Murph. I'll have to refrain from commenting on the Senegalese man. Suffice it to say I feel badly for him.

Not half as bad as he did when I sent the video to his family.

I am one of the "lurkers" you folks have talked about. I have read every post on this thread and have been so inspired by all of you. I am up to 150 mg/ day on the Bac but it makes me feel awful. Buzzing in my ears, unsteadiness on my feet. I'm still drinking wine and I'm wondering if that is making the side effects worse. Any thoughts?

Hi Curlygirl. I feel that you may be both female and have curly hair. I know, I know, it's totally uncanny but I just have a gift for that sort of thing. I think I'm a little bit psychic.

Buzzing in the ears and unsteadiness on your feet are both very normal SEs that lots of people get. But that doesn't help you deal with them I know. The the perceived wisdom (received wisdom?) and usual solution to these sorts of SEs is to increase the dose and hey presto, the SEs disappear. But of course over 150 you get other SEs, like the one where women orgasm whenever they look a man in the eye, which can be soooo embarrassing some times, for instance when paying for your gummy bears at 7 eleven or receiving communion in Mass. But that's followed by the screaming profanities and peeing yourself in front of police officers side effect, which in some ways is even worse.

I'd like to know what your titration schedule has been so far. How long have you been taking baclofen? How long have you been on this dose? And how much do you increase by when you go up?

And yes, the drinking doesn't help, but it always pisses me off when people suggest you try not drinking for a while to help ease an SE. If it was that fecking easy to just stop drinking we wouldn't need the fecking baclofen, now would we?

              Oh and btw :welcome:

yep, curly girl, murph is right, they're pretty common se's. i'm at 130 and having the same ones big time, just since 110 - 130 mgs. you should see the bruises on my arms! who put those door locks there, those hard metal things i keep bumping into?

but i think murph is wrong (for the first time!): it DOES help to know that you're not alone in these se's. posting and reading here has been tremendously HELPFUL for me, so keep doing that!

                and, welcome (insert cute emoticon).

Thank-you for your replies. Murph you are a scream! I may have titrated up too quickly. I started in late April and probably should have gone up 10 mg at a time as Dr. A recommends. I'm just so anxious to get there! I'm also worried because I've gained about 8 pounds since April. Should I back down to 125 mg for a while? I also hate feeling stoned all the time (this coming from someone who loves being drunk!) Thanks to all of you for being so funny and wonderful! This thread is terrific.

instinct, and only a few months of experience, tell me that you should stick where you are if you can stand the se's. i can't say a thing about the weight gain, other than look at all factors in your life: are you eating more sugar from lack of or less al? are you exercising less? ...i have the obvious things to offer.

i've been feeling -and looking- terribly stoned, too. fortunately i have tenure at my job, so they can't fire me for that (and they like me, so they wouldn't). i think i'm retaining water, and that may have something to do with my swollen injured hand that has been discussed (here, i think). i'm thinking you might be best staying the course if you can stand to, as the se's will change if not go away, and there are consequences of going down, so i read from veterans here.

                    keep us posted, curlygirl.

oh yeah, buzzing in my ears, definitely. alcohol and bac = worse se's, seems to be concensus.

aww, curly, i guess you have some catching up to do on the murph thread, or re-reading, or maybe it wasn't actually discussed here on the home thread for bollocks. i'd try to reinterpret and paraphrase all that brilliant clarification on the meaning of the word, but i'm sure mine would pale in comparison to the job mr murphy himself could do, so i'll turn it over to his truly...

murphy, dear, do you know what smegma is?

Oh wow, I unfortunately do know what smegma is.. and here I was all a-drool at the thought of your organic kale sauteed with salty greasy onions. I think chicken grease is just called chicken fat. Or maybe lard? But I think lard is just animal fat in general.

Switched at 180mgs of Baclofen on 1/31/11, and again on 10/8/11 at 200mgs.

Has anyone watched Dr. Phillip Thomas Baclofen segments on YouTube? In one of them he says you should chew bac and then hold it under your tongue, but he doesn't say why. I wonder if that improves absorbtion. Does anyone know?
