I had to wonder where I was coming from with this post: I've had plenty of sober sex. I was married and living with my spouse for nearly a decade. It wasn't until the end of the marriage that I was drinking all the time. I even wondered if I was drinking when I posted this. Considering it was before I was on bac. It was only 1pm, so I truly hope not, but then again, I went on bac for a reason.

Where I think I was coming from after some thought is, the first sex thing. Even with my spouse I think the first night we had sex we had gone out 'clubbing'. We were both a little sauced. That's what people did in their 20s. Or what we did anyway.

I still don't have much experience (I don't plan on ever acquiring too much )with the meeting someone and 'sober sex'. I did have a brief romance in the summer (long story on why I had to make it brief), and while I wasn't switched, I really wasn't drinking much. I certainly didn't get drunk around him. My take on it is, there's nothing to be scared of. If you are too scared, it's a sign that either the timing is off, or it's not the right guy. That's the beauty of being sober. Your brain and intuition will still be operating (maybe ), and you can make good choices.

I guess when you are truly tired of taking it all in your own hands (pun intended) then you won't have much to be scared of.

And to the rest of it. It looks like I said I'd chime in when I had some experience with bac and sexual SEs. I already stated I don't have a ton with a partner. :H What I did find is climax can be more difficult to acheive on various doses for me. Whether by myself or with a partner. It's not always the case, however. The most interesting thing I noticed, or maybe the most dangerous is my attraction to men changed with the very high doses. I found myself attracted to and interested in men that I wouldn't normally have been. If any of you were around for the CL guy for example. I could have gotten myself into a lot of trouble with that. When I went up to 240 for my switch, the same thing kind of happened again. It was nothing I acted on, but I just start thinking differently. It's like a chemical alteration, or maybe it's who I really am, and really HDB (for me) brings it out. :H I don't think so though. I'm already thinking more normally since I'm down to 210.

Hello - sorry to revive an old thread but perhaps i'll get more responses here than in the intro thread where i've posted.

I'm new to baclofen and am having troubling side effects!!! I haven't been on baclofen for a terribly long time (four months total, although one month at my current dose), although it's curbed my cravings to a significant extent and I'm hesitant to up my dosage from where I am now (60mg/day split between three doses of 20mg every eight hours) because I'm suffering some massive anorgasmia as well as loss of libido although I might certainly have to go up in dosage. Sexual functioning was enhanced for a day or two while titrating up, but I have been left with a whole lot of nothing.

As AL controlled the symptoms of an underlying anxiety disorder, baclofen at this dose is also controlling the anxiety and so I can't go down as this dose seems to serve as both a maintenance dose and as a dose that acts as an anxiolytic adequately enough.

Anyhow, to those who have suffered from sexual dysfunction, and I know there are a great many, does the anorgasmia or the loss of libido subside? Or are they permanent (as long as one is on the drug). I'm young - 28 and I can't emotionally handle sexuality taken away from me. Of course the erectile dysfunction drugs do nothing for anorgasmia nor lack of libido, so those aren't options.

Also, important/relevant information, I'm 130lbs, so the relatively low dose of 60mg/day may be a bit higher for me in terms of the mg/kg ratio.

In summation, have any members who have had sexual problems at a fixed dose had them subside? Is this a temporary side effect or a permanent one while on the drug? I hope it's not a permanent one whilst on the drug a la SSRI status.

Hi, Cat. Welcome.

My husband had some short-lived negative sexual SEs when he was titrating up. He also had the opposite effect at various levels. That was fun. I had it, too. As do many women. Things have long since returned to normal, and all systems work just fine. Which is much less of a distraction, thank goodness.

I don't know anything about anything related to this, (for men) but I only know of one person that had any negative effects for any length of time. Did you check out Bminor's thread? I am also going to suggest that perhaps, like many of the bac SEs, it boils down to a mind-game. They come, they go (the SEs, I mean) and how long they stick around and in what way can be a matter of how much anxiety revolves around the issue. That was my experience, anyway.

I would reiterate what Redthread pointed out on the other thread: It may resolve if you go up, too. I am not suggesting you do that if you have found a comfortable place and bac is doing what it is supposed to do. On the other hand, if you can't live with it, and you can't go down without jeopardizing sobriety and sanity, then up a tiny bit may help.

Yup, it may go away. I well I can go for a long time. I just don't always finish. It's still fun like going to the arcade.

Earlier I just had a tough time living up.

There's always the little blue pill. Problem with that is I turn into a John Holmes and well it's just dangerous for parties involved.

I'm late to this party and can't read 10 pages. Very increased libido. Increased exercise capacity too. Thought there might be increased testosterone involved. Got blooded tested. Was slightly above the normal range. Prior to baclofen was right in the middle. It is VERY welcome. Delayed ejaculation also occurs for me. This may or may not be a problem.

I had become quite concerned these last 10 days or so regarding the "Finish". No problems getting started and staying that way for 25+ minutes. I just started giving up and blaming depression/brain change -possible prostrate problems. Never had this problem before (except when extra-wasted). How long does this SE last or is it something that I am going to have to live with? (I did have luck 1 out 7 different attempts, but it was not near what it use to be). Thanks for any advice.

It's an SE. I wish I had kept a better journal and could give you more exact info, but it goes away, at least it did for me.
