    Mg's Baclofen Log

I'd like to see proof that Baclofen alone will arrest acute AWS and prevent seizures without Gaba-a agents. And I wouldn't encourage anyone to risk possible seizure and death by gambling that it definitely will. My point is that there is no widely tested/recommended baclofen detox protocol available (though at least one has been mentioned here before) and the importance of having benzos/anti-convulsants as a back-up and preferably a 2nd person to keep an eye on and evaluate you/administer the back-up if you start seizing for instance.

I can't find the other reference that prescribed 1mg per hour for 8 hours for moderate AWS. As an additional point of reference when I was discharged from the ER my first experience, I was prescribed 5mg valium per hour as required. (0.5mg ativan is regarded equivalent to 5mg valium). Finally, the prescription I had was from someone who was prescribed for mild anxiety while flying.. It was 1mg 3x day as needed... So 4mg in one day doesn't seem like 'a lot' and was taken only for 1 day.
I agree, but add alcohol *and* baclofen, and don't mention a taper scheme (and a buddy to help you stick to it) and there are a lot of unknowns.

Had I presented to the ER with my condition of excessive sweating, tremmors, and rapid heartbeat... they would have surely shoved an IV of valium in my arm...
That's what they've done when I've showed up there after I ate all my benzos and drank all of my booze and then was lucky enough to have somebody around to get me to the ER before the world exploded.

Anyhow.. I'm feeling OK right now.. actually the only real annoying symptom is constipation - Probably from the Ativan..
That's really good to hear (except the constipation). I'm not trying to argue with you and I'm wishing you the best through this however you can get through it. -tk

Well doing that would be bad.. I know benzos are risky for alcohol dependents.. I used it after I had stopped drinking and in stages of AWS.. of course if I started drinking again at the same time as taking benzos... that would be pretty bad.. and I am sure some have fallen into such a bad state... I guess that is where the monitoring would come in to have someone around that makes sure you don't start drinking again.. Fortunately I have other motivations to stay AF for the moment.. I hope it is a long moment..
