That's great news, LadyL. You're doing very well on bac, so far, right? Pardon me in advance if I'm confusing your experience with someone else, but I think it was you....

Way to go Bruuun! Keep up the good stuff :goodjob:
Indifference is in your future with Baclofen. It works!

My frustration with Baclofen, which is shared by Dr. Oliver Ameisen, is that because Baclofen is an off patent medication there is no profit motive for drug companies to support clinical trials that would demonstrate its efficacy in treating addiction.

Can you all tell me, will the bac help me detox (handle any issues) if I am able to stay AF? I've never gone more than 4 days so I'm wondering if there's a detox thing that happens about day 5. And I do have the xanax if that would help, I'm accustomed to taking 1/2 mg/night but more sometimes. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
I'm pretty sure bac handles AL withdrawal issues. Don't have time to go searching around for the info., but I think it's in OA's book, and other places around the forum here as well.

Is, thanks for the info, do you take the DE daily? If so, what does it do for you again? Sorry, very foggy here in my mind...
I take a Tbsp. in the morning. Recommended usage is 1-2 Tbsp. per day. I take it mainly for the BP help, but it's supposed to perform a whole host of other fantastic things. Here's the link to the benefits page on the site that I order from: Human Use of Diatomaceous Earth

          Thanks Help and Is,

Keeping it chamomile, having drinking thoughts and some cravings tonight, I must be healing up.

Is, by the way, I never expect anything but *off the top of your head/what you remember* type of input, when I ask for info. I don't want you or anyone spending tons of time (although many have already) researching these details, and I appreciate exactly what you said. Thanks for the DE link, that's another thing I should be doing for myself. Tomorrow I better be feeling like doing research and stuff, because back to work regardless.

I would never have thought DE was somehow good for you... will google asap. Good evening all, sweet dreams and thanks.

            Update for my records

Did not drink last night, marked my calendar that my first AF day was the 19th and today is the 22nd. This is how long I've lasted in the past, four days and tonight would be a slip up that sends me down the drain. Note I've only accomplished four AF days twice in the last fifteen years.

My plan: 1. to NOT buy beer for "just in case I want ONE" because that's where I start diving. One beer leads to two and then back to the cycle.
            2. I'm armed with massive amounts of L-glut, 3. I'm now able to eat so I'm making sure I do, and 4. I have a chest cold which makes it a tad easier to not drink since drinking makes it so much worse when I cough. 5. I have a small PRN dose of bac at the witching hour each night. 6. I have chocolate eggs!!!!!!

I do have wine though. I've been finding it cloying of late, probably because I don't buy nice wine, just bearable wine, so it's not like I'm missing anything and if it helps me not drink, great.

If I can keep AF this week (a miracle), next Tuesday will be a big test. Staff meeting and my boss is a hard core partier. I've been right up there with him (once I realized he liked that instead of judging me for it).

I have to GET to that place, a week from today, to have that problem. Really hope to have that problem! (worried about posting this!)

Note, lost five pounds in the last four days, half my bac weight is now gone. Looking forward to more of the same.

Good luck on this evening. If this is the night that is your big barrier, why not get out of the house where there is no AL, like maybe a movie. Then go out after for a coffee or tea. Come back late enough that you can just go to bed!x

It's just that it was something that I was 99.9% sure that I KNEW and could comment on, but being that it was a really important question (about the bac and AL withdrawal), I didn't want to sound definitive if I wasn't absolutely sure. So I was really just covering my bac-confused butt! :H

Good idea Prancy, I used to do that all the time in my twenties and thirties. I guess nesting set in at some point and going out every night got to be so difficult. But to get past tonight, great idea.

Is, funny you, thanks for all your input!

Should I change the name of this thread?

Anyways, just wondering, since I'm no longer doing that.

Off bac until I get over this cold, so I can take cold meds (contain tylenol). The cold meds I have to be very careful with, my BP shoots up on them so I can only take 1/4 the normal dose. But I couldn't get to work without it!

So my BP is high today, 150/94, from taking the cold meds and stupid me, a caffeine pill because I've been so tired for so long, I decided I needed a boost (I don't drink coffee). So the combo of the caffeine and the cold stuff is messing with me and my face is red, I feel jittery, ug. Tired and jittery, a worthless combo.

Pills, pills, pills. It's my life!

Withdrawls have definitely already appeared by day 4, not heard of anyone having problems apart from sleep issues come day 5. I also have a suspicion Baclofen can increase water retention especially in combination with alcohol and salty/junk foods. I know this usually occurs with all these elements anyway, but my experience is that is aggravates the problem. I usually loose around 5lbs after stopping either Bac or drinking whilst on Bac. I do usually get rebound water retention after drinking, but I really find it is massively worse around Baclofen.

You can't change the name of the thread. It's there for ever and ever and ever more. Embrace it, it's funny and I like it. And it doesn't matter where you are on the ride, in line, at the gate, racing into the depths at 100mph or chugging up to the pinnacle.
Only thing is, that at the station at the end, there are a bunch of us just standing around waiting for the next group to get off!
Even though they're often shaky and sweaty and at a complete loss. We were, too. Still am.

Hi UKB, I'm not eating junk food except for the chocolate easter eggs that appear around my house somehow, this time of year. I think I'm over most of the AL affects and feeling better with the chest cold. I have a super nasty therapy I use including the neti pot, neosporin in the nasal cavities daily, benedryl and nose spray so I can breathe at night. I slept an ENTIRE NIGHT last night for the first time in memory. Only at 10mg bac.

DE is good for you in many ways. Diatomaceous Earth (food grade): Bug Killer You Can Eat! It's esp good if you have beatles or worms inside you. Actually, colon cleansing, parasite control and detox.
