Baclofen by RX? Why buy on internet?

Hi - new here, and curious about all this internet drug buying. Will the Dr not give it to you? I'm currently taking Campral and have been for a month. I'm trying to figure out how to get to Walmart to buy more wine - RIGHT NOW!!
Will this Baclofen help with the obsession? I do have anxiety. I do well until the kids are home from school and then all I can do is think about drinking....
I'm also taking Cymbalta (Anti Depressent).
    Interactions?
    Thanks -

    Hey Diva,

Baclofen will completely remove the over-riding desire to drink. Completely.

the reason most people order on prescription is that a lot of doctors haven't yet heard of it, and so won't prescribe it for addiction. Added to that is the dosage. Since addiction treatment is an off label treatment (not the intended use), the dosage normally given out on prescription is woefully inadequate to combat addiction. Doctors, even progressive ones, baulk at prescribing an untested drug out in such quantities, which forces people to go underground.

Good luck, wherever you get it, it will change your life.

Lots of information to be found here about drug interactions. Also about the difficulties of getting a proper prescription from a doctor. There are A LOT of factors that play into both.

As to the bac, well, bleep is right. It completely removes the white hot need for alcohol, the craving. It's not at all like campral, though, so best to do some investigating and keep on asking questions.

I am really new to this - but those high doses must get expensive. I know, I know....probably not as pricey as the booze or as pricey as the hospital bill for liver failure. Just wondering how much people are spending monthly on this stuff when they order over the internet.

I'm buying mine from a pharmacy, but it's not covered by medical aid (don't get me started on that particular subject) - Currently it costs about $250 a month, but I take a pretty hefty dose, and was recently taking even more.

I have a doctor prescribing for me, so I get mine from a traditional pharmacy. A two week supply to get me from 140 mg to 220 mg costs $75.

redhead has a thread on here where she shares her conversation with a doctor in Chicago who uses this type of protocol. At that time, he treated 500 patients. It worked in all but 5, and those 5 were non-compliant.

I will try to find the thread for you. This drug will change the face of addiction treatment

I've bought from a pharmacy with a script and thought I was fortunate to be able to do that. Then, I read a couple warnings here that the brand I was taking (Upsher-Smith) seemed very likely to produce severe SE's (ignored those warnings), and just this morning read that Upsher-Smith has recalled baclofen produced in October (I think I started taking it in November). Well, crap! Doesn't seem to be a safe, sure way to approach this.

I think I'll go the Levin/Walgreen route and see if it isn't a bit easier (meaning less severe SE's), regardless of what it may cost. I figure it this way: I easily spend $900 on booze and smokes. At a very high dose of bac, my expense would be one-third that. I'd only be screwed if the bac doesn't work and I'm paying for both to learn that. But since I'm pretty much screwed as it is anyway and am not seeing better alternative, I'll take the gamble.

Tracy, the details of the scheme escape me, but there is some club you join at Walmart that enables you to purchase subsequent drugs from them at vastly reduced rates. I'll try and remember who bought it up and let you know...

Walgreens / Walmart, I'm not sure. All the same if you aren't from there. Those who know what I'm talking about, please jump in...
