functional strength. It's amazing.

Crossfit workouts are as short as 8 minutes or so, and as long as 15+ minutes. They are absolutely BRUTAL. I remember one day last summer, we had a workout that lasted 9 minutes I believe, and I couldn't really walk well for 3+ days afterwards...my quads were that trashed. You do the workouts as fast as is humanly possible. It was brutal. And yet, from those very short workouts, you end up building strength like nobody's business!

It is a very bare-bones program, but what you don't pay for (machines, etc.) you get back in one-on-one personal training. The trainers are always there to watch your form. It was the most brutal workout I've ever experienced, but also the most useful re: having someone there to tell you what you're doing wrong. It is very useful for those who want to get into shape without having to do it completely on your own (which I've always failed at).

So much fun, and soooo difficult. I've never worked out so hard in my life.
