Charlie, you might want to read this interesting book which explains why we crave certain things and suggests some good supplements to curb your cravings. Those things along with Baclofen would be awesome for you I think--the book is called "Natural Highs: Supplements, Nutrition, and Mind-Body Techniques to Help You Feel Good All the Time". It is very interesting.

          Hey!

          Hey bud
Annoyingly it has not arrived yet...gonna call them tmw and chase it up if it hasnlt showed. Did a week AF and then fell off wagon spectacularly last night grrrrr!! Monday?! That'll teach me for having a quiet weekend!! Nah, on a good note, its just cemented how badly I need/wanna get on the Bac. A week of AF, feeling good, I could sense myself dithering and panicking and trying to tell myself it wasn't a good idea...! haha. Fucking addiction. Tells me its a shit idea and then sends me a real wobbly on a Monday and I end up getting off my tits. Hey, I don't like to blame 'it' but sometimes I really do think that when it comes for you, there is Sweet FA I can do about it! Obviosuly I am hoping the Bac is gonna help with that little problem and I am 110% in. Fingers crossed it shows tmw. Will be chasing otherwise, I wanna get cracking big time.
Anyway, good to hear from you mate, do not worry, will be posting regular here, just went a little quiet as nada to report.
          Cheers,
          C
I am well and truly in recovery, I thank Baclofen, the good people of MWO and my love of spirituality, the combination of which have helped to guide me out of the darkness in the last couple months. Cheers to that.

            Hi Charlieboy

There was someone on this forum from London. He went to Jonathan Chick in Edinburgh and got a prescription for Baclofen which he then used to take to his doctor in London to get an NHS prescription. Jonathan Chick will give you a prescription. I would hope he would be able to direct you to a doctor in London who will then prescribe on the NHS. I think the MWO member was something like SE1 or SW1.

            Olivier Ameisen

In addiction, suppression of symptoms should suppress the disease altogether since addiction is, as he observed, a "symptom-driven disease". Of all "anticraving medications used in animals, only one - baclofen - has the unique property of suppressing the motivation to consume cocaine, heroin, alcohol, nicotine and d-amphetamine"

Good to hear from you, glad you're still up for it mate.

Don't beat yourself up about getting rat arsed the other night, as you say there's sweet FA you can do about it. It's a disease. Your brain has been altered and needs fixing. It's not your fault. Soon you won't need to stress about keeping yourself off the drink because it will be taken out of your hands. Baclofen really is a miracle cure. All you need to do is actually want it to work. And I know you do.

In a years time you'll look back on the Charlie of today and you won't recognise him.

The BAC have arrived(nice one!) they're at my local post office awaiting collection. Havn't not slept a wink last night(my usual after a heavy night...) I am feeling pretty odd and wondering whther i shd make the effort to go get them now and start today or just wait til tomoro when I am better rested(I just found a few valium tabs i didnt know i had so will use them to help get some kip). Just thinking it may be better ti start when I am a bit more robust, ie tomoro......feeling rather odd at the mo!
                      Any advice welcome, thanks

Get in the car and go and get them now. Why wait?

If you think from the start of your thread to now has been a rollercoaster, just wait! It's all good though, I'm excited for you!

I'm not referring to when Charlie's attitude to the drink changes, he could find himself moderating straight away, or it could suddenly hit him like a thunderbolt 3 months down the line. I'm referring to some point in the future when he looks back at his present self and sees a different person.

                                Charlie

Listen to your body. If you're not feeling up to it today then wait till tomorrow. You want this to be a positive experience and if it starts off negative for you then that might just be the way you continue to look at it.

Just don't leave it too long.
