    Bruun's Titting UP

Ibogaine sounds incredible, I'd love to try it. That's precisely the attitude that got me into this mess in the first place though, so it is perhaps something I need to address! In the meantime, I say go for it Bruun. PbarE had nothing but good reports of it as well.

Why are you at work on a Sunday, or have you sorted out your posting woes at long last?

      Bruun's Titting UP

Hey bleep, I just posted a new thread about ibogaine, while on 40mg of baclofen ironically. Lots of nervous anxiety this weekend, really not sure why except I'm lonely/bored/hungover.

      Is, LOL

Rusty, I know you are, thank you! I'm on the way up the mountain, I hope I hit it tonight so I can have an AF relapse. Loved those two weeks!

Bleep - I'm on my work pc at home because I cannot post on my home pc and it's making me crazy as shit. ARGGGGGGG.

I say all willing and able meet in Mexico for a group discounted ibogaine. Pbar says he's going to do bac for maintenance, right, so this could be good for bleepster too.

Good that you are at home and not at the office on this fine Sunday!

And here I thought Ibogaine was for bald guys who want hair....

Actually I read some of Pbar's stuff about it. You know what? If I was stuck where I used to be stuck and couldn't find my way out, I would try it. I would try anything to get out of that place. If you decide to go for it, I will be here :yougo: along with the rest of the crazies around MWO.

          Bruun's Titting UP

          New Start Today

          LOL DG, too funny.

Update for my thread - I made a sort of breakthrough to the edge of the forest yesterday. I have been hungover and weak and tired and bored as a result (too weak/tired to do much) and started feeling like I'd had enough. Also, my bday is one month away now, and that's motivating me. Last, next Sunday I have to feel pretty good for a long walk and lunch with a friend. Also, I started bac again a couple of weeks ago. And ... I had a two beer night. That was about 1/10th the units of my recent AL nights, for the past month or two.

The house is AL free. And I'm determined to keep talking to myself about the way AL burns my stomach and gives me diarrhea, how it makes me fat and weak and bald (I think it, or the insulin resistance it creates, adds to my thinning hair issue). I'm doing the HCG diet for the week to give me added motivation to avoid AL. Any little cheat will ruin any weight loss.

So, I'm back on track I think, and thinking positive - and DG that ibogaine still sounds like a good tool I may use so I'm working on renewing my passport.

Have a great day, all. :l

          Over and out.

That's great Bruun! When you say back on baclofen, do you mean you're going the whole way this time, or are you still using it as a prn tool?

I'd seriously look at ibogaine as well. It seems to have a spiritual side to the what's the word, conversion? that baclofen doesn't look at in any way. Sounds like the real deal as well.

              I'M NOT HUNGOVER TODAY!!!

              Hi Bleep,

I can't go "all the way" due to my blood pressure skyrocketing when I hit 80bps. I use it for anxiety and in the hopes it can help me with cravings.

I feel so relieved and thankful to not be sick today.

Thanks for your encouragement. Maybe we can all go Ibogaine and get a group discount.

                Bruun's Titting UP

I had researched Ibogaine in my quest to find a pharmalogical agent or anything to kill the beast. I've never heard of anyone who actually took it before, until Pbar. I find it mighty interesting. We HD bacsters would have wean off bac and any other chemical agents. Which in my case, are starting to accrue. :H. And while I liked to experiment with hallucinogens in my youth, I don't know if I'm ready to do it now. I would be up for a vaca in Mexico. I'm drooling at the thought. While you are all at the Ibogaine clinic on a spiritual journey and killing the beast, I could be relaxing on the beach. Sipping a pina colada (or a virgin one we'll see where I'm at), patiently awaiting your return.

Bruun, do you think you might have PCOS? With the hair loss and I know you've mentioned irregular periods in the past.

I'm going to research your honey. I don't want to drop a ton of dough on anything more at the moment, though.

                  Bruun's Titting UP

                  Hi Red,

Thanks for thinking of me. I insisted that I have PCOS in fact, and the doctors conceded it was possible but I believe metabolic syndrome has similar symptoms (which they diagnosed) and I didn't have visible cysts (I know you don't have to for PCOS to exist but the doctors like to rely on the tests). At any rate, it's been several years, but I recall they gave me a birth control pill which made me crazy, it was verrrry low dose but still. I've taken progesterone with resulting depression, against all odds. They gave me metformin, which scared the pants off (can kill your kidneys and you can't drink on it) me so I don't take it. I'm currently on thyroid replacement which has done nothing for my hair but has given me energy and a mental lift. Note I'm on three kinds of hypertensive meds which can cause hair loss - considering I've been on some type of BP pill since I was 22, I'm now almost 49, the hair loss could be due to that? They all seem to have it as a potential side effect but so does everything.

I can't make sense of it - my alkie friends didn't lose their hair, my exercise friends didn't have multiple surgeries, my friends who ate crap food didn't lose their hair etc. And aside from AL and the occasional milk shake, I eat very paleo and organic. My thyroid friends got their hair back and weight down. Not me wah:upset:! Of course, my main culprit is AL and once I get that under control, I expect everything to change.

Regarding ibogaine, Anne1312 took it too. No one else has come forward.

