Good morning Bruun!!! LOL I guess I just assumed you *liked* to swim since you have a pool. I used to live in Florida so I should know better LOL! It's really funny - my pool in Florida was way more of a doggy swimming pool than a people swimming pool. A people floating pool on occassion. But always a doggy swimming pool. :H

Can relate to childhood athletics and never wanting to touch it again. I was a mommy pushed baton twirler myself. Fed my mother's competitive drives. Not good. To this day she will find a box of trophies or a costume or (horrors) an actual baton in her basement and offer them to me. NOPE!!!!

DG, hungover again. Determined to not be tomorrow Monday. Can't hack this. Praying alot for help from whoever is out there to fix today and tomorrow and help me repair me. Soon, darnit.

Totally went off the diet last night, ordered pizza, it sucked so gave it to the neighbors then ordered in Thai, ate about an 50grams, went to bed (passed out). 2 hours ago had some left-overs for breakfast, gross. Watched the rest of the movie I rented but coudn't stay awake for.

Effing dog drank so much water at the dogpark yesterday he threw up twice INSIDE the car, two minutes into the drive home. Also, the previous few nights he's had diarrhea, so he's sleeping in the garage these days, so have many piles of soup in the garage covered with cat litter so I can pick it up once it dries. No diarrhea this AM though, so things are looking up. So exhausted with the diarrhea/barfing yesterday. AND, the hot tub is now full of duck shit, found a male maliard in the pool this AM scouting breeding grounds. Roast duck anyone?

DG, have you ever used a holistic method for giardia/worming? I'm afraid his constant runs are from a parasite so gave him some stuff I have on hand, Natural Holistic Health Care For Your Domestic Dogs And Cats with Wormguard Plus Super Concentrate for Dogs and Cats, Kitten and Puppy Wormer WormGuard Plus With Immune Boost, FleaGuard Natural Flea/Tick Powder For doga and cats, and pet treats.. Gave him what they suggested but he would only eat half (mixed with cottage cheese) but seems to have made it DAY 1 D-free for my buddy.

Oh Bruun I am so sorry you have a hangover and dealing with the dog D on top of it. The D problems around here are related to a specific health issue with this dog. Knock on wood we haven't needed to fight parasites in a long time, so I have nothing to offer there. I hope what you found does the trick!

One of the things I found useful in the early days was to keep handy a LOOOONG written list of stuff to do besides drink. It had some chore type stuff on it, but also fun stuff. When I would be in the grip of a craving, I just couldn't think straight about what to do to distract myself from it. So having that written list was like "Distraction 101" for me. I even had stuff like "drink a glass of water" on my list. Simple stuff in addition to more glamorous stuff. The important thing for me was to get my mind on something else immediately. "Active" things (take a walk, go to the local history museum, clean a closet, throw a frisbee with a dog) always worked better for me than "passive" type things (read a book, watch TV)

Don't know if that helps, but that was a big tool for me. Lots of good tools in the Toolbox thread.

I'm not following this thread for purely selfish reasons. It's a time sucker. Every time I read a little, I have to force myself to put it down. Wish I didn't, but I don't have enough time. I love it when I allow myself to indulge, but that's not often.

DG, stayed AF last night, thank the gods. Hit the wall, am exhausted still, but feel like my burning edge wore me down enough that last night was barely a fight. Tonight, on the other hand, could be hard won.

Have my echo today, so that may be interesting. I have to remember all the pains and weird feelings and locations of same to describe to the cardiologist. You only get one chance with docs, and most of what you say goes out the window anyways. As you allllllll know so well.

Cheers, here's to a hopefully uplifting day. Thought for the day: My life is entirely too boring OR stressful, depending on the moment. I want to do something meaningful and exhilarating with the rest of my life, only I feel so tied down by financial issues. Today I am going to brainstorm new lives to live. Example one, open a clinic in Mexico to treat AL and other addictions with baclofen, Nal, Ibogaine, exercise/detox/healthy eating. Of course, I'd have to recruit a doctor-looking type to come make it legit, eh? Otherwise, I'm sure I could afford the expense of a couple of white lab coats and play the part.
