Baclofen Somnolence - How Long Does It Last ?

Somnolence is my only side effect on Baclofen so far.
My current dosage is 10/20/10mg daily.
Cravings are vastly reduced but not gone.
Just wondering, for those of you who did experience somnolence, how long it lasted after each incremental increase ?
Would appreciate some feedback.

Lucky girl. I'm not sure it's too soon to say I loathe you, Bridget. It wasn't until I was falling head first into immovable objects that I became even slightly preoccupied with anything other than the sauce. Yes, my jealousy compels me to resent your success.

I initially offset my sleepiness with suprahuman doses of OTC amphetamine and caffeine. When the amount of baclofen was too much too offest with stimulants, I used a dose that I knew I could tolerate during my "working" hours. After that I would titrate to a level commensurate with the somnolence that I experienced every night as a drunk. At first, I drank and I passed out head first into things. Now that I don't drink, I just trot off to bed using my arms to keep the walls from screwin' with me. The walls are not without a sense of irony.

I don't know Bridget. i think it varies. and I think it changes, too. I can tell you that at 60 I am very, very wound up. Definitely feel speedy.

On my run yesterday I had to check each footfall, just to make sure my feet were still there! Ha.

For me it really only lasted a couple of weeks. with Bac I could fall asleep within 5 minutes of laying my head down - loved that! I hit my switch at 60mg - 20-20-20. I dont know if it got worse with dose increases, I dont think it did. Keep with it, it's a life saver!

No idea if they're connected, but I've never felt as if I experienced any true somnolence from the baclofen. Other than mistakenly walking into the closet to pee the first night I took baclofen, I've had very few side-effects and tremendous beneficial effects. From what I've read, the SE's seem to dissipate in 3-4 days for most people.

Oddly, the sleepiness has subsided today, just as I was starting to wonder how effective this was all going to be.
Persistence is definitely the key to success here I see.

Hi Bridget,

I take 60-90 mg. of Bac per day, and I notice that when I take it after breakfast, I am not sleepy until after lunch, and it hits me HARD. I get so sleepy that my eyes turn a fiery red (think Vampire Woman with a really bad hangover) and it lasts a good 1/2 hour. I drink tons of ice tea at lunch to offset the sleepiness. I also take 1 Advil PM and 30 mg. of Bac before I go to bed and I sleep like a baby....never wake up in the middle of the night. It's great!

It works sooooo much better than Naltrexone as far as mitigating cravings. It's been a lifesaver for me.

My sleepiness peaked every time in increased my dose for the first few weeks. Then it slowly improved over a month or so. It helps to spread the doses out in smaller amounts. At one point I took just 10 mg every 3 hours to avoid falling asleep 1 hour after my dose. Good luck. Glad you seem to be responding well

I increased about 10mg every 3-4 days. By the 3rd or 4th day the sleepies were mostly gone.
