Wheeee! or Yikes! Progress thread for Tracy

[QUOTE=Ringing Cedars;1077463]Hey Tracy, Bruun, CF and NE. That's as far back as I went. Tracy I hope you don't mind me popping into your thread(I'm pretty sure you wouldn't). I never read the Meds Section but the past few days of drummed up drama has caused me to want to figure out what all the fuss was about. So I've been reading the drama thread and a bit in this section.

I've learned a bit and reinforced some of what I already knew in the drama thread.

Run, run from the :drama: thread.

I'm only there because I've a bit of masochist side.

The latest: Dr. L was leery of the med that I wrote about earlier but said that it is not contraindicated. He okayed for the time being to see if it would help with the apnea and other SEs. On an “as needed” basis, and he is curious to see what effects it will have. He did assure me that if I follow his regiment, the apnea will go away on it’s own. He said that you can’t flood the brain with baclofen and expect it to work. I am paraphrasing, but he said that it’s not just the brain that needs to adjust but that the whole nervous system changes during the process. Since I did not give my nervous system time to do that, I was having respiratory problems. He put it really simply, “All the different parts need to be happy.” I think he’s right. Last night was the first in a while that I didn’t have problem one with the apnea. I slept well, all night, and haven’t been in any way ill or been a bac-zombie, so the other med may be a moot point anyway.

I told him about how different my experience was between the Upshire-Smith brand and Walgreen’s Zenith brand that I am on now. He was very interested and thanked me for confirming something that he suspected (Yo, Loop). He also warned me, so I am passing that warning on. He said questionable entities have clued in to the recent interest in baclofen. He said that bad places are ramping up production of a counterfeit that will be sold as baclofen but is either not actually baclofen or of questionable quality. He talked about an article he had read and mentioned it had been on TV too. I saw a link to Sunday’s 60 Minutes episode here on the meds forum, and I believe this is what he was referring to:

The fight against counterfeit drugs - 60 Minutes - CBS News

Anyway, the overall gist was to be very, very careful. In the 60 Minutes program, they disclosed how even US pharmacies are getting some of the questionable drugs in their inventory. Dr. L said that the internet pharmacies are not at all reliable or consistent in their source of baclofen - not sayin' this myself. Just passing on what the doc told me.

He also said to not get sloppy about the doses. Take them in the correct amount at the correct time (basically, breakfast, lunch, dinner)

He called me today, actually, at 6:15 a.m. Two weeks ago, when he scheduled the appointment for 6:15, I, being a silly person who thinks of doctors as working something akin to normal hours, assumed he meant in the evening. Does that man ever rest?

Thanks, John. I couldn't remember where I had seen it or who had written it. John, I think that 60 minutes piece warrants it's own thread.

              Tracy,

I am dig, dig, digging the Avatar!! Very cool. Are you following Dr L's tit protocol, or doing your own thing?

I saw John post that about 60 minutes and tried to put it on, but I was too late.

Actually, I know that answer. You are on his protocol.

Doing my own thing didn't pan out too well for me. This is working better. It's silly. The times when I felt bad, I told myself that I just wanted to get it over with. The times I felt good, I thought, "Good! The SE's are not bothering me, so I can go up now." Not terribly logical, now that I think about.

Amen! Good luck with the 40mg tds.
I'm not sure having a wife is any better, from a husband's point of view, because wives and husbands just think differently. Unless you're talking girl/girl where perhaps the thinking is more similar? But double PMS! I have read men are happier married and live longer than unmarried men, and that among marrieds, men are happier than women, so I do see that your points about wanting a wife sound like they have merit.

                      Personally, I like pets.

PS, thanks for the meds info and the sixty minutes link. Scary. I wonder if the stash of bac I have is fake.

Bruun, I've seen you post several times about All-One. I tried it years ago, but the stuff ain't very tasty and I didn't like it with citrus juice at all. What do you mix it with?

Hey Tracy, I'm all about gulping it down in the minimum amount of water needed to make it liquid. I have a few nasty drinks I gulp down, practice makes perfect. I posted about them - my green drink, my mud drink, my psyllium drink, a very nasty amino blend that tops all by 300% in BLEH factor, and the latest I'm expecting to choke down for weight loss purposes is Apple Cider Vinegar plus cayenne pepper and lemon juice, plus warm water. This one I'm a little afraid of because it could be rough on my stomach due to the acid so I'll be waiting a while for that. An alternative is ACV + MCT oil.

Anyways, to answer your question, just choke it down. You can add L-glut powder and that might help.

I'm like you Bruun (DUH!), I've gotten good at choking down nasty tasting stuff w/out batting an eyelash.
The last drink you're talking about almost sounds like the Master Cleanse lemonade!!
I happen to like the taste of ACV. I was doing 2 tsp. in water 2-3 times a day, no sweetener, and actually enjoying it.

                            But then again, I'm weird.

You don't know the half of it. I got this jewel from an AA'r just this morning: "Glad you changed your Avatar. It certainly is more appealing then the one of yourself. Looks like tthe [sic] booze took a toll on you."

They are rabid, and I'm starting to wonder if any of them (in PM) have an IQ of above 80 and/or are actually sober.

At any rate, so much for walking the walk! :H
