    Is anyone in New Zealand?

I'm looking for anyone who lives in New Zealand and is using Baclofen, or who knows if there are any doctors here who prescribe it? Any Australians are welcome to share their experiences as well.

    Hiya Susie's mum, and welcome!

Yep, there are a few N.Z.er's on the site. I'm not sure if any of them use baclofen or not. A couple of Aussies do. Can i suggest you also post on the 'Underoo's and friend's' thread in the 'General' section of the forum. There is a member here from N.Z. called 'Missbehaving', who you'll find on the above thread and elsewhere. Why not P.M. her, and ask her what she know's? I'm sure she wouldn't mind. Another Aussie here is 'Reggie' who has experience with baclofen, who i'm sure also wouldn't mind pointing you in the direction.

    Best wishes, G-bloke.

          Thanks, choice. An interesting name!
I've quickly scrolled a few of your posts, but how did you come to sobriety?
I cant find anything here in NZ now that seems the right treatment for her: I'm told she is so bad she needs long term rehab.

Sometimes I can't stand the name because dealing with an addiction really isn't my choice. I came to sobriety solely because of this website. The MWO website offered me the support and tools I needed to sober up. Everyone is different and need a combination of AA, rehab, medication, etc.

One thing that I am sure of is that there is no quick fix. I wish there was but there isn't. At the end of the day, it's up to the addict to stop. I don't think I would have stopped unless it was totally my decision. Mainly because of the tricks my addiction played on my brain. I think what your trying to do for your daughter is filled with so much love. I also think the more you both know about what's happening the better. There are tons of books on addiction, AA, al anon.. etc. I hope your daughter responds to your support. If you find yourself struggling and feeling alone in dealing with a loved ones addiction I would suggest Al anon. Years ago I went to Al anon and it has served me well. Is your daughter an adult? I'm sorry I don't know more about alcohol treatment in NZ. Someone else might.

            Strength to you,
            Choice
