bruun, you shouldn't seal the jar! they mean take out the cap insert and put cheesecloth or thin, breathable cloth under the screw-on part of the lid instead of the closure part. if your tea doesn't 'breathe' -get o2- then it will not ferment. ya know what i mean?

Bruun, just wanted to say real quick, because I forgot to earlier - look up D-Mannose for UTIs. Cranberry juice isn't the best natural fix.Better Living Through Chemistry
Switched at 180mgs of Baclofen on 1/31/11, and again on 10/8/11 at 200mgs.
Could've been a swan on a glassy lake, could've been a gull in a clipper's wake. Could've been a ladybug on a windchime, but she was born a dragonfly.

I took a pic of my kombucha last night, but as my computer is still all funkified, I couldn't get it off of my camera in order to post it. I moved on to step 2, which is to brew a quart of tea and add it to your already brewing kombucha. I went searching for something that would work as a brewing vessel, like a sun tea jar, but had no luck yesterday. For now it's in a water pitcher. Supposedly it'll be about 2 weeks before the mushroom is big enough to start brewing me some ingestible kombucha, so I've got some time.Better Living Through Chemistry

Ah thanks, I needed the help on both the UTI and the kombucha (now unsealed but I wonder what anaerobic yuckiness could have brewed over the past week), as mine was doing nothing but causing concern. I don't have canning special jars like you sophisticate Ruby, and my brain has been funky so I couldn't google it yesterday. Brain still funky today so thanks for the help again.
D-Mannose-ordering it from Vitacost now. I did find some old Alldaychemist tabs of rx so solved that issue that night thank GOD but of course it killed off all the good bacteria in my gut again.... ugh. Luckily the local natural foods market gets their raw milk shipment in tomorrow.
Wish I knew about the DM in my 30's - my doctor gave me an RX of pills to take on before each sexual encounter. Between that and the tetracycline for my rosacea and the slew of antibiotics I got as a kid, its amazing I am alive at all and not just one big slush of bad bacteria. In fact, maybe that's exactly what I am.
I know Brenda has the same issue, if you date a brit with their bad oral hygiene, you get bad UTIs all the time unless you don't let him go down there.

Bruun, I had to look 6 times to figure out that was a little mustache at the bottom of your post! :H I guess some nasty bacteria could get stuck in there, eh?
Quick in and out for me today but want to say hi to everyone here at the 5 star. How are you Bruun? Is - how is your knee? Have you been back to that sports doc dude?
I bet you all are playing on some other thread without me! :upset:Sobriety Date = 5/22/08

bruun, i think if your tea doesn't smell funky, it's probably still ok. chances are, a few days of no air didn't do any harm. and the jars i mention are nothing fancy at all. get a wide mouth half gallon mason jar (usually findable at a health food store), and it'll come with the two-part lid. or, use a jar you have with cloth and a rubber band, like i suggested.
sorry about all that junk they poured into you. it's great that you do so much to build yourself back up. i'm sure all the gut imbalance has a hell of a lot to do with your health issues, and the drinking. makes me think about what redthread was saying about the gut and health and ayurvedic healing.
did the doc give you pre-sex medicine so you wouldn't get a yeast infection?
nite nite all!
doggy, school sounds cool!
is, dag about your computer still.

That stuff you all are going to drink sounds absolutely awful!
My dad brewed some stuff with a Korean friend of his years ago. It STUNK! and when they drank it, they got drunk as skunks and stunk too!
Sorry you are not feeling so hot Bruun. I will have to look up the D-Mannose, I have never heard of it.
Lot's and lot's of water girl.
Cold here in Texas! Suppose to get a freeze.
I have to go cover the bushes I busted my ass over to keep alive during the draught!
I need a man. Or maybe I WANT a man.
I am tired of doing man things. I am tired of games and dating and such.
Fall always make me weird like that.
I'll snap out of it in a minute!
Have a great evening!

Cool, thanks my lovlies. xxxooo
No Brenda, that's just hugs, nothing more intimate physically.:creepydude:
Roo, I think I would resent you if I knew you since you're so thin and active and healthy. It makes me feel better knowing we're battling the same disease. I wonder if one of the reasons older women like me (29 like DG) have problems with HDB. It's not just hormone hormones, its fat hormones - anyone with extra fat, including Brenda who I happen to know had a breast reduction like me, that fat stores have estrogen in them. Correct me if I'm wrong on any counts, B. Hey, we're all B's here, even DG and Is! Only in real life and fake life though, so not sure how that counts. I thought reducing the fat in my boobs would help with the rest but although I can now run without hitting myself in the chin with boobage, I can't run due to my knees etc. DG I have been researching chiropractors who have PT clinics. Thinking the synchronicity would be great compared to the lack of attention you get here. Such a rat race. Have a job offer which could keep me where I am or relocate me to Pacific Northwest (Petey, want a dog and two cats and a bitch (human) roomie? Think we'd last two weeks?). Or to Hawaii or Alaska. Zowee, change sounds great but am I too old for it. Twenty years ago would have moved to NYC, Brenda, how do you like it? I liked that the guys appreciated big boobs and a pretty face and opened doors. Or do you frequent the gay bars? (Referencing your gay thing_/
DG, yeah Brenda is from NYC, but I'm from So Cal and had that problem - guy was raised by a Brit, she taught him Brit ways I expect. Guy couldn't even clean his counters, first time I visited I was doing counter cleaning - something I do so well at OTHER PEOPLES HOUSES but not my own. Mine is full of unused pills. Remind me Brenda to take the damn niacin.
Lush, cold in TX, eh, its going to be very cold here in San Diego too, 62. At least the pool algae will be unhappy even if I'm not so much. But the rain here in So Cal, not clean rain like in No Cal. Being there was a soul cleansing but very expensive experience. Wish I could have not sold that house.... Arg, need to change the thoughts in my head again. Keep doing that battering ram to myself all day and especially at night.

I agree and will always and forever take my probiotics in a pill.
I need a man. No you don't.

Bruun - do we get a discount here at the 5 star if we are a "B?" :H Northern CA is so beautiful. Well, Southern CA is too. I lived in the San Jose area for a brief time about 20 years ago. I was a heavy drinker and smoker which was NOT cool in Northern CA! I hated it mainly for those reasons. Sad how my addictions controlled my life in so many ways - but I didn't see any of it.
Happy Friday one and all! I'm off to help a friend with some stuff and then study for my final. If you see me goofing around on MWO later today, please come and :b&d: me back to the books.
Hi Pete, Brenda, Is, rudyb, all friends and lurkers. Have a great day!
