That was only a story because it had come down from three quarters. :H
I love that! Actually, I think it's creeping back up.

Started baclofen on February 16th. Now at 210mg divided into six doses per day. You do the math.

I like you Edostan! You don't have to sell me on how stupid US health care is, or US people either. After Bush was re-elected, I was sadly mystified. I didn't want to know who voted which way, because I could feel no kinship with those people who voted for him, and I just didn't want to know.

Regarding the bac, up, up, up.

          lololol

Bite me. I'm still here. As are my friends. We, my friends, are the majority. Not just in my little world or on mywayout. WE ARE THE MAJORITY in this country. We THINK. We LISTEN. We have DIALOGUES and RATIONAL debates.

          So there.

I went to the Rally to Restore Sanity in DC last October. The turnout was unexplainable and took the organizers completely by surprise. (Not to mention the city of DC!!!) It is, in fact, explainable. Most of us just don't have the GD time or inclination to be so foolish as to make the evening news.

Let me tell you something, I've marched or participated in rallys in DC and in every city I've lived in for more than 20 years on a variety of topics. After every event the city is usually full of revelry and party-goers. It's loud, there's litter, everything is crowded. Not so on that beautiful weekend. It was clean, quiet and we got same-day reservations in a very swanky restaurant the night before. Why? Because everyone went bac to their homes and their families and their lives.

I still saw tons of cars on the way up covered with stuff indicating that people were going to the rally from near and far. I saw rvs, young people, old people, all colors, lots of nationalities.
I have NEVER seen the mall so crowded (at least a dozen marches/rallies on the mall under my belt, ftr.) It was FRIGHTENING. I couldn't move at one point. literally. Yet, no disruptive behavior. (well except the cracked out chick who asked me to take a picture of her naked flaccid breasts. But she made a gaping hole in the crowd so I could get out and for that I am thankful to her. Still have a piccie of her boobs, ftr. It's a long story...:H)

So there! oh ye foreigner doubting thomas types.
and Redthread, I agree, but stand tall, sister. We are here. We are quiet, but we are actually registered to vote unlike the nutcases that make the news. Stupid fuckers.

And fuck off, (, okay?) edo and murph. My root canal? $900 with insurance. MRI $1000. We pay $300/mo for insurance. I pay about$100/mo for bac because insurance will only cover the FDA amount or something. I like my country but god are we fucked up.
Wow. that's more expletives than I've used in several days. Felt really good. thanks.

I know, I know. I was very embarassed to call Florida home for a long time due to that. It really comes down to the fact that we have more elderly people per capita here than anywhere else in the US. (I didn't research that, but I'm pretty damn sure it's true!). And they just don't understand how anything even remotely "new fangled" works.

Anyway! Just wanted to swing by and say HI!! I haven't had enough time lately to keep up with MWO as much as I would like, but I've just read through the last few pages of your thread Edostan, and it's great!! Very smart and funny between your postings and all of the other contributors.

I've recently come to realize why the people here are so darn awesome. One thing about people who are very smart - they tend to need something to help them get out of their own heads! Hence the alcohol and/or substance abuse. Pretty much all of the really bright people I know at least use drugs recreationally, or binge drink, or have addictive personalities, or some combination thereof. These same people tend to be prone to anxiety and panic attacks.
No offense to other areas, but I've noticed this even more so here in the meds forum - really witty discourse and smart, humorous dialogue - it seems we are more prone to accepting this disease for what it is and seeking a real cure (in a drug, along the same lines which we sought escape in the first place), rather than just trying to white knuckle it then slip and confess and start again, ad nauseum.
(Necessary dislaimer - this is not a blanket statement; there are absolutely exceptions on both sides of the coin. This is merely large scale observation.)

Just my way of saying that I think y'all are awesome and why.

Oh yeah, I knew there was something specific I wanted to respond to: Edostan, your comment about other people still being able to hear you fart when you're listening to something with earbuds in - friggin hilarious!! That had me laughing at my desk so hard. So thanks for that.

Neva, I knew I loved you for a reason. You are dead on. We are a sleeping giant and it is time to wake up and take control back from all the Fox-News-Watching Fuckheads who have a platform only because they are shouting the loudest.

And I have to join her in a good natured fuck you to the Yankee bashing Brit. FTR, I love the UK. I have relatives over there and my middle name is Winston. And I am grateful for The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who and Led Zepplin.

But your ancestors are the dumb asses who came 235 years ago, wearing bright red coats, and marched out in the open, making themselves easy targets for our ancestors to pick off one by one. So tell me who the idiots are..... (and I am winking when I say that)

I really enjoyed that! Thanks for getting the blood pumping!!

