    Switch Happens! YAY ME!

After restarting BAC in January (I stopped in Dec b/c of what I thought were horrible SE's), I was determined to get started again and get my dose up to try and find out if this switch everyone here was talking about is real.

Well, last Friday I got myself up to 275 (I'm F, 5'2" and 145 pounds), and guess what. It IS real. I have not wanted (truly have not wanted) any wine (I'm a wino) for the last 6 days. I sit here typing this and tonight would be a typical drinking night for me (my husband won't be home until late and my kids all have practice...so I would normally, drink. UG). However, I am looking forward to going home. Having a steak ceasar salad and a big diet ginerale and actually getting some work done.

WOW! Anyway, I wasn't going to post until at least I hit one week, but 6 days for me is close enough... I haven't had 6 days AF for at least 10 years. :woot:

Anyway, thanks for listening and for all of you that are still questioning this BAC stuff.... Just start or keep taking those pills!!! (as Ig had told me on another thread) Good advice Ig!!

Indifference is in your future with Baclofen. It works!

My frustration with Baclofen, which is shared by Dr. Oliver Ameisen, is that because Baclofen is an off patent medication there is no profit motive for drug companies to support clinical trials that would demonstrate its efficacy in treating addiction.

    Congratulations!:goodjob:

It seems that there are more and more success stories. I am so glad to hear this. I've heard that women struggle more than men, don't know if this is true, but I like to hear of the success stories.

Just be careful, I thought I'd hit the switch and then got enormous cravings after 10 days AF. I think Neva had the same after about 1 week too.

Oh, I am being careful. I've decided to keep my dose high all this week (at 250) just to really see if this is really *it*.... I do understand and have been following all of you, so I know.

          I'm still feeling :disco: though!!!

Actually it happened to NE only because she'd forgotten to take quite a lot of her baclofen dose for the day.

Ok and I suppose I had a false switch. Someone else who had hit the switch also got drunk too so I'm not making it up. Would be happy if this is for help4me, only warning to be cautious since it can bring you crashing right down if it isn't.

Yes, we all need to be careful, both pre-switch and post-switch.

But isn't it nice to know also that tripping after the switch doesn't mean the switch is tripped for good? From what I've read here, going back up with bac again turns the switch back on. Yay for that. (not that it's a good idea to test it out... if/when I hit the switch, I have no plans of "testing" it. But who can tell... intention or not, a missed dose can put us to the test -- pre-switch or post-switch.
Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life... And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

I had actually increased my dose since I felt the cravings returning, I never titrated down or forgot a dose - I actually took more, and still drank a couple of days later.

Anyway this is hijacking a thread, so I'll have to leave it here.

                          Congratulations x
