This is very very interesting. In that ad I see them putting it under their lips. What then? Do you just take it out when you have had enough or does it melt by itself?

Chi I have patches inhalers etc but not good enough for me Im afraid. I was reading about murphys snuss and wondering how the two would combine. I have a couple of friends who quit with the ecigs, but it just didn't do it for me.
In theory they really should be the ideal way of quitting: you get a lung full of nicotine, you have something to do with your hands and it so totally mimics real smoking. And I really like the idea of just pulling one of those out in a restaurant or on a train, just to see the reaction from others. But it just didn't cut it for me. Dunno why.

CF, you could combine the two. Use the snus as your main nicotine deliverer and teh ecig when you want the fag in the hand thing. You'd just have to be aware of your total nicotine intake.

Patches are good.I stayed off the ciggies a month on them but they were just missing that je ne sais quoi. I read somewhere that the full amount of nicotine doesnt get through. Eventually I got drunk one night and just threw it away and bought the real ones.Maybe if I had been sober I might have tried harder. Dunno.I am a sobriety tart. It could be the throat burn. Somehow it's oddly addicting. I found that out while smoking pot. I tried the vaporizer method for "healthy smoking" and it didn't last because I missed the throat burn.
I compromised and stayed with a high quality bong.

Yes I think thats it. The tornado was advertised as having a good throat burn and it wasnt bad but...I dunno. It was probably really down to my drinking that it didnt work. At what point during a blackout do you think oops I musnt smoke! Anyway Im sober now and with murphys snus thrown in I will give it another go. Im going to order it on Tuesday when I am solvent. Ok murphy you can have your thread back. Thanks.I am a sobriety tart. AA/Smart/RR philosophy, meds/diet/exercise/prayer,rabbbits feet/four leaf clovers/horseshoes. Hi Murphy,
I gave up smoking accidentally about 5 years ago. My non-smoking girlfriend (now wife) had to attend a "quit smoking in 5 hours" seminar for some convoluted, work related reason and she dragged me along for a laugh.
I was rolling my own - I guess 40-50 times a day. Whenever I'd go to a pub I'd buy a proper pack and I'd be lucky if there was a single ciggy left the following morning. I'd read Allan Carr's book and my reaction was the same as yours. Useless. (He published the same bloody book as "Allan Carr's Easy Way to control Alcohol" - all he'd done, far as I could see, was do a Find/Replace, swapping the word "Nicotine" for "Alcohol"... )
So, I went to this seminar without having had to pay for it, and without the slightest shadow of doubt that it would be a load of bollocks...
Well the next day I gave up for good, so something happened. But the main thing the dude doing this seminar said, and I of course agree with him, is that the only way to stop being addicted to nicotine is to stop taking nicotine. All these patches are just crap - just another way of giving yourself nicotine. I'm afraid your snus idea sounds like the same thing. You may purchase fewer cigarettes, for now, but you are still feeding your nicotine addiction.
The only way, with smokes, is cold turkey. It's a completely different addiction to alcohol - once your body has forgotten about nicotine, it's done and dusted. I've never been at all tempted in the past 5 years to renew my subscription to Philip Morris. Alcohol, on the other hand, is real bitch to shake. The urge never goes away, as far as I can tell. Enter Baclofen...

Hi Bleep, there is of course one big advantage to Snus vs Camel filters - Snus are less likely to give you lung cancer. So if your lungs are f-cked or they look like they might be heading that way it might not be such a daft thing to switch.

Was the seminar you went to an Alan Carr thing? The one I went to was absolute shit. The drone running it was clueless and when he tried to hypnotise us he failed miserably. I knew some of the other people there and it had no effect on them either. That's 100 quid and a day of my life I'll never get back. Sounds like the person running yours was a bit better at his job.
