    I've been reading a few other pats not on this thread and thought I would add a comment here on this thread...and hope someone else will comment so that my name will stop showing up as the last commenter -lol. My other post was:

    And Bleep, one last comment, I'm finally reaching a point that I can mentally spend time reading other member threads, so I apologize if you have already commented on my questions in other posts.

    Also, regarding the "oh-hell-no-this can't be-happening" side effect, which is still happening with me -the NOT FINISHING SE. After finally convincing my wife that it was not her fault and no way mine, I dived into more research. The formal name is "Delayed Ejactulation" This occurs in approximate 8 percent of men. I've been accused of secretly taking Viagra, no kidding, so there is no problem in that area. This delayed situation, in my opinion, is a direct result of Baclofen and "I've read" in Wikipedia, there are several methods one and his partner can try to resolve this damning situation. I'm just not ready to stop BAC-ing and or drinking to get there -maybe Wiki has some good ideas. I will repost this on sex SE thread.

      I am also dealing with this. I'm at ~150 mg @ 190 lbs weight currently. Increased libido, but increased difficulty reaching orgasm. Was not an issue at low doses, but at about the 100 mg mark began to be problematic. I haven't had an instance where it didn't happen at all yet, but it does take twice as much time/effort as it used to.

      One thing I've noticed is that counter-intuitively, I have an easier time if I've just taken a dose, compared to if I'm planning to take my next dose shortly afterward. So for me, at least at this point, this SE is worst when the level of baclofen in my system is lowest, and seems to be less severe when the level is highest. Anyone care to do an experiment and see if this is the case for them as well?

        Oh yeah, the bac-induced retarded ejaculation. Man, it's a bitch!:upset: Although not as bad for me as the complete anejaculation I get whenever I take an SSRI (along with chronic squits but that's another story).

        Basically what's happening is a decrease in Dopamine. Dopamine and Serotonin are competitive neurotransmitters, when one is low the other tries to take over and when one is artificially increased then teh other is shoved down low. So, when I take an SSRI, dopamine is lowered dramatically. The problem is Dopamine is needed to complete the act of sexual gratification. When we take Baclofen it's even worse because we get (sometimes and at some levels) an increase in Oxytocin - the Love Hormone!!! :blinkylove: So we're all up for making some sweet, sweet lurrrve but Baclofen also reduces Dopamine, so we want it, we do it .........and do it and do it and do it and eventually, if we're lucky, we get there in the end.

        Bad news: I've been on Baclofen for over two years and it still retards my ejaculations to a certain extent.

        Good news: If you drop down a couple of levels you will probably find the problem reduces greatly. At least it does in my case.

          Interested to know where you got this information.
          Started Baclofen 3/9/10 Hit my switch at 250mg on 21/11/10 Present maintenance dose of 50mg : started drinking after 1 year, upped dose to 80mg and stopped: Tapered to 30mg, started 6 months of drinking, upped dose to 240mg to stop 12/7/12

            Is there anything that can be done to increase dopamine, other than reducing baclofen?

                Yep, loads of things. Buproprion (Wellbutrin, Zyban) is an AD that inhibits the reuptake of dopamine. If you want to go a more natural route (and I know you would Bleep, now that you're a full-on hippie) then try the aminos Phenylalanine or Tyrosine, both of which are precursors for Dopamine. Personally, Tyrosine just makes me tired (rather perversely) so I take Phenylalanine in the form of DLPA and it certainly increases my dopamine levels. It doesn't increase them to such a level that I don't still have some bac-induced delay, but the problem certainly isn't as bad as it might otherwise be.

                        Phenylalanine contains the text:-

                        "Baclofen -- Phenylalanine may reduce absorption of baclofen (Lioresal), a medication used to relieve muscle spasms. Avoid taking Baclofen with a meal, especially one that is high in protein, or with phenylalanine supplements."

                            From what I can tell on the net, there was 1 rat study that suggested Phenylalanine may reduce the absorption of Baclofen. All the hits warning of the interaction are based on this one study. I can only speak for myself and it hasn't altered the way Baclofen works for me.

                            Perhaps some sciencey type might like to look at the study and see what the levels involved were.

                              A major drawback of baclofen is that it is only absorbed in a very small section of your small intestine.

                              Although I've been taking it for years and never noticed an interaction with food.

                                From my experience this is very true. I have also used tyrosine (1mg) with b3 and it seems to help. At first I got a big boost within 20-30 minutes. Now, it is less noticeable but it still a good combo. I take up to 2-3mg of tyrosine a day. I highly recommend it as an option.

                                I am really hoping that the dopamine comes back as I look find the lowest Bac dose while still keeping the cavings at bay.

                                Also, sexual problems are not just a man's issue although as a woman I can get away with it. Still I would like to get back to normal in that department as well.
