        Red!
good luck with that girl. i've oft thought of doing the same thing myself. maybe some spanish-speaking gal who could be nurturing and do the job of raising my child bilingual that, alas, i have failed to do thus far. but it's a pipe dream for now. with three chitlin', i'd HAVE to do it. goooood luck! sounds like a real possibility.

you know moving to cuba was a joke, right? i can tell that would be the last place you'd wanna live. LL is a good option for the nickname. and, yes, if you want to be treated right and have nothing serious, he sounds like a good option to explore. sounds like you have your head square on your shoulders about the whole business. and i'm right there with you, in EXACTLY the same place. cool to have you by my side.

i think you're very smart about the CL dude. it sounds like he is a jerk if his response to your telling him how you feel was cold. whenever a response to feelings is cold, i am going to run the other way, from now on! good for you for doing so. and you definintely are smart to avoid being guilt-tripped into what someone wants. very very smart. and to head it off at the pass: brilliant! good for you.

mog, you DID NOT ramble on insanely! your words are wise and helpful. didn't take notes on them and can't scroll back to re-read, but i know that whatever you say is always thoughtful and insightful. so keep it coming.

red, what's this about you going blind? you've referenced it at least twice, but i can't remember reading any explanation. do enlighten on this one.

Hah, cool stuff going on ie RedLand. Go shag LL (I think Juan is much better), it looks to me like you are over-thinking the whole affair. A reputation as "the chick who shagged the Cuban to death" will surely only enhance your future prospects, especially if a shag is all you are after. It may have the welcome effect of removing from the pool any potential wet blankets as well.

I think if you started a poll, there would be very few votes for not shagging. LL owes us one!

Juan or Don Juan? You're probably right. You know what they say about Cuban men. They are some of the best lovers in the world (I did a search of his culture, to see how they treat women). If he got shagged to death, I would assume that would say something good about me. Let's continue to call him LL. Unless, at some point he loses the title. Then we'll call him something else. Better yet, we can just stop talking about him at that point. :H LL, is in some faraway land. He'll be back later this week, and I think I may go out with him Saturday. I'll let you know.

As far as the over thinking. I over think everything. I make checks and lists and balances. Weighing it all out in my head. I then go back and do it over again. It's exhausting. I think it's my Libra nature. Decision making, or lack of, is not one of the postitive traits of the Libra. I even do this with my baclofen titration. Imagine the checks and balances I must do when choosing a new lover! My first new lover in over a decade. That would be the only postitive about getting drunk. My subconscious takes over.

My farm girl is wonderful! She doesn't live on a farm, but in an old farm house, in the middle of nowhere. She really seems to enjoy the children and they enjoy her. She engages them. Plays games with them. I worried if my household would be good enough for her, or if I was organized enough. You know, all the things you would think about, when allowing someone else to live with you. She told me my house was clean. I don't think so, but I'm thrilled she said it. I left her alone with them for a few hours and ran errands. I know it's not the most interesting way to spend my little bit of free time, but I needed new brakes and rotors badly.

I got my first financial support payment in at least 8 months. I also got my first paycheck in almost 3 months. I'm thrilled! Most of the child support, will pay for the nanny every month.

I believe my girl will be moving in at the end of the month. I guess we can stop calling her girl. Her name is Karen. With such a lovely name, how can I go wrong? :h

We may have an issue regarding food. She doesn't like anything. She likes bread and spaghetti (not pasta . The only meat she eats is chicken. I wanted to take her out, and get her favorite food or something ethnic. She doesn't eat Chinese, Thai, Indian, or Mexican food. She doesn't like anything spicy. She wanted to go to Sweet Tomatoes. Okay. I saved some money on a fancy dinner, I guess.

We don't go out to eat often, but I don't cook bland food. I like spices and use them liberally. The bread an pasta thing? I don't eat gluten, so I've even gotten the kids converted to quinoa or brown rice pasta. They still eat gluten bread, but I was going to work on that next (gluten intolerance is often genetic). We eat a lot of beans and legumes (she doesn't like them). I don't mind the fact that she only eats chicken, too much. I wanted to start reducing our meat consumption anyway. From what I can tell, from browsing the veggie sect of the store, all the meat alternatives contain gluten. Not sure what we're going to do about it. It's the only problem I forsee. I'm worried she will starve to death here. She's as small as a bird already.

On a side note, how do those meat alternatives not contain many carbs, if they are made from gluten? Or do they? I try to watch my carbs. It's the only way for me to maintain my weight. I try to limit my grains and get most of my carbs from veggies and beans.

