Well, I managed to avoid being eaten by most things, although various bugs had their fill, and I itch like crazy. All very relaxing, but good to be back in civilisation all the same.

I managed to source a little more baclofen before I left, so was able to sit at 220mg's. This is a strange level for me. It's enough, but it's not. I wanted a drink, but as soon as I poured it, I didn't want to drink it, so lots of beers were thrown overboard. Then, sunset time would come, we would be drifting down the river, everyone would have a sundowner, and I wouldn't want one. I wanted to want one, but didn't. Being me, I would have one, but wouldn't drink it. As I say, it is an odd level for me.

I think I need to go up some. As soon as I resolve this ridiculous supply issue, that's what I'll do. On a plus side, my parents were along on the holiday, and they are astounded with the change in me. The river is traditionally a place for me to go wild, it is a wonderful place to drink, beer adverts would be filmed there if the commercial world knew about it, and there I was, completely sober the whole time.

I managed to do a whole lot of thinking about baclofen and its place in my life, and none of it helped me at all. I still have no clue what's going on. I'm glad it's here helping me, that's about as far as I got. Introspection has never been a strong point with me.

Welcome back bleep, missed you!! Glad you had a good trip, and enjoyed it sober!

Introspection is kind of a pesky thing, isn't it? LOL I'm sure you will figure things out, you have done a great job so far.

                :welcome: back!!

I imagine it was a totally different experience sober.

It is going to take time to learn how to live life without alcohol.

                Love,

                    Thanks gang!

You're right Cindi, it's a different life out there without booze. I sort of knew that, but going to a haunt that was particularly booze-filled and not drinking was a strange experience. Not unpleasant though, I managed to have a good time without trying, so all's good there.

Bruun, I eat enough garlic to drop the average man at 50 paces. anymore would be decidedly unsociable!

Now I'm going to try wade through all the threads... I hope you are all well!

yeah, yeah, yeah. Glad you were sober. whateva.

What I REALLY want to know is whether or not you saw any lions or elephants outside of cages. You know, the ones that don't look all pathetic and miserable. (yet they'll most likely die earlier and according to National Geographic, in horrible ways all due to us... )

Anyway, were any of them named Elsa?

(Kidding, of course, about the first part. I sort of wish my own family could mark the difference. But since they had NO idea I was drinking, they have no baseline.
Good on you, bleep. I'm sure they were blown away. I know I am, just from knowing you for a few months. The before and after pictures are pretty profound.

The tournament winning tigerfish at 13lbs. Because it's winter, the fish are smaller. In summer, this guy would be a respectable 18lbs.

This was taken from the back of my tent. He was about 20 metres away.

The aforementioned tent. Wonderful protection against beasts. Chalets are going to be built soon. We were about to start building, when the camp was flooded because they opened the gates of Kariba Dam upstream. The water was waist deep around the the tent.

These chaps were seen from the boat. Unfortunately no lions this time round, although we heard them on a couple of nights.

Unfortunately, this is not the camp manager. She actually has nothing to do with the holiday, I just wanted to save this post from being incredibly dull. It's hard to escape from the mentality of showing people holiday snaps = very boring thing to do.

Strewth, not sure why the pictures are so big, nor do I know how to edit them. Anyone?

Check out the baby ele in the last picture, under the legs of the one on the far right. He can't be much more than a few months old.
