    Bruun's Titting UP

Very good on all counts. How much weight?

      Bruun's Titting UP

I think I went from 275lbs to 205. My BP started to drop as soon as my weight did, even before I began exercising. I know there are loads of reasons why people can have high BP, but for me it was weight, pure and simple.

oh shootiecakes, i gotta run to the bank and sign off for them to give me a bunch of money (yay, good job!), but i couldn't help chiming in...

doggie, how great! all a's! but even better: you cared about what you were learning. sometimes i 'forget' to grade students' work, and they ask me 'whaddi get?'. i hate that! i ask them, 'whaddya learn?' usually stops them cold, with a blank stare. frickin' punished by reward, man! we've -with our institutional learning that started by teaching kids to obey orders and fit into factories- turned 'education' into a put info in and see how well they spit it back out regimen. what a tragedy! if this country doesn't turn its schooling around, and fast, we'll soon be licking our wounds of their salt, as the rest of the world (that puts money into education when the ship starts to sink) takes us over and leaves us in the dirty dust.

sorry to be a downer, but obviously i feel very strongly about this sort of thing.

bruun, sorry about the bp! dammit again! lifer, glad you're not fat anymore!

bye all. i'm off to get that yankee dollar!

DG, 50lbs! That's amazing! I think I'd be a sack of empty skin if I got that far, but I'd be TINY. I'd like to lose 30+ though. Hope I don't have giant empty sacks of skin all over the place although maybe it would be convenient, I'd be like Kanga, with easy access to all my stuff right in my belly skin.

The chiropractor is going to help me with my back and sciatica so I can exercise again, but right now all I'm allowed to do is upper body. My lower body is too messed up and they want to work on it first and release some of the tied up muscles. OMG the therapeutic masseuse hurts me alot! Apparently my hips, glutes and lower back are all a major mess. I have alot of hope that I'll feel hella better after commiting the money and time to correcting these issues though, and I'm happy about it. Fifty pounds, DG, wow. And Not-Brenda, 70lbs, that's amazing. If I can get to an ideal weight, I could actually consider dating again.

Regarding our education (US) system, its always been a mess. Its just more of a mess due to No Child Left Behind. An ex-teacher friend once told me they are required to use these new textbooks that are supremely expensive and they aren't nearly as effective as the old ones she keeps hidden in her classroom. She's the top teacher in her entire elemetary school so I guess she knows what she's talking about. Even if she's an insane bitch in her personal life. LOL

Bruun I got a twinge just reading your post. I went through a year of horrible sciatic pain and ultimately had back surgery (absolutely the right decision in my case!). It was so scary to consider surgery but MAN - the pain relief was immediate. I had a disc buldging out onto the sciatic nerve. I did chiropractic, physical therapy, cortisone shots, you name it. Nothing helped. LOL even the chiropractor was begging me to go see the surgeon! Anyway...I guess that's rare though. Most people find relief with the things you are doing. I DO remember a deep butt oops I mean gluteal massage. Not pleasant!

If I can get to an ideal weight, I could actually consider dating again.
Weight is not a prerequisite for dating. The man who will love you as you are won't care what your scale says in the AM. :b&d: You are a beautiful person!!!!! If YOU are not happy with your weight, then only change it for YOU, OK? :l

I weighed 204 when I took my last drink.

                  Bruun's Titting UP

I know the drill DG darling girl, love thyself etc, however the reality of dating in So Cal is that you must be average/slim/fit to get a date with someone who has a job and isn't a freak and isn't hugely obese. You've never been a 40 YO woman dating in surf city, I can tell!

Not being a total hypocrite, I do like a man with some meat on him but the last guy I dated was probably 300+ and could only (he says) have sex in one position. I do not know what that position was, since my friend was dating him when that data was elicited, thankfully. I had given him up for a couple reasons, one being that he couldn't walk around the block due to his weight which was a concern for me. But I passed him on to a friend, being the giver that I am. LOL

OMG that deep butt massage, man, that woman was about to kill me. Felt like she was trying to tear muscle from bone.

