    Let's meet in Chicago!

Wow, that IS a call-out, thanks Nev. I need to be AL free or mod'ing to even consider going, but ideally that will happen starting NOW.

      Let's meet in Chicago!

:H:H:H You got me, Ne. Well, not so much now. But I am a recovering vegetarian and used turning 50 as an excuse to shave my legs and put on make-up. I did wear high-heels a few weeks ago to go worship at the altar of Leonard Cohen when he played his final gigs in Vegas. So who knows . . . this is sounding like a LOT of fun!

        Let's meet in Chicago!

Reading bac over this thread makes me giggle. I am so excited to lay eyes on you people. I've had to amend some of my posts. Seems that we may have room for only one honorary guest at our table. A lot remains unclear, though.

What're we gonna do, I wonder? There were a bunch of people in general who got together... I'll find the thread and find out if they just sat and stared at each other over their fru-fru AL-free drinks, or if they really had FUN. I vote for stupid crazy fun. Stay up til all hours fun. Paint Gromm's toenails fun. Do lo0ps hair and watch SITC fun.

Okay, maybe that's not so fun. But the last time I had fun in a social setting without booze I was about 12. Seriously. We broke out the bottles we snuck from our parent's liquor cabinets for sleepovers when we were about 13. Boyz entered the picture soon after... Well and the rest is disease-ridden, tragi-comedy. No fabulous shoes in sight. and
        Whatever. I'm over myself.
Southwest doesn't book this far in advance, which I hope bodes well for the cheap airfare. And I'm going to do my level best to be a good social-director-busy-bee and find out what's fun that's going on there at that point. What do you like to do? ahem. That we can all do fully clothed as a group. Just sayin'

PS Redthread, you shaved for the honor of meeting a half century? good for you! I might be of a mind to buy some birks and quit shaving. But probably not. I tried that for a couple of years and it wasn't pretty. I like it better that you wore heels for Leonard. That's awesome.

          Let's meet in Chicago!

I can't say that I've had fun without alcohol since my young teens either. I also can't say I'm going to be without it in October at this rate. I'll probably have a flask in my purse. Lol! There are plenty of great things to do in this city. You have Taw and I to help with the goings on around town.

Be glad your not here now. We have sleet with thunder and lightning. I have to say my kids are going crazy happy with the storm. They are running around like little maniacs. The weather in early October is lovely in Chicago. It's perfect usually. You have the warm Indian summer days and the cool nights. The leaves are changing and at their height in color. Just gorgeous.

                Let's meet in Chicago!

Meeting in Chicago over the weekend of October 10th seems like an awfully good goal for me to reinvest in.
Wonder how we can convince the sorry-shaved-sheep-shagger and the others to join us?

Huullllooooo newbies on the bac ride. I know where some of you live and it ain't that far from Chicago!

                  I might come

I want to be switched by then, but I'm within driving distance of Chi town.

                  Who's committed to going?

                            It's gonna be fun!

Switch is not a prerequisite. Neither is bac for that matter. (imho)

I'm going to step out on a limb and say that I don't even think abstinence is a requirement, you know? (heresy in recovery!)
But if someone gets drunk and falls down, and they are not drinking against their will, but are actually trying to get drunk, then I'm going to make fun of them. If they're drinking against their will...
                            hmmm. That makes me sad.

Sorry for the random thoughts...geez. Already overthinking the trip. I'm going to look at flights and stick with that.

I am in. I want to eat a real Chicago hot dog and see Wrigley Field. And, of course, I want to flirt with Red.
Look at a stone cutter hammering away at his rock, perhaps a hundred times without as much as a crack showing in it. Yet at the hundred-and-first blow it will split in two, and I know it was not the last blow that did it, but all that had gone before.
