Otter;1067064 wrote: There is this theory of the infinite. It goes like this: There are only so many ways you can rearrange molecules so that in infinity we must eventually repeat, infinitely. If that extends to time, backwards and forwards, then this has all been done before, infinitely, like groundhog day. So, maybe when the Bible talks about an age of grace about to arrive, it has happened before and some people are just attuned into that, genetically. We could be entering into an age of medically induced peace and understanding... And we have all been here before and will all be back. Just watch.

I have no idea. I suppose it all ends in some huge big bang but life, whatever that is, survives in some way. I don't expect to see it somehow but it is mind expanding. I am not religious by the way.
I have also posted some links.BACLOFENISTA

In addiction, suppression of symptoms should suppress the disease altogether since addiction is, as he observed, a "symptom-driven disease". Of all "anticraving medications used in animals, only one - baclofen - has the unique property of suppressing the motivation to consume cocaine, heroin, alcohol, nicotine and d-amphetamine"

The Mind
Little late here, but dang, it's getting hard to keep up with the phenomenal amounts of worthy information getting posted here and there.
I'm a meditator - as long as I was doing it seriously (about 10 years), I never drank, never knew I was an alcoholic. Great way to modulate anxiety . . . duh!
Anyway, I've been monitoring the exploding interface between contemplative practice and neuro-science. Dr. Daniel Seigel (read anything he has written) began posing this question to mental health practitioners (over 80,000, to date): How many of you have ever had a class on, or been given a definition of, the mind?
Response? 3-5%. Now, imagine asking 80,000 lawyers whether or not they had ever had a class on the law. Indicative of a rather sad state of affairs. I happen to like Dr. Seigel's definition of the mind. He says, "the mind is a verb. It is an embodied and inter-relational process that regulates the flow of energy and information." He defines that brain as a noun - the nervous system extended throughout the entire body.
When the amygdala does it's thing - judging and evaluating input, within nano-seconds the entire body is flooded with a cascade of neuro-chemicals based upon that evaluation. Unfortunately, 99% of those evaluations are based on past experience (evolutionary as well as lifetime?) and the amygdala is primed to go negative. Keeping us locked in reinforcing loops of negative experience.
So yes, this is enormous.
And re rearranging molecules, I wouldn't get too discouraged yet. "For example, if we record from 100 neurons there are 10,000 possible connections between
neurons and, therefore, at least 10,000 parameters that need to be estimated."
Depending upon whose work you read, there are 100-200 billion neurons in the brain. Although, really, who could possibly know at this point in history? I'm thinking there's still some potential in finding ways to make new connections. Actually, it can now be seen through fMRI's that we can make new neurons! There's a whole consort of scientists who have been working with the Dalai Lama for 16-17 years to look at the differences between monk-brains that have been highly trained and our take-it-as-it-comes brains. Some amazing information: Mind & Life Institute — Building a scientific understanding of the mind to reduce suffering and promote well-being
I'm not religious in any way, either, but the Buddha actually described all this in detail."Wherever you are is the entry point." --Kabir

Otter, I thought I was just commenting on and agreeing with your digression regarding the mind and the amygdala, and noting that infinity is a lot of possibilities before we run into the same ones again. And yes, this has all been "discovered" before.
I'm thrilled with the new forum, Anon. Thanks."Wherever you are is the entry point." --Kabir

I'm thrilled with the new forum, Anon. Thanks.
About rewireing I notice the following:
Hitting the baclofen switch changed my thinking from being negative to being positive. Every situation I have been in since then was like relearning how to do it without the negative thoughts. I even had to think about it what I just said and why I said it.
Maybe that's the brain rewireing itself into the positive?
I even heard a voice in my head say to me: "Are you going to use this ability to being helpfull and good or being evil and manipulative" I answered good. Then all thoughts were quiet in my head. It was really scary and this is the first time I admit I had this experience.
It was like being blessed or talking to god.
Since that moment I'm making the right decisions that are good for myself and my body.

Anonymity,
Congratulations reaching the switch!
I recall you started the end of januari 2011. Bleep also took the fast train. And now you appearently too.
Maybe there's reason to change our ways of thinking and titration. Would you be so kind to share your journey? The titration schedule, dosage, more details?
Some reach indifference, but you actually seem to have reached the Switch. When did you 'KNOW'? It's important for newcomers to hear all the stories I think. Bringing new hope and stuff.

They were relatively unaware of the anti addiction qualities of baclofen, but accepted it without question. I'm hoping someone like terryk or 37 will wander across and have a chat with them, just to see what comes of it.

Hint hint 37. Terryk.
I'm glad that you and Otter chimed in over there - they definitely seemed misled and needed the info.!
This thread has got my brain firing. I've always been fascinated by neuroscience and I'm finding all of this info. about the amygdala extremely interesting and thought-provoking. Now I've got RedThread's link to check out, as well as anon's forum. Really great discussion here.Better Living Through Chemistry

Alright anon, I've joined. I really like all of the different sections and I'll be very interested to see how they all develop. It really is amazing all of the things that baclofen has the ability to set right.
I hope that both sites can be resources for each other. MWO is my like home to me, but I will continue to check in on the Baclofen Forum and post whatever relevant experiences I've had thus far.
Great job!!Better Living Through Chemistry

I go to exactly the same page on either link.Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life... And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.
