    Bruun's Titting UP

Bruun, I'm a little late here , but might still be able to help.

Cleaning - put a book on your iPod and listen to it while you clean. Sometimes I listen to significant stuff, i.e, "The Brain That Changes Itself," by Norman Doige. Highly recommended and inspirational about the scientific understanding that we actually DO grown new brain cells all the time and how to go about growing the one's we want; and sometimes mindless who-done-its.

Ritalin - PM me if you're still looking for a very reliable source for a very good product.

      Great idea Red, thanks.

Bruun, I forgot to mention what I found out regarding tyrosine when I did some research the other day. Supposedly it is used for energy, concentration, mood support, anxiety, depression and (wait for it.... ) ADHD. I definitely find it helpful, though I'm not sure how it would compare to something like Ritalin. But I have found it to help my mood and my concentration, along with giving me a little bit of pep. I've started taking 500 mgs in the morning and early afternoon.
        Better Living Through Chemistry

Switched at 180mgs of Baclofen on 1/31/11, and again on 10/8/11 at 200mgs.

Thank you! I think I"ll start the mornings with chromium, tyrosine and coconut oil - see how that works.

Are you taking Friday off? I know you work for a FI like me and so you have to take a vacation day, right? Also, I was able to get those songs from 7 years ago finally, on my new mp3. I got the 8gig one that clips on to your tshirt. Now I need more music ... and an audio book, to Red's point. Do you buy audiobooks that play on mp3 players online, and where, Amazon? I usually love to read instead of listen, but I'm willing to try. I used audiobooks when I lived in LA in the 90's and commuted an eternity to work. The Hunchback of Notre Dame, at 7am, hmmmm.

I had a bad timne earlier on today, I posted on my own thread and cant be arsed repeating myself but I honsetly thought I was loosing the plot. My shopping habit has been stopped for the past 2 days due to being skint, and I had intended to go out tonight to a drama class for the first time but I was in such a tizzy I had to cancel. I recieved a bottle of Resveratrol in the post this morning, I cant remember ordering it but I did and have no idea what its for, did any of you suggest it to me? Its a supp not a med. I am going to get my mum a kindle for christmas and was thinking of getting one for myself but now am wondering if getting an mp3 player would be better, is there a good range of audio books availavble, it may help with calming my brain when it wont stop going.

Hi Bruun and friends! Wow this is a supplement savvy crown for sure! Is - it is never boring to hear aobut your health and sanity related adventures! I'm following right along behind you!

              Space - what is
              weetabix
. Sounds more like a bug than something to.....drink? I'm sorry you had a rough day!!!!! This early sober time is going to have a lot of ups and downs. Please remember that is normal as you adjust to bac and to life without AL, etc. etc. Be very kind to yourself, OK? :l Drama class sounds interesting. Will you be acting? Will you go next week?

Red - is an mp3 easier than those little apple devices? I find iTunes to be a bit of a pain.

Bruun, my big recent technology breakthrough was getting Pandora to work on my iPhone. Much easier to let them figure out the playlists than me trying to do it.

Well, a LOOOONG day of school (and Kohl's :devil. Bought some fat sweaters to cover my expanding behind. I'm getting tired of that and am on the verge of getting serious about getting rid of this weight I've gained. Tomorrow. I'm sure tomorrow I will feel like it! (:H)

              Anyway.....always good to see everyone!

Bruun, Is, Doggy, wholly shitake mushrooms. There's is no way I can keep up with your supplement recs. I know there is a supps thread, but you are the masters.

When I first poured the threads and read about coconut oil I was thinking pool girls. Then I googled it as a health supplement and was ashamed at my shallowness (well, not really.., ).

So, as a blank slate, give me your top 3.

                  Bruun's Titting UP

Cleaned out the pantry today in order to fit in all the things I bought but don't need for Thanksgiving. (Does anyone remember when I cleaned it all out and made it shiny and spiffy? And super organized? Yeah. Well... And anyway. I know this ain't about my pantry. ANYWAY.) So, lo and behold. A jar of EV Coconut Oil. So now I have two. I didn't know what to do with the first one, and haven't tried the second. hmmm.
I really don't want to put it in my 1/2 cup of coffee, or my tea. I started to do that this morning and realized I don't like coconut. oy. Such dilemmas.

Hi, all! Still a nice place to visit, 'round here after a long-ish day. :l

Grom, you just asked for a whole kettle of fish. I say Omega 3s. And a whole B. But I know nothing about any of this. In fact, I take those because Bruun told me to more than a year ago.

Hope you feel better Is! I always hated when I couldn't enjoy a good sick day. I really
hated it when I was actually sick. But usually the kind of sick I was wore off around noon, after a long nap and some food. Then just a couple of hours until I could start with the makin' myself sick again.

DG, it must be almost over for you, too! I don't know if I'm getting the hang of it, or if they throw us a bone at the end of the semester, but it's going a bit more smoothly for me. Hope it is for you. (2 exams next week, tho. I'll be eating those words.)

'Night (or morning. or whatever!) folks.

I missed a whole bunch. Sorry. Hiya, Space. Sorry it's tough. My mp3 player got me through. I was absolutely attached to it during my journey. I realized a couple of months in that every song I listened to was a heart breaker, or angry, or pathetic. And then I started from scratch with song recommendations from Isolde and others! Nice! I still rock to them and it takes me to good places. I highly recommend it!

