Murph’s Baclofen (or should that be BacloFUN) diary

Update on the diet. I just had a huge piss and weighed myself. I now only weigh 19 stone 9 lb. I just lost 4 pounds!!! I had no idea urine was so full of calories. I'm going to drink loads of coca cola and piss as much as I can. That way I'll reach my target weight even sooner than I expected.

    Happy days!

When you've spat out the last of your teeth that'll be a few grams as well... Kokey Kola is clearly the way to go...

Lady Lush, try reading "Catch 22" on a crowded subway train, preferably with a rotten cold so that every time you try to stifle a snigger a wad of snot ejaculates from one of your nostrils. (Just a suggestion if you don't have anything lined up for the summer hols.)

        Hell Pony,
Forget the book, I'll take my lap top and read this thread!

Since we are on the same page as far as humour goes I have to say if you remove the chain and padlock it might be a few ounces for you!
But - then again, it might be there to keep your head from falling off (or that guys).:H

        All in jest..

yeah, murph. anything i say after loOp will sound nice, so i'll go ahead and pour on my pennies: protein drinks are usually garbage. eat the real thing, man! (dr mercola has a whole thing on soy, sally fallon has a whole thing on protein powder.) dried fruit, ditto what loOp said. (btw, LoOp, you might be flattered (should) that i bother to capitalize that second 'O' - though i bet you don't care. guess i like you okay.) good luck anyway, whatever you decide. i think exercise might help. fuckin fifty five pounds is nothin'!

Add to that a bran muffin and 2 cups of strong coffee and even more hilarity ensues as discharges occur from both ends.

Rudy, thanks for reminding me, I am also increasing my level of exercise.

Also, my diet includes, in addition to vegetables, dried fruit and mycoprotein (not soya Rudy):
nuts, lentils, chickpeas and some dairy - man cannot live without cheese. It's the only reason I am no longer vegan and a source of eternal guilt, but bollocks, I'll murder those little calves myself if it's the only way I can get camembert.

p.s. can someone tell me wtf protein drinks have got to do with anything?

Hey Murph, I've been vegan since the 90's. I've always had a problem keeping the pounds off and find the *only* way for me to stay lean(er) is to cut out the starchy carbs. No pasta, bread, rice, etc. I eat lots of tofu, tempeh (soy) and homemade seitan (gluten/wheat meat), beans, nuts, and mushrooms plus all of the other vegetables I want. I agree that dried fruit is basically candy, and would recommend no fruit other than tomatoes and avocados until you get your weight under control. I know that lo0p won't believe me, but I can do a vegan ketogenic (atkin's) diet that will let me lose .5 to 1lb of fat per day. I gained 40 lbs during my titration due the baclofen side effect that made me still hungry even after stuffing my face (l-glutamine was not a help for me). I've lost about 35lbs since my switch and have had luck keeping it off by leaving out the carbs. It's the carbs that make me fat, not the olive/canola/flax/avocado/macadamia oil that I put liberally on everything else -tk

p.s. I eat a lot of soy and it's never been a problem for me, almost 20 years of tofu (I was vegetarian before vegan) and there's no bitch tits on me.

And there's also a vegan cheese that melts and tastes pretty goddamned close to the real thing. It must be forged by Lucifer himself it is so unholy fucking good. And I don't care what any of you have to say about it.

                      Murph,

Thanks for caring; claustrophobia could be a side effect I have yet to encounter!:H

Good luck with the diet Murph. I can't comment as to it's effectiveness or lack thereof - I have been on one diet in my life, and it lasted a day. I quickly realised that my lack of willpower that drinking had made so evident applies across the board, and I am unable to be hungry without eating. Just can't be done.

The answer for me is to increase my energy output then, so I've decided on Monday to go to gym for the first time in my life. I've always thought they looked terrible places, but it's that or get fat, it seems.

I was reading this thread in snippets from my phone yesterday. I couldn't really concentrate, but was unwilling to miss a single thing, so I kept checking in. (omg, smartphones. Don't get me started. anyway...)

Last night I went bac a couple of pages and here's what I found:

Murphyx;1116658 wrote: Ne tells me I should be sharing everything and not keeping anything to myself. I think she's trying to turn me into an American or worse, a woman(is that worse? I'm not sure).:H
You are perhaps the single funniest person I've come across Murph. but hmmmm. There's another thing. Your bac ride. I went bac to the beginning of your thread and LOL. You had me at hello, for real.

