Baclofen for me was a means to an end. I had to stop drinking. It has done that for me. However much I enjoy the positive benefits to my psyche I am not ready to give it responsibility for making me happy.
I get it, finally. Sorry for the delay, I was of course, viewing your experience through the ne-looking glass. I'm so relieved to be relieved of my angst I couldn't imagine exploring those feelings without a cushion. But I understand, now.
Good stuff, ig. "Thanks for sharing." :H Glad you found something other than a seedy internet cafe to type in! And someplace other than a seedier bar to...express yourself. :H

Lol Ne The seedy bars strangely don't hold the allure that they did whilst in drinking mode and that's coming from a guy that's getting in touch with his long lost libido.

No surprises here that I've returned to puffing, I think it was the withdrawal symptoms that drove me back to it. I lasted over 2 hours and then got stingy eyes and forehead perspiration. The strange thing is that when I did light up I didn't get the big rush. I have a 12 hour flight tomorrow which are killers if you're a determined smoker like myself. I'm one of those guys who goes in the toilet, takes a few long lung filling drags and exhales into a plastic bag. A liberal splash of the free cologne and I emerge with a Mr Bean expression of innocence and incredulousness. I'll let you know how it goes unless someone tells me I have to confine myself to alcohol angst.

I, for one, can think of no place I'd rather be, at this very moment, than a seedy bar in Bangkok.

Ig, I'm sending you an email. You may or may not be interested in it.

edit: aggh! I need your email addy, if you don't mind.

Seedy bars...........hmm. That's a whole new forum. In my opinion the Japanese do it best. Degeneration kept to a minimum and the skills of the hostesses at a premium!

Yeah, I'm right there with you. I would so rather be Iggy or Rusty right now, if I do say so myself. haha My local area is freezing, with LOTS of snow.

Bummer on the smoking Ig. I hear on the airport loo scenario. Why can't they put smoking sections in these buildings?? They can send 50 tons of metal up into the sky, surely they can put an air conditioner in the pub?

I'm finding on baclofen that my smoking definitely seems to be habit based, rather than craving based. Mind you, at 40 a day I suppose there isn't much time for a craving to start...

Loop, got it and v interesting.

My flight wasn't too bad, one moment of near despair when I started thinking about smoking but realised I had another 5 hours to touchdown. The rest of the time I believe I actually forgot about it as is my style when I am smoking!

Interested in the lack of rush so Ive been looking out for it. I can tell you categorically that it doesn't happen anymore. No immediate hit. No buzz. Basically the habit reinforcement no longer exists. I get withdrawal symptoms which reming me to smoke but I get no euphoria while smoking. Wiil try the NRT and changing my habits route to freedom soon!

I've increased my dose to 110mg because I anticipated thisto be a fairly stressful trip and although I'm as tight as a bow string I dont want to drink.

Tip, do you still get a buzz from your first drag of the day?

I haven't got a buzz from cigarettes for years. When I've stopped for a month or two, and restarted, the buzz is gone from about the third cigarette! Feel a bit cheated to think you get that rush at least once a day!

Baclofen is definitely changing something for cigarettes. They don't feel as nice. Saying that, I am smoking more than ever.

I certainly still used to get it. Especialy after doing some exercise. The mornings weren't that significant to me because I used to wake up at night and have a cig, still do. I'm sure there's a different feeling now, since being in England I am smoking roll ups, Old Holborn, and whether I make them thick or thin they all taste the same.
