      Good (and obvious) questions, Ig.

(And thank you for returning and making me accountable, and focused in the end.)

I have messed up a bit by trying to go to higher doses less often (because he definitely thought that was a better method) -- but that kind of backfired because the higher doses (50mg at a pop) drive me batty, make me desperate to drink to calm my agitation, and in the end there is no way I can get more than 250mg/day in that way. So I messed up for a few days. I will be back to the 35mg every 2-3 hours tomorrow... and back to 275mg/day for a few days... and in touch with Dr. L next week.

As for stopping the other meds, yes I did... although I'm not sure how great an effect that will have/is having, given that I wasn't using them much, anyway. But he seemed rather insistent -- and we do have to assume he knows something about this, right?

The main big change, however, that I should have written before, but this is a story happening and unravelling even as we write, is that he gave me a prescription for alprazolam (zanax)... he says it will help me sleep and deal with my anxiety from the bac.

I had really been out after this from before my appt, as per Lo0p's mom's advice... before that, I had been skeptical of alprazolam because it is a benzo, and we all know about benzos, so no need to go into that. Alpra is also apparently one of the more addictive ones, so I wasn't feeling so inclined to go in that direction until Lo0p's mom (and then Lo0p, too) chimed in on this.

It seems that Dr. L is not worried about alpra's addictive qualities because of the bac negating it (??? I'm guessing this from what others have said). And for some reason, that is his benzo of choice. There obviously is a reason because he said he didn't want to get into debating it, but that was what he wanted to prescribe (I think he said that to another member here also). Meanwhile, he told me to cut out lorazepam (which if you look at any of the info available on the net, looks about as close to alpra as any benzo can get). Like I said, he obviously has his reasons.

So, thanks to the Lo0ps, and Dr. L, I decided to add that to the picture, and right now I am in the very beginning phase of trying to figure out how much and when to use it and how it affects me, and when, and in combo with bac.

So far, sleep is much better. So much so that I have to keep the dose low... could not get out of bed yesterday.

Daytime use is uncertain. Makes me too tired? Not sure yet.

In combo with alcohol seems to knock me out even more (no big surprise there)... giving me less of a need or desire for alcohol. Only good news there.

My drinking is still low, not increasing, maybe decreasing. Not sure. Haven't been keeping as careful track lately just because it has become less of an issue... but still drinking every day.

So the main factor now will be to see how the alpra fits in... if I can essentially use it to replace the alcohol... perhaps I will hit the switch fast, or even find that I actually have already reached the switch (which is what Dr. L (and some others here) have been wondering about.)

The main drawback with the alpra is that it does hit me hard, and is not yet as predictable as the alcohol in how and when it will affect me. That's what I will be working on the next couple days, and then probably increase my dose as per what Dr. L says at next conversation.

Thanks for prodding me Ig. Now I think I've said it all, and I will be traveling for a while, so not around here so much -- it's good to get it all out there, so I am caught up for the next round.

All very good to hear Beatle! Did you go into the legion of supplements that you take with Dr L, and what were his suggestions on those?

How I wish... really, the conversation was exactly as I described. He took over and I didn't have a chance to make it my agenda at all. But I did give him all my questions and background info, so maybe I can get him to look at that some day. Meanwhile, I will continue as I am.

                Ne,

I don't think Beatle has any apps or laptops she can respond to here with.

                We just have to wait.

I keep logging in to see where she is and how she is doing.

Be patient. Something us alkies have a hard time with.

I know Beatle is doing what she should be. Titrating up as her body lets her.

She will post again when she can.

Beatle left MWO some time ago. Left her e-mail contact with some posters.

I have not left MWO, but I do have VERY limited access to internet. I see quite a lot of activity has been going on here, some very constructive (bac information consolidation) and some otherwise (but I've only read the first few posts on that).

I am doing ok, not great, still taking the pills -- 275 -- trying to go up now again.

                    More in a few days.