I haven't had a drink since the day I got drunk. I'm not sure what day it was (I have a hard time remembering when I drink anymore unless I over do it.) I believe it was early last week. I'm not having urges. Except when I don't eat for a long period of time. I did go up by 10 mg, but I don't think I'll go up anymore. The baclofen gives me the tool to realize I need to eat, rather than drink. The only other time I have an urge (and it would be an urge like a mac truck), is when I'm exposed to a trigger. I am becoming more and more conscious of exactly what they are. I'll do my best to avoid them, if I can. When I'm stronger, I may be able to deal with them better. I feel this dose is good enough right now. The need to drink moderately is dissipating. I'm not saying I won't have a drink at some point, but the thought of needing to have a drink (even one), goes away. I think many of us go through an adjustment period. Our thoughts have to catch up to what is occuring physiologically. In other words, it takes time to break old habits. I think...

                Much love,

I had to look it up and you definitely have Quorn in America and have had for at least 9 years Vegetarians in Paradise/Quorn/Mycoprotein/ Fungus/Mold Look, I know that Quorn is a British company but surely you?re not going to completely ignore it just because it?s not a bit foreign are you? Sarah Palin probably wouldn?t touch it for that reason but I?d forgive her anything.

Just for you I grabbed a pack of Quorn chicken pieces out of the freezer. The ingredients are Mycoprotein 87%, free range egg white and flavourings. That?s it. No gluten. The prepared Quorn meals may contain gluten, but the bags of chicken, beef and mince are just mycoprotein and egg. Actually, I?m not sure you call it mince. You might call it ground meat or grounds or something equally ghastly. Mycoprotein comes purely from a mushroom, so no worries about gluten there.

She reminds me of the people of the village I was in last time I went back to live in Wales. They had extraordinarily bland taste and their experience of food from other cultures was practically zero. One woman I knew had not only never eaten Indian or Chinese; she had never even eaten a pizza. NEVER, I shit you not. Mind you, it was a rather backward place; electricity only reached the village in the 1980s and they looked at me suspiciously because I wore shoes and used a leather belt instead of agricultural twine.

Ahhh, that?s where the similarity ends; rural Welsh women tend to be built like and look like overweight cows.

You absolutely echo my thoughts there Red. The adjustment period is incredibly important. I really don?t understand how people can go from drunks before the switch to abstinent (and happy about it) the next day and not work through that period of adjustment. It DOES take time to break the habits, this is what I?ve been saying for a while, and recognising and finding ways to deal with the triggers is crucial. You need to distance the trigger from alcohol in order to break that cycle. If you want help with any of that stuff just let me know.

Now, buy some Quorn and use it to replace the beef, chicken, or mince from your usual dishes and you'll enjoy it. Actually the Quorn mince is a bit shit in my opinion. Do you have Realeat mince in America? Or the Linda McCartney mince? Oh yeah, and go to dinner with Ra?l (I remembered another Cuban name ) Make him splash out, order the most expensive wine and then don't drink any of it. If he winces at the cost he's a no-no. But otherwise, have fun. There's no reason not to have no strings attached fun without full-on love. Remember, you're a long time dead.

They are made primarily from Textured Soy Protein. Textured vegetable protein - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Many of them also have wheat protein (gluten) as you have noticed. The gluten free ones are almost entirely TVP. A lot of the commercial products contain a lot of other creepy chemicals too, which makes me wonder if they're really "more healthy" than meat, or if it's just a marketing ploy to take advantage of vegetarians.

If she likes plain pasta, she'll probably like quinoa. If she likes white rice, she'll probably be ok with brown rice. Hopefully she's willing to try new things? I'm sure she'll be OK with the fact that you want your family to eat a certain way, and she'll need to either adapt or cook her own meals.

Gluten is the very low carb protein part of wheat separated from the starchy high carb part. Tofu and TVP are very low carb, Soy protein isolate is 0 carb.

You might look into a pasta substitute made out of tofu and shirataki: Shirataki Noodles - What Are Shirataki Noodles and Where To Get Them

Whole Foods has them and they ROOL (but cooking them right can be a challenge and they are *sorta like* pasta, not *exactly like* pasta.

Well first of all: Ewwwwwwww, that's way, way, wayyyyyyyyy TMI!!!

Now I've got the obligatory squeamishness out the way, what has edible fungus got to do with candida, apart from the fact they're both fungi? Eating mushrooms won't increase candida. Eating refined sugars and meat with antibiotics will though. I'm sure you know tons more about this than me, but an anti-candida diet doesn't mean you can't eat mushrooms.
