So glad you found your way here. I am 58 years old female and tried everything before getting on Bac. It has worked very well (100% AF for almost 11 months) for me. It has worked well for over 80% who try it in one study. I hope it helps you with your life threatening addiction. Dr Levin sounds like a very compassionate physician. Keep us appraised of your progress. I look forward to positive reports.

          Hi Serenity,
Baclofen is the way to go. I started in August and within about 10 days I was seeing record periods of abstinence. The last time I'd gone more than 4 days AF was 12 years ago. Suddenly I was going week long, two week, three week stretches of abstinence without really any effort on my part. i reacted to quite low doses of baclofen - having braced myself for long climb to stratospheric doses, I was astounded and delighted to find myself reacting at 75mg/day.
My only regret was that I wasted a year dithering, looking for a doctor who'd give me a prescription. I ended up ordering online and it was the smartest thing I've ever done. I'm glad you have a doc who can help you but if things take too long, just do it yourself.
          Good luck!

            Hi, Serenity.
We have a lot in common it seems.
I have found a way out from under the anxiety with baclofen. You won't believe it. I'm drinking a little less, but feel noticeably different about drinking. I actually stopped at the store for food on the way home last night. Before my first glass of wine. Inconceivable a month ago.

I concur with see about not waiting. Dr. L prescribed for me before I 'hired' him, without any money or discussion of money. (I did actually cry when I spoke with him the first time. Such a kind man. No judgement from him about this disease.) I also initially ordered from overseas, which for all of my initial trepidation, was not a bad way to go and I'm glad I still have the stash.

Good luck, whichever route you go.

              Hi there and welcome Seek

After almost giving up hope of finding a solution I found Bac, 30 years of being an alcoholic I have now been effortlessly sober for 13 days. The stuff works.

I would say get hold of the Bac as soon as possible and start. He'll most likely recommend 3 doses of 5mg per day to begin with anyway.

              Good luck

Thank you all so very much for your kind comments! It's so wonderful to hear about your successes with this treatment. My consultation is scheduled for December 29th, and I'm literally counting the days until I get there.

My feelings at this point are that if I order baclofen online from abroad, it will probably take a while to ship anyway.

I'm so glad to hear that baclofen has helped you (and so many others)! I can't wait to try it myself. And ignominous--thank you for your account. Very informative!

Bless you all! The world needs more people like you.

                    Seeking,
The world has many desperate alcohol dependent people some of whom are so relieved to finally find an alternative to death as a way out. Having found it it is only right to "share" what we have found in hopes that others can benefit as well. I would suggest you go ahead and let Dr L prescribe for you now and then also get the consult you scheduled. There is no reason to wait. The money you spend /day on alcohol far exceeds the cost of generic baclofen.
                    Good Luck, And again, Welcome!
                    Sunny

                      Wow, what a great read.

There is no need to wait until Dec 29th. Go to your Family Doctor and ask him to look up Baclofen online, right there in his office. I did that with mine...and after 5 minutes he agree to prescribe.

Here is Canada it is a bit expensive....around $90 for120 tablets...so just less than a dollar for each. Anyway...if money is the issue for you, please email me privately and I will help you out, because Baclofen IS IT...right now for us.

So, try your family doctor first and then if you have to go online to get started in the meantime, then please let me know and I will help you with the expense, ok?!

                      Take care

generic bac in US at target: $30 for 240 10 mg. so only 12.5 cents/pill. even at my highest dose that was less than $1.50/day. It depends on the pharmacy so shop it around. Try getting the 10s rather than the 20s as they seemed to be significantly less expensive for some reason.
                        Good Luck

                          Welcome Seeking,
I hope BAC works for you. I gave up the first time to the side-effects back in April this year. Really wish I stuck with it. I gave up and went back to another 6 months of drinking.
I have now been Al free for 2 weeks thanks to BAC.
I hope it works for you too.
I use Inhouse which seem pretty good, reliable and the pills definitely seem to work.
                          Good Luck with it all.

Oh my gosh Sunny--I am so willing to accept help sooner! Part of me says, "Don't be rude, just wait until Dr. L has the time" has taken over. Do you know what I mean? I SO want to accept a prescription before I can pay him...but the other side is saying that I should wait. It's a real dilemma. I just HATE the idea that I'm taking something from him without compensating him.