I know it's wrong of me to dwell on such things but I'm intrigued and want to know what that position was. Presumably fairly immobile (on his part). I can't imagine much in the way of bedroom gymnastics.

RE education: it's the same in the UK. Grades and league tables rule. Schools teach for exam results, not for the purposes of educating and nurturing well-rounded individuals. I hugely respect any teacher who manages to keep the faith and educates rather than exam-trains. I take my hat off to them (and my boxers too).

I hear what you're saying regarding weight and dating, Bruun. In this hideously sexist world in which we live, it's easier for an overweight bloke to get by than an overweight bird. It's wrong but that's the way it is.

Oh God, lucky I checked the above before I posted it: I'd written "I know it's wrong of me to swell on such things". Is there a Freudian around the campfire?

                      Bruun's Titting UP

Happy Holidays, oh Happy Holidays...this is the song I'm singing in my head as I prepare to rush out this weekend in a mad dash to try to continue my Christmas shopping. Preparing for Christmas with my work schedule and three wee ones is a daunting task.

DG, welcome back! Congrats on your school work...all A's? This is kick-ass. Your weight loss is phenomenal. I've lost 50lbs now as well. It's the total from my last pregnancy 3 years ago. I first lost 30lbs (over a period of time) then gained back 10 on bac, and then lost another 30 (much more quickly). Does that count? Even though the first amount was from pregnancy, or a few of them?

Isolde, you sound absolutely fabulous. I am so happy you found Vyvanse. Your experience really has me thinking that maybe that's a better option than Adderall. Can you recommend any Paleo books? I think I'm eating pretty much Paleo anyway, minus what I read SP write about the legumes. I do eat those. I'd like to read a book.

Bruun! I'm sorry to hear about your DDD (degenerative disc disease). It sounds like you're doing everything you can. The massages, chiro, and whatever exercise you can do. Are you going to do PT? (physical therapy). I have some pain in my midthoracic spine. I get around it with exercise and weight lifting of the chest and upper back. If I don't exercise I get so stiff I can barely move. I think I need an MRI, but I don't want to know. I think many people in my profession end up with disc problems (from heavy lifting) which really sucks.

Congrats to the 5 days AF, my friend! :l This is incredible.

                        Bruun's Titting UP

Hello Bruun and friends! Figures that NB would be swelling around the campfire. :H (I confess I too am curious about what position)

I just started reading a book called The Female Body Breakthrough by Rachel Cosgrove. I'm betting Is might know of this as it is about strength training. I haven't got to that part yet LOL! I'm still in chapter 1! But it is VERY motivating. She talks about being a BITCH. Be Inspiring Totally Confident and HOT!!! Gotta get that mind set right, then the body will follow. Stuff like that. I'm loving it for the first 10 pages anyway!! :H

Is I need to read back and see what's going on but it sounds all good! I am so happy for you!

Red I lost 56 pounds in the first 7 or 8 months of sobriety. Really had my diet under control. Maintained nicely for well over a year. Then I let sugar back in the door, and it's been a rocky ride ever since. I gained over 20 back and was just disgusted about it. I've now lost about 8 of what I gained and feel like I'm back on some kind of right track. Just gotta stay there now! Congrats on your FABULOUS progress!

I just want us all to be the FABULOUS women that we are capable of in every way! And when I say that, I have to share that I miss Brenda as "one of the girls."

Back to mixed topics....how is Pete doing? And LoOp?

Bruun I hope your sciatic nerve is behaving today and that you and all the wonderful campfire friends have a great day! I'm off to AA to say hi to friends I haven't seen since mid semester! Then...I don't know. Probably a lot of goofing off is in my future today!

Being a bitch can work at times, DG. :H Eight pounds is awesome! You'll have that 20 off in no time at this rate. I won't lose any more weight. I'm actually in a place that I shouldn't. Who knew?