I don't really follow politics, it bores the crap out of me. But I fail to see how the republicans can defend themselves. For god's sake, you put Bush in the white house for TWO terms?? How can you possibly say you THINK and LISTEN and do that? Guy is an absolute moron who can barely string a sentence together!

You lost all credibility with me there.

This is great. We've discussed sex, now politics, it's just religion left to get a bashing, then I think we'll be done here.

I agree, Florida was won over hanging chads or chits or twits or whateva it takes the giant lying Refucklican party to win. Refucklicans are haters, even the most lovely of them. Voting with YOUR OWN WALLET in mind vs the sick poor etc., making the excuse that you can't trust "big govt" so it's better to keep your dollars to yourself ... and by the way, not donate to charity nor to fix the freeways. Funny thing is, many republicans are just idiots who believe the teabagger line which is foppery, lies to lure in unthinking patriots with slogans they don't live by. My dad is a sad example. He has huge tax breaks, a pension, and social security. He thinks medicaide pays too much because he had almost no expense for a recent surgery. I had to tell him that's because he bought supplemental insurance MOST people can't afford, especially in my generation where only the federal/govt employees get pensions, on the taxpayers back. Why should someone at the DMV get a pension and I don't? Each company I started with had a pension to start with, eliminated it, but we can't do that in govt? Bullshit. Yet social security will go bust and since the govt employs 50% of workers, they will vote against funding social security because they have pensions that THEY DIDN'T FUND, WE DID.
My sister is another great example. It's her way or it's the wrong way whether it's church, politics, whatever. And the saddest thing is, she doesn't even understand what her vote does to her own lifestyle, that she's feeding the lobbyists who make ten times what she makes, while she thinks she's doing the right thing they're having 5 martini lunches with senators who make deals left and right. Her latest self lie is the drink she makes for herself after work - she won't tell anyone in the family about it but me, because of the stigma I have. But she's drinking now, and she used to abstain. And she's lying about it. Worrisome. If she couldn't think through politics before, now what?

                          :H

bleep is right. We've WAY crossed the line. Not even just a toe, we DOVE over it. Fair to say there are probably a lot of fundamentalists, republicans, gays, evangelists, nationalities and makes and models around these parts.

I will admit that in my intimate circle of friends I can count two republicans, a jewish atheist, a baptist deacon, a fundamentalist christian, and some very ambivalent folk. The only ones who consistently piss me off are the ambivalent ones. One of my closest friends is the fundamentalist. We agree to disagree. She might think that I am literally going to hell, and I might think that she is interpreting mythology literally, but we really, really like each other.

A couple of my friends are wealthy, and a couple of them are, well, poor. We ALL HATE TAXES, but are mostly proud to pay them. I personally hate doctor's bills more. But some of those friends are also doctors in poor hospitals and they are finding it very difficult to manage their personal budgets with the proposed (and some implemented) changes in medicare and health care reform. I get it. I don't like it and I still disagree with them, but I get it.

One of my girlfriends has a bumper sticker on her car that says, "I miss Reagan." She grows her own vegetables, drives a hybrid, is very active in her community, does her part. We do not talk politics, EVER. I completely respect her and respect her POV. I hope she respects mine. Dunno. We've never talked about it. I kinda want to be her when I grow up, even though she's 10 years younger than I am.

ALL that said, the system doesn't function. The dialogue doesn't function. My country is in transition and it's painful. But hopefully we won't have to go-Egypt on the stupid fuckers to restore some semblance of sanity. But if we do, it'll be televised and the whole world will back us up. Right?

I was going to just say something snarky about seppuku and politely ask you to remind me what and where the UK is, since I'm American after all. But I can't resist a good soapbox.

Also, I did have the thought that if we just put bac in the water in say, Afghanistan, all would be right with the world. Then again, if everyone actually did the 12 steps that would be true, too. Just sayin'
(Then again, if everyone took bac, there would be a HUGE population explosion and we'd all be doomed anyway. And batteries would be in short supply. That would really suck.)

THAT said, I do love my hippie-tree-huggin-feelin-the-love-bac'd-out-brethren. I'm going to smell some flowers or something.
                          Peace.
                          EDIT: I misspelled Afghanistan. lol

No, I was being serious, it's great. Provided edo agrees, of course. I think if the thread holder is with it, there's no such thing as a derail, and they can always bring it back into line...

I notice though, that in true Bush style, you have avoided the question implied in my post. How can you say you lot THINK and LISTEN, when you put a muppet like Bush into the white house for EIGHT years? The statement and the action are completely incongruous. The man should have been impeached for stupidity on about day three or so. Surely oratory, eloquence and intelligence are prerequisites for such a demanding job?

                            Answers on a postcard, please.

Oh, and edo, how are the SE's treating you now? Hopefully they are subsiding a bit?
