:H
not laughing AT you. That post WAS actually funny.
:goodjob: Ig. congrats. 1 week?! Seriously, if a confirmed smoker like you can give 'em up, there is hope for the likes of a confirmed smoker like me.
Healthy is a big start toward ... what? Not being depressed.
I'll try to contain my natural inclination for cheerleading etc... over here with all you stoic British men, but it's kinda hard...
Dude. You're sober. Celebrate a bit!!! You haven't had a cigarette in a WEEK. WOOOHOOO! Perhaps you've just added enough time to be able to sort it all out, and you have the wherewithal to do it now that you're not all cloudy and out of sorts.
'kay. I'm done. Bac to ...whatever you were doing before.
:l, Ig.

On day 8, in true obsessive compulsive addictive style I reasoned that one week hadn't been so difficult so I could trust myself to have just one cigarette. I know, I know, I know but it was only one cig. I didn't smoke the next day just to show myself that I was in control but the next day I smoke 7 and realised what I was doing. I'm now about 36 hours smoke free but think I've got a handle on it!
I've also started to taper of Wellbutrin so hopefully wont become suicidal in the next few days. Wish me luck!Started Baclofen 3/9/10 Hit my switch at 250mg on 21/11/10 Present maintenance dose of 50mg : started drinking after 1 year, upped dose to 80mg and stopped: Tapered to 30mg, started 6 months of drinking, upped dose to 240mg to stop 12/7/12

once upon a time i used niacinamide (in powder form) for smoking cessation. it did seem to help, instantly. i wonder if you've heard of or tried that route? i'll dig through my drawers to find it and let you know what i come up with.

Hi Rudy. Good to hear about the booze and tough about the nicotine stains.
I'll read up about niacinamide though I'm pretty set on getting rid of this habit this time around. The muthafucking habit's got me smoking cheroots now as if they are the ethnic healthy alternative to tobacco so I am back to day one this morning with cravings!
Just a thought for you Rudy and something that I would have tried if I did it all again. When you reach your switch (foregone conclusion) I would try to stop smoking then. This is the highest dose of baclofen that you will be on and although psychologically, you will want to smoke, I expect the physical cravings will be much reduced. I know that you will think that you should concentrate on being AF at that time but really that will take care of itself and it may be the best opportunity in your life to knock smoking on the head.
As for my baclofen dosage I'm still at 60mg and no desire to drink. I noticed somewhere that Tip had a recurrence of somnolence at lower doses, I too have noticed some of the SEs returning at lower doses.
Now I have to go and find that website with the byline, "NEVER TAKE ANOTHER PUFF"Started Baclofen 3/9/10 Hit my switch at 250mg on 21/11/10 Present maintenance dose of 50mg : started drinking after 1 year, upped dose to 80mg and stopped: Tapered to 30mg, started 6 months of drinking, upped dose to 240mg to stop 12/7/12

I now believe those who say it's harder to stop smoking than quitting alcohol. And those people didn't even use baclofen.I'll do whatever it takes

It is indeed harder to quit cigarettes than it is booze. I must admit to having a couple recently, despite being fully aware about the myth of only 1 cigarette. My 6 week hurdle strikes again.
Fuck.

thanks for the tip, ig. i am getting near the switch i suspect, and will try on that idea. my slow typing will surely be faster without cigs (perhaps to the yawns of some reading these threads). my tongue won't hurt anymore. my lines won't increase as fast. my son won't call me out, having caught me trying to be sneaky.
i'll check out that no-puffing website, and finish hoeing out my kitchen and find that 'cinamide, and i'm calling my acupuncturist today... wish me luck, as i wish you luck. what a burden!

Rudy, I am putting that website as my home page. Its when I get complacent that I have that single cig.

What's a cheroot? I think Chantix can mess with some people's heads. I'm not sure if we should take it on HDB. Iggy, you are down to 60mg I believe. I guess that wouldn't be high dose, but be careful...if you go that route. This smoking stuff is very depressing. I was getting renewed hope from some of you, and was about to quit again (for more than one day). Everytime I buy a pack I tell myself this is the last one. I'm sure we all do that. Do you think Ig, being on baclofen is making you want to smoke more? I feel it is for me, but you are on half the dose I am.This Princess Saved Herself