Okay, my mind has been thinking about the positions that would be possible with him being 300 plus pounds. I'm going to tell you which one I think it is. It's the woman on top position. His belly would get in the way of most everything else, I think. Just my .02 for the day.

EDIT AGAIN: I took out my addendum. I think my bac must be kicking in!

                            Bruun's Titting UP

This has been the most entertaining conversation!

I'm encouraged by the weight loss stories. I'm not overweight but I'm a little thick for my size. I'm only 5'4" and 145lbs. I'd like to be 130lbs.

I lost 80lbs in 2008 by going sober, taking control of my diet, and starting to exercise. But, thing was, at the time I always considered my sobriety temporary. I did it just to lose weight, not because I should stop drinking.

Now it's almost 2012 and I'm trying to be sober for sober's sake. And I need to get a little strict on my diet again because I'll never drop this 15lbs if I don't.

But it's encouraging to read everyone's stories.

                              Bruun's Titting UP

Good morning! I hereby dub this thread "The Weight Loss and Sexual Positions for Fat Men Thread."

Weight: All these fabulously successful people are challenging me! I lost 24lbs this year then gained 5 back this past month or so. I'm planning to diet with a buddy at work, and my goal is to turn 50 in August with 20-30lbs gone and the body back in some kind of shape through the chiro/massage/exercise. Red, I'm doing some PT, mostly stretching exercises at this point. I'd like to do something like crew but I'm in such lousy physical condition that I need to work out first. I have so much testosterone that I have excellent upper body strength when I've been working out hard. Its difficult to go to the gym while fat as a cow, its too humiliating. I'm planning to go back after I lose another 20lbs but in the interim I will walk and do some weights at home.

Sexual Positions: I don't think a woman could get on top of that man, he had all his body fat in his belly. He looked normal from behind, but that gut was probably 70lbs in itself. At least. I was thinking the only position would be him lying on the bed with his feet on the floor, unit at the ready for a standing woman. Pure romance!

Other Topics: Red, I know how you feel, my mom wants me to go to the orthoped - she comes from the era of Chiro=Quacks. I'm afraid they'll want to put me on steroids or cut me up. Or shoot me up. Maybe they'd give me an RX for the pain tho, something besides gabapentin since that makes my BP go up. You should get the MRI because at the very least, you can stop the accumulation of damage once you know the situation. That's where I'm at.

Confession: I had wine last night. :upset: Something about the rest of the world being so busy with the holidays and me having nothing but chores to do. My family has given up gifting because of $$ and the only thing I can do is give something free or inexpensive. All I've come up with is cookies but that's a recipe for gaining 5lbs for me; however, I may do it regardless because I feel I need some holiday work instead of clean the floorboards or organize the messy home office work. Any ideas for fun free gifting for family members welcomed here!

Have a great Saturday everyone, I'm off to the farmers market for my weekly mocha and green smoothy pickup.

OK. So Bruun. :b&d: on all that BS about why you drank, 'K? Not that the stuff is BS. Using as an excuse to drink is BS. You already know that though. Said with all the love I got.

Wow you are way more creative than me figuring out the one sexual position! Sounds like that would work in a very non :h sort of way.

Red, there is a hair salon that I pass on my way to school. It's in this older downtown area of a small town that has been all rennovated. It has a giant artsy silouette of red hair! One of these days I'm going to stop and take a picture of it. (if I can find a parking spot LOL!) I think of you every time I look at it!

In-law party tomorrow. Will be a sugar laden mine field. I am determined NOT to fall off the wagon. It's one afternoon. I am taking plenty of "me" appropriate food & beverage. If I want to splurge there will be plenty of fattening non-sugar stuff there. I am also taking a new game and hoping to engage at least one kid in something other than face stuffing. That is my plan and I am SO DETERMNED that's what I will do. It's too hard to get off of sugar once I start. Not worth it.

There, I said it. please send me some strength vibes come tomorrow, OK?
