I am new here and wondering how do you know if you should do Topa or Bac? I have read the book and I know she recc. topa but would love to hear how u have decided. I have drank a bottle of white wine a night with some nights off for 10 years. Got divoreced this year and dating seems to be "meeting for a drink" the one guy I seem to "see alot" drinks wine fairly easy so it is like it is ok for me too. Over the holidays I could easily go thru 2 bottles of pino grigio. My ex :new:complained all the time so it was harder to drink but know I have "free reign" if you will. sometimes it hits me and I black out and other times I am fine. I have a 13 year old at home and it really bothers him.
I think I want to stop or slow down big time so how do I decide which med is better for me? I am in the medical field so it will not be a problem for me to get either and I have good insurance.

Topiramate @300mg (= usual dose for alcohol problems) has pretty much side effects. Baclofen

Hi, change, and welcome.
I think that topa can have some long term v. serious consequences. (glaucoma/blindness) Perhaps you can get your hands on the related research before you make a decision?

Hi Whenwillichange, Please see my post on "Hello, everyone - My Baclofen Experience" thread started by Persona which I sent 11.46 this morning. Hope it helps you decide to start on Baclofen - wish it had been there for me a good 30 years ago. Nevertheless, life is great now that I found it just in time! K x :h