                    Bruun's Titting UP

Metabolic syndrome and PCOS go hand in hand. Yes, metformin helps with the insulin resistance caused by either, theoretically. One can't drink on it as you stated, it would be too hard on the liver. I've had mild metabolic syndrome after my last kid (my red locks even fell out), so I know how distressing that is. I reversed it with diet, exercise, and supps.

I too am confused. You eat the proper diet. I believe you take supps, right? I know alcohol can be a killer for metabolic syndrome, but I reversed mine even with some drinking (changed all my labs for the better, hair grew back thick). I'm sure you've already heard this, but do you take whey protein? I know studies have shown it to actually reverse this to a degree. How about alpha lipoic acid? It works well with acetyl l carnitine. did I read you're taking this in the holistic section? Both work well with CoQ10.

I don't mean to beat a dead horse, I know you are very well read on this stuff. Yes, I am thinking of you. I know it sucks.

Phones dying, time for a recharge.

                      Hair and Supplements

Red, I figure it's got to be the AL and the BP meds. I'm so glad your hair grew back, I'm visualizing that and taking tons of supplements. I take whey protein but normally these days only every couple of days when I get fed up with all the meat in Paleo. I used to get a ton of my proteins from soy and beans but I'm avoiding those too. But to clarify, if I replace some animal protein with whey you think that might help my hair? I'll have to google that!!

Is = ALA alpha lipoic acid? I take ground flax seed, I think Determinator says it's a good source of ALA. I do take fish oil, D, B's, B12 shots, niacin, piracetam, choline panethine, All-One, whey powder, iron, adrenal and thyroid supports, and copper - and a multi. And some other crap on occasion, of course, when I reopen the big bag of bottles and find biotin again and give it a whirl.

And L Carnitine, you're saying that's good for the hair? I have tons and tons of pills like most people do here, after reading a hundred books on health and diet and AL recovery. I know C0Q10 is supposed to be a fix for virtually everything, but I'm so tired of miracle pills, I'm skeptical. However, I probably do have a bottle of it somewhere... so if you know something about these supplements and hair, let me know what I'm missing. This puzzle needs solving! I appreciate your trying to help me. Seems like everyone has given up on me except me when it comes to the hair. (I simply can't)

I do have a friend who stopped drinking (rehab) and her hair got thicker so I'm figuring that will help. Sorry to natter on....

Natter away, good to have you back!

Holy cow, woman. How do you make the time for all those pills???

What was I gonna say? Oh, yes. I had reason to look up controlled drug information the other day (don't ask, not so interesting!) and Ibogaine was mentioned, it's at the top o' the list. Didn't read why, but it made me smirk a little.
Sounds like a very interesting...trip. Like RedH, I woulda been game when I was at the top (bottom?) of my game, but now? Then again, I saw a faith healer on Oprah in nowhere South America (jungles of Brazil, maybe?) and swear to you that I looked into finding a way to go. Apparently he doesn't even have to touch you--just cures what ills/ails from afar. I cried that day, over the absurdity of the thought and because I wanted to do it so badly. Really. :boohoo:

Hang tough sister. You got this. I'll meet you in Mexico, too. But do you think we could all start in Chicago first? I'm broke.

                        See you on the 'morrow.

Hey Ne, good to hear your voice here. Heck, I can walk to Mexico, Chicago is a few dollars away. We'll have to postpone until you're just dying for some beach and sunshine (maybe January) then you'll be up for the ibogaine vacation. I think it would be worth it, although I worry about what could happen. I haven't really researched that part yet, but will. I'll post it somewhere if it's relevant.

Ibogaine is one of (I hear) several "roots" shamanism uses which differs by culture but they do require you drink the slop, I believe. There's a book describing a woman like us going into the jungle for a cure/adventure. In fact, I'd like to reread it, maybe I'll go find it wherever it is..... Reading sober is so much better. :l It's called The White Mary by a National Geographic journalist/adventurer wrote about her trek to/through the jungles of Papua New Guinnea. After reading that, I felt like you did, I felt like it could heal me, this shamanism. You'd love this book, it's amazing. Amazon.com: The White Mary: A Novel: Kira Salak: Books

PS - the pills are all in my home office and kitchen lying about in wait. I'll be on the phone with work people filling my hands with different pills and gulp them down ... then while they're stuck in my throat, the person on the phone will say, "hello hello, are you still there" probably thinking I'm in the bathroom on mute but no, I'm choking to death for my health. :H

Alas Bruun, those supps aren't necessarily good for hair per se, they are good for metabolic syndrome. If you think it's the bp meds, it won't necessarily do you any good. Except CoQ10 is good for bp I hear. ALA is alpha lipoic acid. I love this supp! The only supps I know of to help with hair are biotin and pantothenic acid (B5).

Thanks Red - personally I think going AF will fix my metabolic syndrome completely. I have high expectations of this! I also think it will help my hair grow back and help my blood pressure meds be reduced which may help too. All in all, I have so many reasons to stop drinking and once I'm in that drinking hell I cannot MAKE it happen, but sometimes I get to the edge of willpower and can grab a hold.

                              AF yesterday.