Did anyone see the alert from Consumer Labs about L-tryp? I don't have a membership, but someone got sick again?
I'm not sure I can stomach another pill, but Tyrosine sounds interesting. I'll try the CO first.

I also love the books on tape, Bruun. (or whatever.) But I never finish them. Ever. Still, it's nice to have a story told, and sitting and reading is just different. And sometimes too hard to do. (You can put the free story shows on your mp3--The Moth; This American Life; Wait, wait... I have a couple others, too. I put a couple hours of back shows on and spend the day in public radio heaven.
alright. Now really good night. Thanks again, peeps.

I love this forum. I post something, then get a question about it that I want to answer, then it takes an hour, getting lost in a dozen fascinating topics, to get to the bottom of the page where I can reply, then I have to go BACK to find the question that I wanted to answer because everything else is so danged interesting that I've forgotten what is was:H:H

I've always been an insatiable reader, but find listening just as satisfying and I get a lot more done! I use Audible.com for downloading books onto my iPod. My sister gets a lot from iTunes, I think, but I've never even looked there. DG, are you asking about generic mp3 players vs. iPods? Can't quite tell, and don't know, actually, My sister uses a Zune, or something like that. I'm on my 2nd iPod in about 8 years. I have an old, funky iPod holder that I can strap to my arm, stick my earbuds in my ear, and get just about anything done (well, not things that require me to think about them, but mindless stuff like cleaning, ironing . . . this weekend I'll be painting my bathroom, etc.).

I have yet to do Pandora. I can't drag myself away from Leonard Cohen and Bruce Cockburn to look for anything else Hopefully I'll grow tired of them someday, but this has been going on for quite a while now!!

And Ne, I'm a Wait, Wait groupie, too. (of course :H) Also, Christa Tippett's Sunday show "On Being." I subscribe to her podcasts and this reminds me that there are a bunch of them that I've missed. Yippee! I'll transfer them soon. Always inspiring and usually incredibly so.

Ummm . . . oh yeah . . . I haven't gotten into the coconut oil thing, but I LOVE how I feel on the boat-load of supplements that I take, which includes tyrosine and fish oil, along with a bunch of other stuff. I started using them in hopes of repairing some of the dain-bramage that I'd done with alcohol. Not sure that's happening, but I feel good and I never get sick, so that's good enough for now!

And that is all, for now.

My favorite and most listened to podcast atm. It's ~8 minutes long:

What color's the bathroom going to be? I want mine silver-y, but I think we're going to move in the spring and don't think I'll have it in me.

Pool Boys would be even better! (where oh where is Evan...)

My top 3.... Wow it's hard to pick just 3!

                          *All One
                          *Coconut Oil
                          *Magnesium
                          ---------------
                          *L-Tryptophan
                          *Vit C
*Probiotic (which I would love to stop taking if I would stop eating the dang sugar!)

Well, that's enough for now. There are a few other things I pop but am not sure if I really need them. I'm due for a doc checkup mid-December and plan to review with her at that time.

Ne - LOL I will start thinking I've got the semester nailed and then a teacher will come up with a random extra project / assignment / quiz / etc. So I guess it won't be over 'til it's over!

Red I know what you mean about starting in on MWO and then wandering around and hours later....... which I would love to do today but cannot! I'm not sure either what I'm asking about iPods/MP3's. We have a massive collection of music between Mr. Doggy and I that he transfered to our computer network. But to put stuff on my iPod, I have to first import it to iTunes and then put it on a playlist, blah blah blah. I really am a no teknik. I just hate that whole process. Then I'll end up erasing everything on my iPod or something like that. Ugh. I guess if it ever becomes important enough to me I'll figure it out! :H

:cupajoe: Have a lovely day one and all!

The first place you should start is fish oil. Our ratio of pro-inflammatory polyunsaturated omega-6 to omega-3 has become around 40-1, when it should be 1-1. There's lots of reasons why the ratios are so out of whack. Corn-fed beef is partly to blame, but also vegetable oils, some of which even proudly display "Omega-6" on the cover, as if it were a good thing. Look up the benefits of Omega 3, especially from fish rather than flakseed, and you'll be amazed.

I just loaded up my iPhone with The Paleo Solution podcasts, and will be listening to those instead of Daft Punk for awhile and :upset:

You people definitely are infectious(I'm pretty positive that's the right word) with your health-consciousness. I'm actually caring about what I put in my body. Just 6 months ago, I was buying beer and cup o noodles at 6 am, and now I see both of those as poison, and am now familiar with the terms ghrelin, lectins, and Sacajawea.

Hi Bruun, hope your ok today, Ne, Im new at coconut oil as well only bought it coz everyone on here was talking about it, I have started taking it of a morning with warm weetabix and then later on in herbal tea, I find that they are pretty easy ways to get it down, although I cant ever see myself saying yum about it! Also been using it as face cream to make me look young and beautiful again heehee and on my hair last night to make it shiny and glossy, if they work you might see me on the cover of vogue. Red I agree this forum is addictive, Ive been a member on here for a few years but not used it much but now I cant get off it, we will have to join a MWO recovery group soon haha Doggy you are great, and I think very clever and informed as is Bruun, okay okay and Ne,Is,Red,Lush, have I missed anyone if so Im sorry I love the help and advice on here as well as the fun thats what so great about MWO we can be serious when needed, we can moan and rant when needed then its fun too! I cant get All One here in UK, I cant even seem to find anything I think would be like it so I take multivitamin tablet instead, as well as all the other stuff Ive started taking.