Actually, you had me at the first rant... about driving drunk. (speaking of which, please tell me that's really your car? You're worried about ME turning you into a candy-ass girly-boy and you drive a VW with flowers on it??? You better be a big, bald, welshman with a swagger. I'm so incredibly thrilled at the idea, I can't even explain it. Maybe beat up old VWs do for me what tiny little hot rods do for other chicks? Tell me it runs on bio-fuel. omg. Do I digress?)

SO. What's the story, funny boy? No introspection needed, ftr. Posterity awaits, however. (trust me when I tell you that there is no hope that you will ever be a woman, or an American. We have rules (both categories) about that stuff that keep the riff raff out. do you know what men have to go through to become a woman? Even if they were born female in a man's body? sheesh. You'd think that just lopping something off would be a simple cut and snip, wouldn't you? I mean your dogs lived through it. Am I digressing?)
                          :l
                          Ne
Same goes for you Terry. It's not ME that needs your story. It's US. Your story, in part, got me to the endgame. Let's have it. Please?

Also, wtf, people? Am I the only meat-eating semi-normal person around here??? And if I eat tofu will my boobs start getting bigger rather than smaller???

I don't think it's just Loop that has a hard time believing it. I know you wrote this somewhere else, maybe my thread. I didn't know if you knew what ketogenic meant, as I've never heard of a vegetarian diet, being able to induce ketosis. Of course, I know, you usually know what you are talking about, so I was rather intrigued. I'm glad you brought it up again, because I still am. I mean do you measure if you are in via ketone sticks? How do you know? Do you mean ketosis in the fat burning sense, or the metabolic pathway change? How in the world can you induce ketosis with a diet based on veggies and alternative meat products? Is that what it is, fake meat made from gluten? I can't tolerate gluten. I mean not large amounts. I'm fascinated, because I hate what the meat industry does in this country. I have no issues with killing animals for food, but I prefer to eat animals who have lived in their natural state. You know, free range and happy animals. It is difficult and very expensive. I've been thinking lately, if I can't do what I feel is right, I will either have to modify my diet, and eat only as much meat as I can afford, or even not at all. I don't think I have any interest in being vegan, but thanks for the cheese suggestion. I miss my cheese. I'm avoiding many forms of dairy at the moment (except kefir and greek yogurt), so I'll try this suggestion. If I can find it. I wonder if Trader Joes has it? I'm sure Whole Foods would, but that is a bit of a drive for me.

I am interested in the veggie lifestyle (or strongly veggie), but don't like how many carbs most people eat on it. I'm prone to insulin resistance. I don't want to hijack Murph's thread, but I am really interested to hear more.

Speaking of insulin resistance Murphy. This is what your diet sounds like it might contribute to, or at the least, certainly not cure. You may lose weight, from caloric restriction, but you probably won't lose much belly fat. Aka dicky do. You also won't change your blood chemistries, to ones that avoid heart disease and type 2 diabetes. Lay off the high glycemic dried fruits and other stuff (imo). Protein drinks if made by you, with whey protein, are an excellent way to help combat insulin resistance and or metabolic syndrome. Whey protein is made from dairy, so I don't know if you are a vegan, or just a veggie. It is tolerated by most who don't tolerate dairy, though. Just some thoughts my friend.

Tofu Pups (vegan hot dogs), certain brands of Tofu, some fake meats, and Soy Protein isolate (0g carbs) for the induction phase is easy to do with plenty of food well under 20g of carbs per day. After that I add an occasional avocado, a tiny salad once in a while, and veganaise. I use ketostix and definitely get a high ketone reading. My breath and sweat stink (my girlfriend reminds me often). This is fat-burning ketosis, not ketoacidosis. I'm not a diabetic (and alcohol is no longer involved). I could go in to the details at length if you're interested (like how your brain can only use 3 fuels: glucose or ketones or *alcohol* and other fun stuff).

Nowadays, for me, veganism and my diet isn't about what I eat (or what anyone else eats for that matter). Its about not supporting the cruelty endemic in today's factory farms and the enormous toll the western world's meat-centric diet exacts on the environment and the world's ability to feed itself at. Don't torture animals and don't take up all of the world's water and land resources to raise those animals and I don't care what you eat.

Whole Foods definitely has it, I'm pretty sure that Trader Joe's does not. I think you can mail order it from that site in the link. In the past, most vegan cheese has been terrible. This one involves sorcery, witchcraft, and pure evil goodness. I hear Iron Maiden's "Number of the Beast" in my head whenever I eat it, it is so good. But it is not low carb (like real cheese) oddly enough. It contains tapioca. Still awesome (and not high carb).
