taw, maybe try halving your dose, but doubling the number of times you take it?

      Hope you feel better!

taw, I haven't really had any problems with nausea. That sounds really harrowing, though. Nutrition is an important part of the journey, I suspect. The speed bump may be that you have to take a couple of days at an insignificantly lower dose and then go bac up? I'm not sure and really have no advice to give. Just be well.
Otter has some advice about titration on another thread I just read and can't remember now, but HE knows!
I love ginger, btw, and it's been used to fight nausea for millenia. (or whatever. ha.) So figure out a way to stomach the taste!
Good luck, and hang in there sister! (Have the cravings started to abate yet? Are you drinking through the nausea? I know I would have. Hope you're not. 'cause OUCH.)
        xo

Trucker, that's quite a cocktail. Otter also has a thread about bac curbing withdrawal symptoms very effectively. (Maybe someone can patch that in here or send it to trucker? It's beyond me, atm.) Be safe friend. Read, read, read! It'll pay off in spades. And keep posting, there are always really good suggestions here. Welcome and be well!

          Remembered this:

I started off with 30mg of Bac to see how I would react to taking it as well as Nal and alcohol. The first day was ok, so I increased to 40mg baclofen and on the second day of taking this, I felt sick during the night. The third day of 40mg I felt so sick during the night that threw up three or four times. Was this the baclofen interacting with the alcohol?

The following day, I decided that if I was to continue taking the Baclofen, I would have to try to stay AF (throwing up is a big fear for me).

The beginning of this week marked four weeks without alcohol.

I still want to drink, but my desire to avoid throwing up has always been greater than my desire to drink, so at the moment I am alcohol free.

I am currently taking 130mg Baclofen daily, and I have not yet 'hit the switch', which people describe as experiencing indifference to alcohol, but there have been days where I have totally forgotten about alcohol. Perhaps this is just the way of the brain adjusting to a new routine.

Since I stopped drinking on baclofen, I have experienced virtually no side effects. The only difference I feel is that if I lay down on my bed and watch TV at 10pm (two hours after my last dose), in about 30 minutes or so, I fall asleep in the manner of someone who is controlled like a light switch. I have also noticed that my sleep tends to be more restful, and I am less likely to wake up in the night. Overall I would describe sleep to be similar to the way I used to sleep as a child.

Taw, I'm so sorry to hear you're in such distress. :upset:

When I thought I was going to vomit, I took anti-diarrheal and it helped settle my stomach.

If you get constipated, take magnesium a little at a time until you loosen up.

Calcium carbinate or citrate also help with the stomach for me, and I also took ginger capsules (not as good as Is' ginger but if you're vomity maybe you won't be able to take the pure stuff?)

Sounds like something is going on and it's getting dangerous. AL's have GI Tract issues, if you vomit too much you could cause bleed.

Definitely go down if that's the only drug you're taking and you're vomiting. I did that twice (50 to 25 to 50) and went back up a day later with great success.

              Hang in there sweetie.

Glad you got some more info Trucker. Perhaps forget the Librium and save it for when you are able to quit, but if you are already on the Bac you might not require it.

Taw--sorry you're going through that. I too have had bad nausea on bac, sometimes enough to make me feel like I was going to puke, but I never have. I can't imagine how hard that must be for you! But I admire your willingness to stick with the program. I found that I had much lessened SE's when I got to higher doses, inexplicable as that may sound. :l

Trucker: Welcome! I think it would be useful if you started an "introduction" thread and told us about your background and your Bac experience. From what I've seen, when people introduce themselves on other peoples' threads, they tend to get lost in the shuffle. Do start your own thread! We are anxious to read about your experiences. :h

Good news on the nausea Taw!

Being scared to go AF over the weekend is not twisted at all. In fact it is totally normal. The great thing about Bac is it takes the edge off and makes it easier to break the habitual part of drinking.

Way to go on the 120 mg. Keep us posted!

seems utterly ridiculous that I am scared...what the hell am I scared of??? This is what I want....

Maybe I am thinking about this too much!!! I tend to make things more difficult than they really are!

I was very scared about going AF, taw. Still am. Still can't believe it when I wake up and didn't drink the night before.
Try it! You might like it! And if not, you can always drink again. I promise. (Each time I stopped drinking for a moment, it made the next time that much easier.)
I also promise that you won't be made to feel badly about it if you do drink. That's why we're here. We have ALL tried to stop and not been able to.
I'm really glad that the vomiting has subsided. That sounds as difficult to navigate as the insomnia.
